Chapter 998: Taming Quest (9) [Bonus]
BOOM
Kent was hurled like a rag doll, slamming into a mountain 3 miles away.
ROAR
A towering giant of molten rock, with rivers of lava flowing across its body, roars, shaking the very ground beneath it. Its body seems to have been formed from the ground; however, that is not the case.
Just like with Orvath, whose flame can turn solid and form into armor, Balrion can also solidify his flame using it to augment his beast form.
But that isn’t all: aside from solidifying his flame, he can also increase the weight, making his fist a deadly armament.
Kent, along with Sylvara, Kaelith, Zeraphine, and Orvath, had just arrived in the Molten Abyss, and as they expected, Balrion was waiting for them.
Kent, of course, tried to reason with him, but Balrion said that if he could last 20 minutes with him, he would willingly become his subordinate.
Naturally, Kent knew he was on his own, so he faced him only to be sent flying like a doll.
"Damn, you punch like a mountain," Kent burst out of the mountain, his clothes torn to shreds. Thankfully, it is a soul item, so it started to repair itself.
"However, I am no pushover."
34,000 flame veins activated, and Kent’s strength rose severalfold.
"Again."
He moved, his tiny fist armed at Balrion’s own large fist.
"BOOM"
This time, instead of being sent flying, Kent was only pushed back 400 meters, and Balrion moved back 3 steps.
"Interesting. You managed to push me back." Balrion seemed to recognise Kent’s strength, making him happy.
"I am no weakling, Balrion." Kent wiped a trace of blood from the corner of his mouth and looked at Balrion, who gave him a nod of recognition.
"In that case, why don’t we have a good battle?" At once, his 16-meter height was reduced to just 2 meters.
"I have compressed my height, which in no way has affected my strength. So be ready; things will become more lively now."
Kent laughed. "In that case, let me also get ready." The gauntlet Kent bought when he was preparing to assassinate the members of the Blue Flame Pill Palace appeared, and he put it on.
"I am ready," he said.
"Then let’s have a good battle."
Kent moved, and Balrion also moved, clashing in the air. The void cracked where the first impact happened, but it closed the next second as they started moving at top speed, landing devastating blows on each other.
"Hahahaha... I have never been this alive in the thousands of years I have lived," Balrion’s voice boomed as he landed a punch on Kent’s chest, only for Kent’s fist to also connect with his ribcage.
Both were pushed back, but they clashed again the next second.
"I also feel alive, though I have only lived for 21 years..." Kent’s laughter filled the air as he was sent slamming into the ground.
A large crater was formed, but the next second, he shot back up, and the duel between brutes only seemed to intensify.
"Brutes, they never know when to stop," Sylvara muttered, watching as Kent’s body started getting injured in many places, yet he showed no sign of backing down.
Balrion also had some cuts, but because his skin was made of stone, no blood seemed to be coming out. However, molten lava seemed to be seeping out from where he was being hurt.
Orvath looked at Sylvara and shook his head. "You are not a brute, so you wouldn’t understand. But we brutes actually see this as training. The more we are pounded, the stronger we become."
"Even worse, why would one wish to go through this just for strength?" Clearly, Sylvara was worried about Kent, who wasn’t using his dragon bloodline.
This limited his strength, making him weaker than Balrion. However, she also knew this was what Kent wanted, and as such, she could only hope he walked out safely in the end.
’Then again, on the brighter side, with him hurt, I would have to take care of him.’
With this thought, she saw that perhaps the brutes aren’t muscle-headed after all.
---
Thirty minutes later, Kent and Balrion were injured to the point they needed to relax and heal.
"Hahahahahaha..." Balrion and Kent burst out laughing, almost like they had known each other for years now.
"Best day of my life," Balrion said, sitting down to heal.
"Me too," Kent said, also sitting down. "I never expected to meet someone whose dedication to the path of Body Cultivation runs this deep."
"I am still a tad behind you, who has already attained the Nirvana Body."
"True, but I never really paid much attention to my body cultivation. However, today, you have enlightened me." Kent waved his hand, and green flames surrounded his body. He then did the same, and it surrounded Balrion.
When Zeraphine saw this, her eyes narrowed.
"Is that..." She turned to Sylvara, who smiled at her before speaking.
"That is indeed Nirvana flames."
"No way," she said, her eyes sparkling as she finally saw a Nirvana flame for the first time ever.
"Trust me, he is much more impressive than you think," Sylvara said, making sure her man’s image was further painted bright in Zeraphine and the two other monarchs listening to her.
"I guess attempting to kill him was my mistake."
"That was indeed stupid. Trust me, if he wanted, he would have killed you before you realised what happened," Sylvara said, causing Orvath and Kaelith to focus more on her.
"Was it him we felt days ago?" Kaelith asked, and Sylvara nodded.
"He came asking me to become his tame beast. However, I attacked him with over 40 Tier 19 beasts only to lose almost half of my force, and I was completely suppressed.
Even in my beast form, I couldn’t do anything."
The three Monarchs turned and looked at Kent, who was laughing with Balrion.
"Maybe he can indeed kill that abomination," Orvath said, and the rest nodded.
"So you really believe you can kill that bastard?" Balrion asked, having now heard why Kent sought his help.
"I am. I just want you and the others to hold back his subordinates for at least an hour."
"Don’t worry, we will do more than hold them back."
Kent smiled, feeling like he had just found his long-lost brother. Their spirit level was the same, showing just how much they were getting along.
’Kaizo is going to have a blast with him.’
Five hours later, all wounds, both internal and external, were healed. He went ahead and added six subordinates from Balrion, and then, with his newly gained allies, he sent them to look for the ingredients for the pills.
He had already received reports from the others that they had found some of the ingredients. Not all had been found yet, but they were still searching, so it was only a matter of time.
"Fascinating," Balrion observed Sylvara’s innate beast body with a smile on his face. "Once I awaken my innate beast body, not even Ignarok can match me physically."
"That is true," Kent said. "After all, you are a true Body Cultivator. It is only a matter of time before you reach a level only a few immortals could measure up to."
After spending some time handling some minor business, Balrion joined the voyage and began heading to the Eternal Nest, where Vey, the phoenix queen, lives.
