Chapter 1853: Amon’s Guillotine Cave (3)

Amon’s Guillotine Cave clearly isn’t for everyone. Traveling for an hour without encountering danger is rare.

Inaya and her team always had to be on high alert, since a slight mistake could result in an attack so dangerous that all three of them wished they had never come to this dreadful place.

Luckily, Baldy seemed to be in a good mood, so he was always proactive, facing the dangers before they came.

His mood was high because Gaia and her minions went out of their way to fill his space ring with all kinds of candy. Gaia is the Cosmic Weaver, so by tapping into the cosmos, she can pull just about anything from anywhere she wants.

Since Baldy is the only male in their group, they treated him to the best delicacies that would last him for months, perhaps even years.

After traveling due east for two weeks, they came to a halt before a large river filled with clean, green water. The green mist covering the water’s surface reeked of poison, so dense that even from 2 km away, they could sense their bodies reacting to it.

"It is strange how everything here reeks of sword intent, yet mutated in a way," Baldy said, seated on Mak’s shoulder.

"That is the strange nature of this place, Baldy," Inaya said. "The last time I was here, I managed to cultivate my sword intent to a monstrous level simply by watching many beasts and beings fight using it.

If you stay here long enough, you will come to appreciate the great benefits you can reap. However, it is dangerous in every way, so staying on high alert is ideal. Regardless, we are here."

"We are?" Mak asked, his brow furrowed.

In his mind, this place doesn’t seem like a place a person should live.

"Yes. The person I came to see is the overlord of this domain." Inaya let out a deep sigh. Then, after a few hesitations, she said, "He is a badmouth, so kindly cut him some slack. Well, it would be good if you cut him all the slack you have because we are in his domain, and I don’t think we have what it takes to take him on, much less his minions."

Baldy and Mak, who knew how fearless Inaya was, furrowed their brows upon hearing her warning. It appeared she was wary of this person.

They, of course, became curious to meet the person who could make the fearless Inaya weary.

The next second, however, they tensed when someone spoke from behind them.

"Looks like you still hold me in high regard, Sleeping Beauty."

The person who spoke was a white-haired man in his late fifties. He looked fit and, by some standards, handsome. However, aside from his age and hair, he had green, leathery skin and a serpentine tail.

He had four arms and serpentine black eyes, the reeks of danger and mischief. He was clad in a human-like cloak.

If there is one thing Mak is good at, it is reading people. He excels in that regard; in fact, in most cases, whenever he faces someone in battle, he can tell exactly how dangerous they are and whether or not he can face them.

Today, his senses told him this person was a calamity, and, more importantly, he couldn’t even sense what made this person so dangerous.

He appeared ordinary, but Mak knew he was very dangerous.

Instinctively, he held Baldy’s arm, almost as if he didn’t want him to do anything funny.

Inaya, on the other hand, turned to the newly arrived, smirked, and asked, "Aren’t you too old to be sneaking up on people, Damba?"

"Oh, please. It wasn’t like you never expected it. Or are you telling me that after you returned to the Land of Bugs, you had become dull?"

Inaya chuckled upon hearing how Damba referred to the universe beyond Amon’s Guillotine Cave.

She turned to Mak and Baldy. "This is Damba, one of the many Overlords who live here. He cultivates Poison, and as you can see, he is very shameless in everything he does."

She smiled and introduced her teammates to Damba. "The pink-haired one is Mak, and the bald one is Baldy. They are my friends."

Damba studied the two for a few seconds before smiling. "Some friends you have, Inaya. Though I have to say, they aren’t ordinary at all, so why did you bring them?" He smiled and added, "Just so you know, I have stopped eating humans, but I wouldn’t mind a snack."

Baldy narrowed his eyes and was about to curse at the green-skinned man, but Mak covered his mouth. Seeing this, Inaya shook her head.

"Stop scaring the kid, Damba."

Damba didn’t seem to care.

Instead, he turned to Inaya and asked, "Why have you returned? And alone at that. You do know the Ash Maiden is still out to get you. She is even convinced you are still here somewhere, so she has her minions snooping around every now and then."

Inaya frowned a bit, but she didn’t panic. "I am not here for her, so you can rest assured that what happened the last time won’t happen again. But if she still comes after me, then guess what? She is in for a rude awakening."

"Oh, you seem rather confident. Did something happen that I am not aware of?" Damba asked with a curious look in his eyes.

He had intended to scare Inaya, but it appeared she wasn’t scared so easily this time around. When they first met, he had captured her and was planning on eating her.

However, Inaya had managed to convince him to free her.

In return, she would tell him stories from the world outside. The Calamity Zones are restricted in such a way that the beings inside can only leave by becoming companions to the natives of the Infinity Universe.

The problem, however, was that no beast or living being in this place would dare bow their head to anyone. So they were destined to remain trapped in this place forever.

Inaya managed to pique Damba’s interest, and so, for years, she revealed almost all she knew about the Infinity Universe to him. This was why he had come to realize Inaya’s bottleneck.

"Something did happen, as you can see, but that isn’t why I am here."

"Then why are you here?"

"Do you remember that race I told you about... you know, the Forsaken Race?"
