Chapter 1802: The Dark War (4)
It had already been over an hour since the battle between Kent and the Dark Empress began. Already, thousands of Dark Fiends had died, but Kent wasn’t unscathed either.
He had some cuts here and there, and most importantly, he seemed tired, his breath coming in ragged.
Well, at least that was the illusion he had put on. In truth, he wasn’t hurt or tired at all. If anything, he was much stronger now that death surrounded him everywhere.
He stopped devouring the energy from the dead bodies since that would tell the Dark Empress he was faking everything, prompting her to make a quick escape. Instead, he was devouring the death essence in the air, feeding everything to his Death Spirit.
Initially, Hades wanted to play hard to get. But after finding out Kent was the Chaos Ascension King, he became a good boy. For now, he was working well with him, fully aware that soon, he would become stronger than his past self.
"Master, can’t I heal your wounds? I feel like you being hurt is wrong in every way," Lady Kenzie, who couldn’t sit and watch Hades get all the attention, said into Kent’s ear while inside his soul sea.
Kent just smiled and replied,
"Your turn will come, sweet Kenzie. For now, let these bastards believe I am injured. It works in my favour after all."
Indeed, the closer they believed they were to killing him, the more time he could buy. Kent was hard to kill now, so death wasn’t something he feared. But he couldn’t allow the Dark Empress to escape, not when he had no sure way to stop her.
Even if he teleported to her side, he would have to kill five Dark Queens and some three others he could sense are far stronger than the Dark Queens.
Regardless of how he sees it, she would escape before he could cut her head off.
That was the only loophole in his plan now, so giving them the impression that he was close to death would make them believe they had the upper hand.
This was also the time to examine his combat abilities and see which ones worked in which situations.
Kent evaded a piercing attack from a spider-like dark fiend. Then, with a deadly swing, he severed the legs of another and, using the momentum, moved to a second one and cut it in half.
But that didn’t end there. He moved even deeper into the horde of monsters, slicing and dicing like he was a butcher.
Minutes soon passed, and before long, there were only ten minutes left until the awakening was over. However, just then, the void cracked, and from within, giant ships carrying powerful warriors started to emerge.
Kent moved back, evading a net attack from a spider-like Dark Fiend, and then focused his attention upward. There, standing at the bow of the leading ship, was a man clad in dark armor, wielding a large polearm.
He had the aura of a Peak Celestial Supreme, and from the look on his face, he was very angry.
He pointed his weapon at Kent, causing a powerful pressure to descend upon him. "Are you the one who killed Li Jian?" His words were filled with power as they crashed into Kent’s mind, forcing their way deep into his subconscious.
’Well, he is dangerous,’ Kent said inwardly as a smile appeared on his face.
"I came for the Dark Empress, and he tried to stand in my way, so I had to put him down. That said, is everyone in the Jian Family aware of your betrayal to the universe? Do they know their Patriarch has been shielding the Dark Empress all this years?"
At Kent’s response, some of the warriors standing behind Han Jian, the Patriarch of the Jian Family, shifted in their stance, clearly not expecting their leader to have done such a thing.
However, with the Eye of Chaos, Kent could tell that many others were already aware, as they clutched their weapons tightly, ready to fight him.
Han Jian frowned and asked, "What are you talking about, bastard? This place is home to an ally of my Jian Family. She is our asset and someone who has protected my family for years.
"Or are you saying insect cultivators are all Dark Creatures that have to be put down?" Han Jian sneered at the end, knowing his reply would surely dispel the doubt in the minds of many who had nearly begun to question him.
Kent smiled and shook his head. "Nice reply, Han Jian. But I think we both know she is the Dark Empress, and today, I will put her down.
"Now, while I would love to see you all come to your senses and retreat, I know it is impossible due to your blind loyalty. So here is what I am going to do. I will kill you all, and when I am done, I will visit every branch of the Jian Family and destroy their cultivation bases, making sure none of you can ever fight back again.
"But I won’t stop there. I will place a curse on the Jian bloodline, preventing future generations from ever attaining divinity. Consider this me showing mercy."
The sword in Kent’s hand trembled, and waves of blood slowly rose into the air, expanding and surging with such sharpness that even Han Jian felt his scalp go numb.
Kent had unleashed the [Blood Sea Annihilation] and merged his Sword Realm into it, causing it to take on the sharpness of countless swords.
His injured body remained the same, but a certain coldness had now filled his eyes and even seemed to affect the Eye of Chaos in the air.
In no time, the 20 km around him was filled with a blood-red sea. Everything caught within it was shredded and devoured.
"Now, bring your miserable lives for me to cut down."
The Blood Sea Annihilation surged, and at once, hundreds of thousands of swords formed. Then, with a mere gesture, the swords lung forward, bending space around them.
"KILL!"
Han Jian pointed his sword forward, and with his command, thousands of his warriors also surged forward. He watched as some managed to defend against the swords, but many also fell under the devastating assault of the Blood Sea Annihilation.
"Kinkade, kill this bastard," Han Jian said as he turned to a Celestial Monarch standing at the bow of another ship.
The man, with a head of blue hair, jumped from the bow of the ship, wearing an arrogant expression as he charged at Kent with his sword.
"How boring."
Kent, who had been waiting for the main threat to come at him, chuckled. Then he moved his sword, controlling the Blood Sea Annihilation to attack the bastard charging at him.
When they met, shockwaves spread everywhere, but Kinkade failed to break through the Blood Sea, causing Kent to grin.
’Looks like the Blood Sea Annihilation isn’t as simple as I expected.’
He smiled, then, tapping into his imagination, formed a 3 km-long curved sword entirely out of blood and swung it at Kinkade, who had little to no time to react.
The sword crashed into Kinkade’s defense, launching him high into the air.
Shock filled everyone’s faces as they watched a mere Demigod push back a Celestial. But before they could do anything, Kent extended his hand, and a large bow appeared in it.
Suddenly, as if time had slowed, he closed his eyes, and when he opened them, they turned golden. Then, behind him, a diagram with a large golden eye at its center appeared.
This was the [Omniscient Dao Eyes], and the bow was the [Timeless Dao Bow], the same weapon Kalimndra, the Omniscience Dao Archer, had used back during the Sun Era.
Kent tapped into the Omniscient Dao Eyes and then reached five seconds into the past. He formed an arrow and aimed...
