Chapter 1810: The Dark War (12)
As it appeared, there were far more than two people here who had fought in the Dark Wars. While the spotlight had been on the Night Riders and a select few, many warriors from different backgrounds had joined the campaign against the enemy in the first Dark War.
Two of them were Fallon and Vika.
The two had a rocky relationship in this life, just as they had in their past lives. It could even be said that they were not friends, more like rivals.
However, considering they were dating the same man in this life, it was only natural to assume they were now friends.
Looking at their cohesion in battle, it was plain that they might be rivals, but they also understood each other very well.
Fallon was the daughter of a very wealthy king in her past life, while Vika was an orphan.
Well, if one looked at it, even in this life, they had nearly repeated the same backstory. Fallon was the daughter of a rich merchant, while Vika was once again an orphan.
The only difference was that Fallon was not a princess but a wealthy merchant herself.
And just like in their past life, they met as a wealthy woman and an assassin.
Fallon was not much of a warrior in their past life. However, when she met Vika, an orphan who had crawled out of the slums and made a life for herself, she became inspired.
They became friends, but it was later revealed that Vika had only befriended her to get close to her father and assassinate him.
Unfortunately, Vika had genuinely wanted that friendship, so she failed to complete her mission. But that changed nothing since, despite her failure, the assassination was carried out on her behalf just like how it happened in this life too.
Their friendship went downhill from then on, and the rest was history.
But as fate would have it, they reunited later, and after Fallon tried many times to kill Vika without success, she stopped and rekindled their friendship, which blossomed into something even more magical.
That magic was revealed during that arduous battle, the one where they single-handedly defended their planet from hordes of Dark Creatures.
Today, they were doing exactly the same thing, and despite not having memories of their past lives, things seemed to be connecting even more than they would have if they did.
"Fallon, you know this moment feels all too familiar, almost as if we have been in this exact scenario before, surrounded by hordes of monsters, yet we prevailed," Vika said with a small laugh as her dagger spun from her throw, circling three Demigod Dark Fiends.
A few meters from her, Fallon blocked the weapon of a Dark Fiend with her sword. Then, almost as if she knew a dagger was coming, her hand moved and caught it, driving it through the Dark Fiend’s neck.
She twisted it, then pulled it forward, cutting its throat cleanly. The Dark Fiend staggered and fell, but even before it did, Fallon was already on the move, wielding both a dagger and a sword.
"Isn’t this a terrible time to make such assumptions? We have Demigods gunning for our heads here, my friend," Fallon replied with a laugh. "Then again, it would be great if we shared a past together. I bet we were the best of friends back then."
Vika pushed through the hordes of Dark Fiends around her and closed in on Fallon, who handed the dagger back to her. They allowed themselves a brief moment of respite, but before long, they were beset by yet more hordes of monsters.
The more they fought, the deeper their battlefield chemistry became. It grew so profound that they could feel their powers rising by several degrees simply from fighting side by side.
"I doubt we were the best of friends, Fallon. But I know for sure we share a past together," Vika said, then turned to look at her friend. "That said, we are surrounded, so maybe activate that ridiculous ability of yours, or else we will die."
Fallon, lost in the slaughter, snapped back to her senses, finally coming to terms with what had happened.
Three Supreme Dark Fiends, oozing an even more sinister energy, stood surrounding them. Both ladies were now Demigods, but against the Supremes, they were outmatched.
Regardless, a smile formed on Fallon’s face.
"You know, I saw Unity kill a God King a few minutes ago, and she is just an Immortal Lord. What do you say we kill a Supreme or two... or maybe three?" Fallon said, and Vika smiled.
"Ah, I feel death crawling closer to me, but why not? I want to see how hard it is to kill a Supreme."
And so they moved, Fallon running left and Vika going right. Two followed Vika, and one followed Fallon. Naturally, the Supremes caught up to them soon enough. However, they had also fallen into the trap that the two ladies had conjured.
Fallon had a unique ability called [Ghost Tactic]. It basically allowed her to turn either herself or someone who trusted her enough to place a marker in their soul into a ghost.
Once activated, not even a Celestial could kill them for 15 mins. More importantly, even if they were separated by a million light-years, they could each teleport to one another.
This was already possible with Ghost Tactic, but it became even more powerful after joining the Chaos Dragon Harem.
Only one Supreme followed Fallon, so she made Vika a ghost, and just as she was surrounded, she vanished, appearing behind the lone Supreme.
Her dagger shot forward, aiming for a deadly stab at the Dark Fiend’s neck.
However, it reacted quickly, moving to catch her dagger.
"Don’t turn your back on me."
Fallon unleashed a deadly slash, severing the Dark Fiend’s arm. Then, with a somersault, she landed a vicious kick on its chin, throwing its head back.
This gave Vika the perfect chance to assassinate it.
"Poison Embodiment Daggers."
Both daggers became shrouded in purple mist, and with a deadly lunge, she embedded them directly into the Dark Fiend’s neck and ripped them out, tearing through its flesh.
"DIE!"
Fallon moved, lightning dancing across her sword.
The next second, the Dark Fiend was dead, and a new record was set on the battlefield, making the two ladies the first Demigods in the Chaos Dragon Harem to kill a Supreme in less than twenty seconds.
They had no time to celebrate since they were surrounded once again, this time by five more Supreme-level Dark Fiends. The ones they had evaded, allowing them to kill the lone Dark Fiend, had now returned with reinforcements.
"Very shameless of you people. Can’t you have pity on harmless ladies?" Fallon said with a smile, then winked at Vika. The latter understood what had to be done.
However, before the two ladies could make their move, someone with disheveled hair whipping wildly through the air, as though she had no sense of beauty, appeared before them.
Their hair surged forward, wrapping itself around the five Dark Fiends.
It happened so fast that before the ladies could make a sound, all five Supremes had been captured within a domain of hair.
"What in the hell?" Vika muttered, trembling in sheer horror as she felt an overwhelming resentment radiating from the Hair Domain. "Since when could Dia do that?"
"I don’t know, but she has been in seclusion ever since they returned from their mission. Maybe she awakened some hidden abilities," Fallon replied, taking deep breaths.
"And she seems to have become a God too, I suppose."
The Hair Domain trembled, and more strands of hair began whipping across the battlefield, capturing dark fiends.
Far away, Kent, in his demi-human form, frowned as he looked in the direction of the Hair Domain.
