Chapter 1828: Black Star Domain
Chapter 1828: Black Star Domain
Uncle Drew and his teammates stood atop a small hill overlooking the devastated battlefield where the Hell Demons Eryndor had summoned were raining down destruction on the Soul Temple agents.
"We warned them, so this is all their fault," Nara said, taking a deep breath. She didn’t seem that bothered since the people being attacked were their enemies.
"But who could blame them? They saw a group of seven weaklings and thought they had struck it rich," Saden said with a chilling smirk. She really had no pity for these people. If anything, she wished to join Eryndor’s Hell Demons in torturing them.
Alas, they had to rush to the Black Star Domain, the main location of their mission.
"Let’s go. I have a feeling something big has happened back home, so the earlier we get things done here, the better. I wouldn’t want us to return to much stronger versions of the weaklings we left a couple of months ago," Uncle Drew said, drawing his teammates’ attention away from the onslaught happening below them.
They each had a sense that something big had happened while they were gone.
They asked their friends back home, but everyone said they had been clearing dungeons ever since they left. Of course, Uncle Drew and his teammates didn’t believe them.
The first sign came when their connection to the tower became much stronger. This told them the tower had become stronger in their absence.
But if that was normal, considering they had witnessed the tower grow every now and then, the second change that drew their attention clearly made them believe something had happened.
The second change was the sudden loss of connection with some of their pals.
Every last member of the Legion had a connection to each other, just as Kent had a connection to his wives.
So during the Dark War, when some of them died, they lost that connection for a few seconds before it faintly formed again. It reformed when the cocoons currently holding the bodies of the dead legions appeared in the legion tower.
They had experienced it before, so Uncle Drew and his team knew a big battle had happened and that some of them had died. For some reason, they all felt like the battle that had happened was one they were supposed to be in.
Of course, it was true that, at one point during the Dark War, they were also having their fair share of battles, so Kent couldn’t afford to pull them away.
But during the Dark Era, they were the ones who stood against the dark creatures, so perhaps the conclusion should have involved them. Unfortunately, they missed it, but they weren’t planning to miss the next one.
They were much closer to the Black Star Domain...
"I am just happy Kaizo isn’t around to have some fun. I can already imagine his reaction when he returns and finds out something big had happened in his absence," Vargus said, and his friends laughed.
Just anticipating Kaizo’s devastated expression put their minds at ease and even made them happy. His plight would surely make them very happy.
"Let’s go. We have quite the ground to cover."
They soon left, heading deeper into the dead planet. The battlefield they left behind for the four Hell Demons would surely end with devastation and regret.
But they had no plans on witnessing that.
Of course, Eryndor could witness everything through the eyes of his four Hell Demons. But he had no plans to since he knew the order he had given them would end with the death of every last soul temple agent.
He even wondered just what the Soul Temple would do when another set of agents suddenly died. Naturally, he looked forward to that.
After 15 hours of flying, the Night Riders finally arrived in the Black Star Domain.
"When the master said the Black Star Domain is a dangerous place in all of the Dead World, he clearly failed to do justice to just how dangerous it really is," Saden said, looking at the vast and scorching stretch where their mission officially begins.
All they knew was that when they arrived in the Black Star Domain, they were going to officially start their mission. However, Kent never said what kind of mission they were on. He only said that when they saw it, they would know.
Now they were in the Black Star Domain, and despite just entering it, they could already sense the danger.
Of course, while everyone sensed danger, one teammate wore a slight frown. Uncle Drew noticed the frown on Nara’s face and asked, "Is everything alright, Nightblade?"
They each had code names, with Nara, his second-in-command, being Nightblade.
"I am not sure, but I think the Night Heart is here, in the Black Star Domain."
"REALLY?" The rest of her teammates widened their eyes upon hearing what Nara said.
"Like I said, I am not sure, but I can sense it coming from deep within this place. Honestly, I might be wrong, but if I am not, then I think the mission has to do with us retrieving the Night Heart."
The Night Heart is a sacred relic carried by the Night Maiden during the Dark Era. It unlocked the 14th level of Hell, the realm where the Night Riders have their powers chained, waiting for them to reclaim them.
It was said that when the 69 Night Riders died, their various legacies returned to the Realm of the Night, waiting for their rightful owners to reclaim them.
Right now, they each have partial legacies. However, with the Night Heart, which only Nara can wield, they all can reclaim their full legacies and, more importantly, they can locate the rest of their members easily.
"What are we waiting for? If the Night Heart is here, then we should retrieve it fast. The faster we get our hands on it, the faster we can finally have the gang back together again."
Riding into battle with all 69 members sure would be a sight to behold. After all, the Night Riders are known for their aura, especially when riding into battle using their Hellhorses.
"We have to first make sure it is indeed the Night Heart," Uncle Drew said before turning to Saden. "You should take point on this one, Midnight Arrow. Your affinity for shadow and true darkness is perfect for this mission."
Saden nodded and activated her shadow. At once, an identical copy of her appeared and merged with Nara’s shadow.
"I will scout ahead and let you know what I find. Should I die, you all should stop following and wait for me to awaken first."
They nodded, and soon she was gone.
Her shadow spirit inside Nara’s shadow is her way back from the dead. While one death cannot claim her soul, two would do, so she left her shadow spirit with her teammates and ventured into the scorching depths of the Black Star Domain, knowing she could easily die if she messed around.
Luckily for her, she is a Night Rider with an affinity for flames, shadow, and darkness. This place is like a swimming pool for her.
After waiting 30 minutes, Uncle Drew and the rest of the Night Riders ventured after her, making sure they kept an open focus, scanning for the first sign of danger.
