Chapter 873: Last day on Zoratian Planet
Chapter 873: Last day on Zoratian Planet
[Suck! Suck! Suck! Activated!]
As the vortex opened, it began to devour all the golden fragments with increasing speed and power, even affecting the golden face itself. The pull was irresistible, drawing everything into its center with relentless force.
The consciousness residing in this space was shocked as it began to lose control, its grip on the spiritual realm slipping away with each fragment consumed.
From the beginning it was meant to trap demi gods under level 4, a safeguard designed for weaker beings.
Vritra felt his soul strengthening the more he devoured, growing more powerful with each piece of golden essence absorbed, even the mysterious space began to crumble and got absorbed into his being. The sensation was exhilarating, each fragment adding to his power.
The golden face tried to use all sorts of methods to resist, attempting countless strategies, but how can it match a level 7 demi god? The gap in power was simply too vast to overcome.
Before long, Vritra’s soul remained alone into emptiness, the last traces of the golden consciousness fading away completely.
Not only has his soul strengthened after absorbing all that accumulated power, but he had obtained pieces of memories, fragments of a mind far greater than his own.
Roderick’s memories.
But first, Vritra returned to his body with a sudden gasp, finding that the cave had started to shatter around him, cracks spreading rapidly across the stone walls. The entire structure was collapsing inward.
With a thought, they all teleported outside before it could collapse completely, the cave imploding behind them moments after they vanished.
"What happened, husband?" Yennefer asked worriedly, stepping closer to him, for a few moments his body had gone completely still and unresponsive.
His soul had disappeared from their senses.
"It was a trap setup by Roderick for the heroes of this planet which should have been triggered once the new glyphs had been spread all over the world." Vritra said, breathing steadily, the memories weren’t too clear but he had obtained enough information to understand the basics.
"Is there something wrong with the new glyphs?" Teresa asked, she had observed them carefully and didn’t find anything overtly wrong with their structure.
"Not directly, but it draws some sort of external energy, that Roderick certainly has some grand ambitions." Vritra replied, his mind still processing the memories he had absorbed, then with a smile he added:
"But I was able to gain his location, he is currently present in some place called Crooked palace, very far away from here." The coordinates were clear in his mind now, imprinted from Roderick’s own knowledge.
Once they are close, he would easily be able to locate Roderick and confront him directly.
While discussing, the group didn’t linger in that location and left the kingdom, which was now in an uproar as the glyphs suddenly vanished.
Vritra wasn’t exactly sure about Roderick’s complete plan but knew he was planning to use these glyphs as a crucial component for it.
Since he was leaving this planet anyway, he decided to clean it up one last time, removing the potential threat before departing, and so with a thought, all the new glyphs disappeared at the same time across the entire planet.
People who were using those glyphs were baffled by the sudden loss, and so the chaos spread throughout the continent.
Without caring about any of it, once they were done with their business, the group returned to their home, now nearly a day remained before they have to leave this place forever.
"Sir Shitless, you should go ahead and check out how that place is." As they landed in the Yate realm, Vritra turned and spoke seriously, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"Already? What am I going to do for a whole day? What if I get caught?" the monk took a step back, clearly regretting his earlier volunteer decision back then. His face showed his uncertainty.
"Don’t you trust your owner- I mean, pet’s words? He will keep you safe, and we would be living there from now on, how could a single day be dangerous?" Vritra patted his shoulder reassuringly and asked Divine in his mind to send the monk to the higher being realm safely.
"...fine" sighing heavily, the monk resigned to his fate, accepting the inevitable.
He dejectedly followed them back regardless of his protests.
The Yate realm was crowded with people, bustling with activity and excitement, Gunter had organised a big event and the news of them leaving soon had already spread throughout the kingdom.
Gunter had appointed someone as the next head of the Yate family, someone he trusted enough with the entire kingdom’s future.
The event was yet to begin but the preparations were complete, everything arranged perfectly.
The ten headed directly into the Yate palace where Ava and Gunter were waiting for them, both in a good mood, their faces bright with anticipation.
"Son, you are back! How do you like the party outside? We can depart tomorrow, all the big people of this continent will be coming soon." Gunter spoke excitedly, his voice filled with enthusiasm, beside him rested a large bag packed with their belongings.
"It’s good, but have you really made your mind to go with us?" Vritra asked in a solemn tone, wanting to confirm their decision one final time.
"Yes." Ava answered firmly without hesitation, they had a talk about it thoroughly and there really was no reason to stay here anymore.
This authority and position could be gained again somewhere else, but the two didn’t want to separate from their child for any reason.
"Okay then, I need to do something, I will be back in a minute." After speaking, he started walking away and gestured for Shitless to follow him.
SIGH
Shitless silently followed after him and the two paused near the house of darkness where Bullo was present, a portal had already appeared before it, shimmering with ethereal energy.
"But what am I even going to do there?" Monk Shitless asked desperately, still hoping to find a way out.
"You are a monk, just do that, spread kindness into the world." Vritra answered simply, not everyone is lucky enough to have friends like this, taking the front themselves.
Willingly, shielding them from harm.
"But-"
With a kick from Bullo, Shitless was thrown into the portal before he could speak anything, his protests cut short.
"And its done." As the portal closed behind the monk, Vritra looked at Bullo and asked seriously:
"What did Roderick plan to do? You must be aware right?" The question was directed at Divine, communicating through Bullo.
"Yes I know." Divine’s voice sounded in his mind, as he explained without hiding anything, revealing the complete truth:
"Roderick is close to reaching the higher being level, he planned to refine the fate of everyone here and refine the planet itself to create a pill that would grant him that level."
"Oh! Why was he waiting for the heroes to appear and reach the 2nd or 3rd level? And what’s up with the glyphs?" Vritra continued with his questions, needing to understand the full scope of the plan.
He can make some guesses about few things but it was better to get the whole information from Divine directly.
"You know, with each game the planet itself evolves, the planet and people have massive gains so he needed to wait for that evolution to complete. As for those glyphs, with them its easier to control everything here." Divine answered both the questions patiently, as if teaching a student.
"I see, so our action today disrupted his plan?" Vritra asked, wanting confirmation of their impact.
"Indeed, but he must have backups, or maybe this was merely a backup plan itself."
"Hmm We will proceed tomorrow as planned." After nodding in understanding, Vritra turned and walked back towards the palace, his expression contemplative.
Divine remained there for a bit longer and then disappeared; how can he let his pet be alone in that desolate place? He would ensure Shitless’s safety personally.
Vritra found his wives gathered together, Ava talking with some women, the guests of the event while Gunter was introducing the new family head to important figures in the kingdom.
It was a middle aged man who had worked under Gunter for many years and was already at the lord rank, he mostly remained hidden in the shadows and was responsible for plannings and eliminations secretly.
Vritra walked over and was greeted by everyone present there respectfully, they all knew exactly how powerful he was, all being very respectful and courteous.
After making small talks with various nobles, Vritra looked around at the grand hall that was prepared for this event, it was truly magnificent in every way.
A lost must be spent, even the chairs and tables for guests were made of rare metals and precious materials, each so expensive that small kingdoms would keep them hidden in their treasury. The craftsmanship was exceptional.
Yate family didn’t lack richness or resources of any kind.
All the people were shocked hearing that Gunter was leaving to follow his son to another realm.
Of course some were happy about the change, some were not, and just like that the event continued throughout the day.
After talking with some guests and nobles, Vritra separated from them and sat down away from the crowd, observing the gathering.
All people were putting such fake attitudes and forced smiles, many were hoping he would help them before going, hoping to alleviate their families to higher status.
Or maybe leave some treasure for them, after all Teresa is his wife and she had created countless treasures.
Just one of her creations would become their family’s heirloom for generations.
All sorts of families and organizations wanted a piece, hoping to gain something.
Vritra let Gunter deal with them all, he was used to such political games.
The people from Teresa’s family had also arrived, her grandfather, and brother were sad by the news and rich too.
They all came to meet her one last time, who knows if they can meet each other again or not.
One by one, his wives arrived beside him throughout the evening, they all exhausted from talking with these fawning ladies who wouldn’t leave them alone.
Some were so brazen that they directly showed their desire to become Vritra’s wife or concubine or even a maid in his household.
But they were all turned down politely but firmly.
Just like that time passed slowly, soon guests gave up their attempts and began to simply enjoy the event and its festivities.
Vritra along with his whole family sat together as they ate the last meal on the Zoratian planet, and it was really delicious, prepared by master chefs.
The event ended, and the crowd left the palace gradually as night fell.
The remaining day, they all spent together, just roaming in the Yate realm, enjoying each other’s company.
Ava did some shopping with the other women, all the people of the realm came to respectfully greet them as they passed, their lives had been really great in this realm and they would miss it.
The public was very sad that they were leaving, and worried about how their lives forward would be without Gunter’s guidance, but knew that Gunter must have made proper arrangements for the transition.
And just like that the day passed into evening, at night, no one slept and sat together on the palace balcony, staring at the starry sky above them.
Talking about the unknown future and some small plans for what was to come, the atmosphere was joyous while also a bit ambiguous and melancholic at the same time.
Vritra gazed at Yasmine affectionately, taking her head and resting it against his shoulder, soon they would be moving to a new home where their child would be born.
But first would come the godhood, the ascension that awaited them all.
