Chapter 868: Soul Universe Unleashed
Chapter 868: Soul Universe Unleashed
[The Lightning Peak - Planning]
"So the beast we are going after is a Metal Wing Lightning Hawk," Kent said to Adina and Iver. "It has wings made of metal, making it one of the deadliest beasts you will ever meet.
It is also fast, and yes, it is faster than all of us."
Adina raised her finger, causing Kent to pause and listen to her. "If it is faster than us, how then are we going to kill it?"
She had accepted to join the mission, so it was only right to know that the end of this enterprise would mean the beast was dead and she was walking away alive.
Kent smiled. "It is fast, but as humanoids, we have superior reaction time, or at least we are supposed to have a much faster reaction time.
So that is our play here. I possess a skill that will provide us with a clear view of the battlefield. Now, Iver, since you are the strongest here, you will first make your presence known.
This means you will be the bait. However, you are only required to act once because the moment the beast notices you, it will attack.
You must evade its attack or defend against it.
The moment it attacks, Adina, you will also attack it, doing everything possible to catch its attention at least, then leave the rest to me."
"What if you can’t handle it after I’ve unleashed my attack, and it evades it? Even worse, what if Iver couldn’t evade, or my attack did little to nothing to catch its attention? What then will you do?" Adina asked.
"That is all in my calculation, and I am confident, regardless of what happens, provided it doesn’t attack me first, I will be able to kill it."
Adina wanted to ask more questions, but upon seeing the confident look on Kent’s face, she knew he had high hopes for his plan, so she could only support him.
"Iver, can you handle your task?" Kent asked, and Iver nodded.
"I believe I can take on one attack from it."
"Very well. If it attacks twice, don’t worry; I will be there to handle it. Just be sure to handle the first attack."
Iver nodded, and then the meeting went on for a few seconds before they came to a solid conclusion.
"I trust this team, so we should be able to get this done," Kent smiled, walking out of the tent.
[Master, why do you need them again? I believe with just you, this will be much more efficient, though slightly dangerous. Why do you need them to participate?]
The tower asked, making the smile on Kent’s face deepen.
"Very simple, my dear tower. I need them in the upcoming battles, so I plan on using this mission to gain their trust, and that includes Iver, despite having control over his mind.
As you mentioned, if I go out, I can at most face three Tier 5 Spirit Lords at a time, but I won’t be able to kill them easily.
If I use this mission to show especially Adina the kind of person I am, she will be inclined to accept the crazy plans I have in mind in the upcoming missions."
[I suppose I still have more to learn from the master when it comes to battle and warfare.]
"That you do, tower. Be an obedient assistant, and I will show you the ropes."
After a few minutes, the tent was deactivated, and the mission was a go.
Kent and his team started climbing the 140 km tall mountain.
Iver was leading the way, climbing from one side of the mountain, while Adina and Kent were on a different part.
The moment they crossed the 100 km mark, the peak of the mountain shuddered.
"Soul Map."
Kent immediately activated one of the skills he had awakened from the soul universe. It was a sensing skill that allowed him to see the 200 miles around him.
When he first awakened it, the range started at 20 miles, but now that he was nearing the peak of the Core Formation stage, it had expanded.
"Map Share."
He activated the second ability of the same skill, sharing the map view with both Adina and Iver.
The moment the connection formed with them, their eyes widened, seeing the clear view of the entire mountain appear in their minds.
They saw the beast stir and start looking in their direction.
Iver, who was the closest to its location, was the first person it saw. However, now that Iver had seen everything there was to see about the mountain, he moved, feeling more confident.
The moment he moved, the beast also turned, taking its attention away from Adina and Kent.
Adina then used the moment to get into position. Kent, who saw all this, smiled, knowing his two teammates knew their mission well.
Iver moved swiftly, but he could sense the beast locking its attack on him, so he also prepared his defense.
---
[The kill strike]
The moment the beast unleashed its attack on Iver, Adina also drew her sword and coated it with a potent white sword aura.
"Looks like she is still hiding her strength," Kent smiled, but he already knew that with the profound sword aura around her sword, the mission wouldn’t be compromised in any way.
The beast, a colossal hawk with metallic wings and talons, opened its beak, forming a ball of lightning. The moment the attack locked on Iver, he felt his hair stand on end.
Kent moved at the very moment because he knew his window had opened.
At the same time, the ball of lightning was fired at Iver, who saw the attack coming, but he wasn’t fast enough to dodge. Even so, she was ready, so he raised five layers of defenses.
BOOM.
The attack landed on the first layer, shattering it instantly. But it didn’t stop there; it shattered both the second and third...
However, when it landed on the fourth, the beast turned to its left and let out a loud screech, but just like Iver, it also wasn’t ready for the white sword arc that came from its left, landing squarely on its wing.
It was sent moving back by the attack.
"Now."
A thin sword oozing with potent soul energy appeared before Kent, and like lightning, it flashed through the air with a hand gesture from Kent.
It zipped really fast, and before the beast could notice what was happening, the sword went through its left eye and came out of the right.
But it didn’t stop there.
Kent used hand gestures again to move the sword at crazy angles, pouring a large amount of soul essence into it.
In a blinding sequence of movements, the sword pierced through the neck of the beast several hundred times in under two seconds, leaving thin golden lights crisscrossing in the air.
When the lights went out, the beast’s head fell off its body and landed on the ground with a heavy thud.
However, before the head even fell, the sword moved and cut apart the lightning ball that was almost on the last defense Iver raised.
If it had managed to reach him, his body would have sustained heavy injuries. However, before the head thudded to the ground, the lightning ball was cut apart, saving Iver.
*Sigh*
