Chapter 999: Taming Quest (10)

Chapter 999: Taming Quest (10)

"Balrion, I was told you are the only Monarch who has some form of relationship with the Phoenix Queen. Care to share some pointers on her behaviour?"

Kent asked, sitting on Kaelith’s back as they headed toward Vey’s domain.

Balrion had now taken on his human form, which was that of a bronze-skinned warrior with volcanic eyes. He has rather solid muscles and a completely bald head.

However, he was not that scary for a beast whose entire form was made of rocks.

In his human form, he wields a warhammer that can split almost anything. Kent was quite impressed with how robust his human form is.

"I wouldn’t say I have a relationship with her, since she is just dislikable," Balrion smiled. "However, I have interacted with her in the past and can say she is a feisty one.

Also, among us seven, she is the only one who can go to the human worlds without worry, so she has more knowledge of your worlds than any of us.

This means convincing her will be impossible unless you have something that can even make a prideful phoenix like Vey impressed or extremely afraid."

Kent smirked, already aware of how annoying phoenixes can be.

He himself is a dragon, or even if he wasn’t a full dragon yet, he had once been a dragon and knew how his kind hated phoenixes.

Kent knew things wouldn’t go well if he showed his dragon form, so he planned to use his knowledge of the human world to entice her. However, learning that she could go to the human world made him change his plans.

"Do you have any idea how she manages to go to the human world without the humans noticing?"

Kent had already asked Sylvara why she and her kind never tried leaving the Flame Sea, considering they could take on near-perfect human form.

He found out that a formation had been placed around the entirety of the Cosima, which not only dampens their cultivation by one level if they try to leave but also transforms them back into their beast form.

Of course, beastkins from outside the flame sea can come and go without any issue; however, this formation was coded specifically to affect her kind, making it nearly impossible to leave.

All beasts in the flame sea cannot leave.

It was also one of the many reasons why they were hostile to humans and other adventurers who came to their world.

They also had a way of identifying outsiders, just as humans can do to them, unless, of course, they were tamed by humans.

However, Vey could come and go as she pleased. This piqued Kent’s interest, so he wanted to learn more about it.

Balrion rubbed his bald head. "I am not sure how she was able to achieve that. However, Vey has an ability that allows her to take on the appearance of those she kills.

Though her aura will still be that of a phoenix, I am sure the formation wouldn’t be able to flag her. She may have other means, but I am sure this also contributes to her uncanny ability to come and go as she pleases."

"I see." Kent could already see that what Balrion said was the case. However, with his knowledge in disguise, he knew there was more to what he said, and he intended to find out.

---

Five days later, a canyon of cracked volcanic ridges appeared in their view. Kent could see golden flames rising from nests of molten stone and falling in a cataclysmic display of beauty and danger.

"Vey has one of the most dangerous domains in the Flame Sea," Sylvara said, "however, if you have the heart and will to venture there, then your gains will be bountiful."

"How so?" Kent asked.

"The flame in this region is for healing. Also, it is for destroying. Those who can cultivate here can gain either a healing aspect or a destruction aspect from the flame. Some even both.

However, due to these aspects, both Vey and her subordinates are almost immortal. Some, including Vey, even have the ability to rise from the ashes after you kill them.

This is mostly why, when they sense they are near death, they choose to explode their core, mainly to take their opponents with them," Sylvara smirked.

"Nasty birds, if you ask me," Zeraphine added, causing Kent to laugh. He could already tell why Vey was the second strongest.

Exploding her core can kill any of them, Kent included. But because of her unique flame, she will rise back from the ashes, only losing a stage on her cultivation base.

Kent was quite impressed by all he heard about the next Monarch on his list.

"Looks like she is expecting us," Kent said, gesturing for Kaelith to slow down.

Even from a distance, Kent could see how gorgeous she looked. Sylvara’s eyes narrowed when she saw the slender woman staring at them from afar.

"How I want to punch her face right now."

Kent smiled, "Relax, Sylvara, she is going to be your sister soon, so learn to accept her as one of you."

"Tch, as if anyone wants her in their family." She turned her back on Vey, who, thanks to her enhanced eyesight, could clearly see Sylvara.

"My dear Sylvy, why are you turning your back on me?"

Vey asked, her golden hair flowing in the air. Thanks to her clothing choice, Kent could see her slender legs and round butt showing from her not-too-large but extremely attractive hips.

Her chest was also bouncy, with nipples clearly showing in her leather tank top. Her flat tummy was bare, and her thighs were fully exposed.

Even her cameltoe was on full display in her tight leather jeans, causing Kent to narrow his eyes when he saw that.

Kent placed his hand on Sylvara’s waist and pulled her closer to himself. Then, allowing Vey to see, he gave her ass a firm squeeze.

Vey’s eyes narrowed, and golden flames rose from behind her, forming into a bow.

"I wouldn’t do that, lady," Kent said, also raising his hand.

A black flame instantly appeared, causing the monarchs around to feel a sense of dread. They stepped back despite knowing Kent wasn’t aiming at them.

The flame solidified, forming a spear.

Vey’s eyes narrowed further, a cold sweat forming on her forehead.

"Nirvana flames," she muttered, but every last monarch heard. They turned and looked at the black spear.

"Just a mere drop of it, but yes, it is indeed a Nirvana flame. The Umbral Flame of Oblivion, which I think we both know, if I attack with it, your death will be slow and agonizing."

Kent waved his hand, and the spear dissolved, taking away the dreadful feeling. "So why don’t you invite us to your home and listen to what I am here for first before you decide on dying this hot afternoon?"

Being threatened by a flame of Nirvana, and the Umbral Flame of Oblivion at that, only a fool would dare challenge it.

Vey was no idiot. She might have been arrogant, prideful, and annoying, but she was no fool. She recognized the danger and decided not to throw her life away.

’Mother said the Umbral Flame of Oblivion is a counter for Golden Life and Death Flame. If I were to die from its attack, there would be no rebirth for me.’

Vey gulped and then waved her bow out of existence.

Kent smiled and then, holding Sylvara’s hands, he told Kaelith to move. Soon, they entered Vey’s domain. She led them to her home, which was a huge mansion made from golden stones tempered in flames.

"Luxurious, huh?"

Right when they stepped in, Kent could feel dozens of Flame Veins forming. Also, he received a rather interesting message that instantly put a smile on his face.

⟪Your Verdant Flame of Renewal is absorbing a tremendously large sum of Flame Essence⟫
