Chapter 500: Lokamanya City, Way of Grimverse
Chapter 500: Lokamanya City, Way of Grimverse
Muro Forest, Lokamanya City—the Republic of Beastfolk Union.
This vast forest stretching thousands of kilometers was a home to a myriad of beasts and beastfolks of various races.
The total population of beastfolks was 17.4 billion, and it was a big superpower in this area.
Muro Forest was rich in resources and was abundant in all aspects of the ecosystem, providing enough to both beastfolks and beasts living in it.
Any other races of people who invaded the forest for resources or to kill beasts were met with fierce resistance from beastfolks and beasts alike.
But now, a powerful treasure was about to ripen in this forest, and it had attracted the attention of forces more powerful.
"The only way for other people to gain entry into this Lokamanya City is to be proven innocent by their Judgement Tree. And you are innocent only if you have never actively killed a beast or taken resources with selfish intention in this forest."
Everyone looked at a giant tree with a mystical hollow trunk acting like a gateway into the city.
The passage was glowing with golden motes, and people were coming and going.
Ten guards with a powerful aura, enough to make Almond and others feel death approaching them.
’Don’t say anything. I’ll handle the talking.’
Levi relayed to everyone.
"Who are you? Please state your origins and purpose for the visit."
"Tell your leaders that Mr. Sirius’s associate is here." Levi smiled and added. "Here to help fight against the incoming doom."
The guards looked at each other with confusion, but the head guard nodded at one of the other guards. "Go."
"If you wish to enter the city, you can go ahead and walk the passage of truth."
The head guard said as he gestured.
"Let’s go." Levi started walking towards it.
Naturally, Levi and others passed easily.
Levi technically forced herself in because she had been here before this republic was even built, and she had killed strong beasts in this forest with her master.
But she was significantly stronger than the Judgement Tree and could easily overpower its influence.
The moment they stepped through the golden passage, the air shifted—warm, rich, and heavy with the mingled scents of rain-soaked wood, blooming flowers, and something faintly primal, like the heartbeat of the wild itself.
Lokamanya City unfolded before them in a sweep of grandeur that blurred the line between civilization, fantasy, and wilderness.
Massive skyward trees, their trunks wider than city streets, formed living pillars that supported entire districts in their branches. Homes, markets, and arenas were grown—not built—directly into their bark, their walls flowing like natural sculpture, adorned with glowing moss that swirled in intricate patterns.
Hanging vines, thick as ropes, served as bridges between colossal boughs, each one strung with lantern fruits—pear-shaped blooms that glowed softly, casting golden and emerald light.
Below, the forest floor was no less alive. Paved pathways of polished amber streaked between flowering groves and rushing crystal-clear streams.
Waterfalls spilled from higher platforms into sprawling ponds where water-beasts swam freely alongside children. Even the streets breathed with motion—roots shifting subtly to avoid obstructing travelers, petals falling in slow spirals to carpet the way in shifting hues.
The architecture was an orchestra of styles. Some buildings spiraled upward like seashells carved from polished stone, embedded with shards of living crystal that pulsed faintly in rhythm with the city’s life.
Others resembled woven nests of giant reeds, or towering totems shaped into beasts, their hollow interiors housing entire families. Everywhere, balconies bloomed with gardens, and rooftops bore trees whose leaves shimmered with metallic iridescence.
High above, suspended platforms floated by unseen means, ferrying people between the upper canopy and the heart of the city. In the distance, a colossal Tree-Palace dominated the skyline—its trunk spiraling like a colossal braid, its crown a vast canopy laced with silver streams of light that poured down like a soft rain of stars.
The people were as varied as the city—beastfolk with fur patterned like living jewels, others with antlers crowned in flowering vines, wings folded like cloaks, or eyes that gleamed like molten gold.
Everywhere was motion, sound, and life—market calls mixing with birdsong, the hum of hidden insects blending with the laughter of children chasing spirit-foxes down winding lanes.
It was not merely a city in a forest.
It was a forest that had decided to become a city—vast, alive, and breathing.
"Amazing, right?" Levi grinned. "Well, they surely made this city way bigger and more awesome than the last time I saw it. Just so you know, it was founded by the Silvarun family siblings, who were half-human and beastfolk. They were briefly trained by my Master."
Suddenly, the head guard arrived before them.
"I just got the response from the leaders." The head guard flatly stated. "They do not know any Mr. Sirius. As for your help against the incoming threat, you can register yourselves in that War Tower and join us."
After saying that, the guard promptly left.
Almond and Lily, who were behind Levi, saw her turning silent and used their soul sense to observe Levi’s face.
She was about to blow up.
But suddenly, she calmed down.
’Are they fucking kidding me?!’
Everyone heard her angry voice ringing in their heads.
’How dare they forget about Master!? He was the one who made this city possible! Without him, they wouldn’t be able to utilize this powerful tree at all!’
Almond and others confirmed their doubts.
Mr. Sirius was indeed none other than John Wicked.
Levi turned around to face the group. "Well, I want nothing more than to show my power and take this city under my control, but..."
"What’s stopping you?" Lily blinked.
"You all." Levi rolled her eyes. "It’s one of the punishing aspects of Grimverse. Basically, every intentional help you get from someone in a higher position than you significantly reduces your speed of gathering experience and potential."
"So the more you get help from someone, the longer you stay stuck in the same rank. On the contrary, the more difficult the situation you’re in, and the more you are targeted by other people of higher rank, the speed of gathering experience and potential increases significantly."
