Chapter 1829: Black Fire Demon Dragon

Chapter 1829: Black Fire Demon Dragon

"Captain, I think I have located the source of the Night Heart, but I am not sure we can handle it," Saden’s voice rang in her teammates’ heads four days after arriving in the Black Star Domain.

She had taken the lead, scouting ahead to see if there were any dangers.

During the scouting mission, she had managed to evade most of the dangers but also encountered some truly chilling ones.

Regardless, after traversing the scorching and dangerous vastness of the Black Star Domain, she had arrived at the location where she knew their final mission would take place.

Uncle Drew and his teammates teleported and appeared beside her. Naturally, the moment they arrived, their gazes landed on the thing that made Saden say she wasn’t sure they could handle it.

That was because the creature they were looking at was a monstrosity like no other. It was a black dragon, its body three times Kent’s dragon form. Meaning it was 3 km long, which by dragon standards was large enough to be regarded as an Overlord.

But not only was this one no Overlord, but it was also dead—well, it was alive but dead.

It was an undead dragon at the rank of a Demigod, but none of the Night Riders believed the dragon before them was a Demigod. In fact, they didn’t believe it was even a god.

Its claws alone were enough to send shivers down the spine of anyone. And they sure did send shivers down the spines of the Night Riders.

"Looks like we have our work cut out for us, literally," Uncle Drew said with a smile, gazing at the giant dragon currently slumbering in the middle of a lava pool formed from a sea of flowing black flames.

"Whatever we are after is hidden beneath it, so regardless of how terrifying it may appear to be, we must kill it or find a way to get the Night Heart away from it," Nara revealed. Since she had the strongest connection to the Night Heart, she could feel the exact direction it was coming from.

"Killing it is impossible, so we should plan for a snatch-and-grab," Uncle Drew stated, not trying to hide the impossible nature of their mission. It wasn’t because they lacked the strength; they had plenty of that.

It was just that the dragon was far beyond anything their combined strength could handle.

The most they could do was fight it and find a way to take what they had come for. But looking at the monstrosity, Vargus couldn’t help but ask,

"I am not one to shy away from a good and impossible battle, but do we really wish to fight this dragon? I have this feeling deep within me that our deaths are currently slumbering there. It has no flaws from what I can perceive at the moment."

"If we play our cards right, then surely we can complete this mission. However, we will need the four Hell Demons, so Eryndor, summon them again."

Eryndor nodded and summoned his four Hell Demons, who had long finished torturing and killing the Soul Temple agents.

Now, they would get to fight something far beyond them.

Of course, when they appeared, all four of them sensed the challenge, and so they took a deep breath.

"Master, I never knew you held us in such high esteem. But aren’t you overestimating us a little?" Xuanli said, a small giggle escaping her lips.

"I mean, look at the monstrosity we are being asked to kill. This creature is straight from those dreadful zones in Hell, even more dreadful than the domain I ruled back then."

Eryndor laughed at Xuanli’s attempt to make them aware of the danger.

"We are going to fight it, and some of you may die or, worse, sustain grave injuries. Just so you know, I sympathize with you and promise to reward you later."

His four Hell Demons smirked, their expressions brightening up a bit. They recognized the challenge and, as Hell Demons, wished to live up to their master’s expectations.

Uncle Drew knew the plan had to be solid, so after three hours of strategizing, they were ready to move out.

"Good luck, everyone. If things end well, we will see each other later. If not, then see you on the other side."

With those final words, a shadow moved across the landscape at a terrifying speed, approaching the dragon. Just when Saden entered the 5,000-meter radius, the dragon snapped its crimson eyes open, waves of death qi emanating from them.

A powerful pressure descended upon the scorching field where the chaos of battle would soon reshape the landscape.

Saden staggered, but she quickly regained her balance and continued moving.

"You got this, Saden," Saden said to herself, pushing forward. Just when she entered the 500-meter range of the dragon, she stopped, and in her place, Vargus appeared and threw his battle axe, enchanting it with his energy.

The axe grew to 200 meters in length, with the blade alone measuring 100 meters.

Green flames mingled with lightning to bathe the axe.

This sudden change in the air made the dragon raise its head, or at least try to move. Just before it could lift its head, three Hell Gates opened above it, and Thrakos, Kha’zixarath, and Zandros jumped out, landing on the metallic back of the dragon.

They attacked at once, dividing the poor dragon’s attention. This split second of distraction gave the battle axe the perfect opportunity to land, and it did.

BOOOOM!

A powerful explosion rocked the landscape, sending a shockwave of black lava into the air.

"Oh, this is a bad idea," Nara said, but through the chaos and shockwave, she activated her Night Rider form, taking on the appearance of a wraith.

She is a half-demoness, half-wraith after all, so she assumed that form, discarding her physical body. The next second, she faded out of existence, and when she reappeared, she stood before the giant dragon, her 12-meter wraith form wielded a 14-meter-long greatsword poised for an attack.

Because the three Hell Demons had already distracted it, when Nara appeared, the dragon was caught by surprise. But she didn’t hold back for even a moment. She went for the kill immediately, her greatsword trailing green flames.

BANG!

Her sword struck the dragon’s neck as it tried to raise its head above the angle of the blade, but failed miserably. The sword landed squarely on its neck, and for a brief moment, one would wonder if death was certain.

However, when the dust cleared, and not even a dent appeared on its neck, the natural reaction should have been for Nara to widen her hollow wraith eyes.

But instead, she smiled chillingly. Then, still in her wraith form, she faded out of existence, her greatsword turning into mist.

The next second, the dragon lifted its head and roared furiously. Unfortunately for it, the attack had already been delivered, and the results were immediate.

Inside its tainted soul, Uncle Drew, Saden, Lene, and Xuanli appeared, thanks to Xuanli’s uncanny ability to transport tangible beings into the soul of anyone she came into contact with.

Standing 10 km away atop a mountain with the lolis, Kent smiled, seeing how well the series of attacks that had unfolded in less than two seconds had played out.

"Now then, show me how you can take down this monstrosity."
