Chapter 1937 Revenge Is a Bitch(22)
Vexthra didn't immediately respond to Crimson Dagger's message. Instead, she looked at Alina and asked, "Just one Pseudo-Primordial grade blood essence will do, right?"
"Yes, just one."
Vexthra extended her hand, summoned a cube-shaped artefact, and handed it over to Alina. "Contained in this are all the blood essences harvested so far. You can take as many as you want."
Alina received the cube with a slightly stunned expression. "This is a bit too much, but I won't complain."
"Then don't complain." Vexthra reverted to her normal form, and her Primordial Spirit returned to her Primordial Space.
"I don't know how much stronger the Battlefield Matrix has become, so prove to me what you can do, and maybe we might just succeed in wiping out the Grim Arcane Legends."
Alina smiled and nodded.
She retrieved the blood essence of a Pseudo-Primordial and activated the Blood Essence Array instantly, fusing it with the Battlefield Matrix.
The moment the blood essence fused with it, the formation changed color from light gold to dark gold. Then, a very powerful pressure came from it instantaneously, causing the Pseudo-Primordials already under its assault to tense up.
The seven instantly turned pale, and before they could move, thick arrows materialised in the air and lunged at them.
Five of them were quick to mount a defense, barely surviving the onslaught. Two were too slow, and so the arrows went through their chests.
While they didn't die, the arrows were coated with a very nasty poison, so they collapsed onto the ground and started twitching like bugs.
The Battlefield Matrix rotated, and this time, 5-meter-long spears lunged forward, causing the five remaining to tense up yet again. This time, the spears broke through their defenses and pierced their chests.
"This is..." Vexthra was left stunned, and so were Dia, Ruby, and Yukiko, who had witnessed the double bombardment.
It was so chilling that they forgot they were staring at a demigod whose most striking quality was her butt.
Alina smiled, staring at the seven Pseudo-Primordials, barely conscious on the ground. After making sure they couldn't rise back up again, she turned and looked at Vexthra...
"Don't look at me, big sister. This was all Kent's doing. Three days ago, he unlocked an aspect of the Battlefield Matrix that he believes, if we harness it well, can aid me in killing Celestials easily.
So we spent an entire day working on it. When we finished and tested its power against Celestial-grade beasts, the results were more than I expected.
We discovered that the Battlefield Matrix can do more with the right power source. So we tested it against Pseudo-Primordial-grade beasts, and, well, it was safe to say that what I wanted had been achieved without my knowledge.
Now, I can kill Pseudo-Primordials as long as I can provide Pseudo-Primordial-grade blood essence and use that as the power source."
Vexthra could only look at Alina as if she had seen a monster.
"Of course, keeping it active for long takes a lot of soul power. But against Pseudo-Primordials, I can go for more than 10 minutes. That is more than enough time for me to kill a dozen of them."
"Then do that, and once you are tired, retire to the tower."
Vexthra turned toward Dia, Ruby, and Yukiko. "Alina and Dia will handle the rest. So return to the main battlefield and hold them back for a few minutes. I will be right back."
Vexthra teleported into the tower and retrieved her communication jade. "Lord Crimson Dagger, are you done with your side of the battle?"
"Yes, my lady."
"Any casualties?" Vexthra asked.
"No, my lady. Only a few injuries, but they will be fine after a few patches."
"Good, then your assistance will be highly appreciated right about now. That is, if you don't mind."
"Not at all, my lady. Helping you is akin to helping Lord Faceless."
Vexthra smiled, and then she issued a command to the tower and said to Crimson Dagger, "Some portals will open right now. Lead your teammates inside. I am waiting for your arrival."
Ten portals opened for Crimson Dagger and his team of Midnight Shadows assassins... "The battle is far from over, so move inside and make sure you bring pride to the Faceless Assassin and the Midnight Shadows."
The assassins hummed and started entering. Crimson Dagger took the lead, appearing inside the Legion Tower almost the exact same moment he stepped inside.
"My lady."
Vexthra nodded at him and waved her hand, manifesting thousands of necklaces. "Share these with your teammates. They are life-saving treasures that will grant them a second life when struck with a force strong enough to kill them."
Crimson Dagger didn't argue. He did as he was told and shared the necklaces with his teammates. Within 5 minutes, they were all ready to head over to the battlefield.
"Thank you all for doing this. After the battle, I will put in a good word for you all and ensure the Faceless Assassin rewards you accordingly," Vexthra pledged.
Then she issued the command.
'Tower, teleport them to the battlefield.'
Somewhere at the stronghold, thousands of warriors led by two Pseudo-Primordials charged toward Unity and some of the members of the Eternal Wrath Legion.
The number was so great that if they got any closer, Unity and her teammates would be in danger. However, just when they were 300 meters away, dark-clothed assassins appeared and surrounded them.
The tower intentionally teleported the Midnight Shadows, placing them around the approaching warriors. So before they could even make heads or tails of what had happened, they were already surrounded.
"Midnight Shadows!" Nobody knew who shouted, but the moment they recognised the assassins that had surrounded them, their formation broke, and the Midnight Shadows didn't allow them to recover.
"KILL!"
Shadows moved, and soon, the most chilling display of silent massacre erupted.
Unity stood in the air, her brow furrowed, shock evident in her eyes... "So this is what the Midnight Shadows are capable of, huh?"
She had heard so much about them from Liora, but hearing and witnessing are two different things. In a span of 30 seconds, thousands had died, and the Midnight Shadows didn't even show any sign of slowing down.
"We might just win this battle."
It didn't take long for the first casualty to appear on Vexthra's team.
