Chapter 562: Grimblade Creation, Dreadgate Spawn

Chapter 562: Grimblade Creation, Dreadgate Spawn

As the ten seconds passed, Almond and Lily blanked out, their consciousness greeting complete darkness.

Almond opened his eyes.

Warm sand pressed against his palm. The air smelled of salt and something faintly metallic, like distant rain over iron. Waves lapped gently against the atoll’s edge, rhythmic and calm, yet beneath that calm he felt it. A pressure. Not on the body, but on awareness itself.

Lily stirred beside him, silver-blue hair spread across the sand like spilled starlight. Her eyes opened, instantly clear.

The sky looked wrong.

It was blue, but too deep, and layered like stacked glass. Thin fractures of light drifted slowly across it, as if reality itself was breathing. Far above, something massive moved behind the sky, its outline never fully forming.

A pulse rippled through the lagoon.

The water darkened near the center, spiraling inward. Something rose slowly, deliberately, as if answering a summons rather than surfacing by chance.

A creature formed from translucent coral and living water pulled itself onto the shore. Its body resembled a warped crustacean, but its core glowed with a dull cyan light, pulsing in uneven beats.

[Gentlebuck Reefspawn]

Lifeform: Adapt | Tier-2

Threat Rating: Low

Nature: Peaceful

Details:

— If it is fed fruits, it will give you a healing jelly in exchange.

Lily and Almond looked at each other and did not move.

The creature arrived and looked at them with its giant translucent, jelly-like gem eyes.

It slithered toward them and stretched its head to look at them carefully for two seconds before moving toward the tree behind them and starting to eat it.

"Cute." Lily smiled.

"Let’s move away and test our cards."

"And find fruits if possible."

"Yep."

Almond and Lily walked away.

Almond picked up something he saw, a shard of blackened driftwood, jagged and salt-worn.

"Let’s see what Grimblade Creation does to it," he said.

Thought aligned.

Pulse flowed.

The driftwood screamed. Not aloud, but conceptually, as its existence twisted. Black-gold lines carved themselves along its surface, sharpening, condensing, rewriting purpose. In an instant, the wood collapsed inward and reemerged as a narrow blade, its edge impossibly thin, its surface reflecting no light at all.

"Pretty cool." Lily blinked.

[Grimblade Deeprend]

Rank: 2-star

Grade: C

Effect:

— Attacks of this blade inflict stacks of Bleed on the target per hit.

— Bleed: 200% of Arihanta damage per second.

— At five stacks, you can trigger Deeprend, which deals 500% burst damage and heals you for the amount of damage dealt.

Durability: [800/800]

"It seems I do not have a limit to the number of Grimblades I can create."

Almond picked up a piece of coral reef that the gentle coral monster left behind and used Grimblade Creation on it.

[Grimblade Coralvein]

Rank: 3-star | A

Effect:

— This blade shoots coral slashes that heal the target and close wounds.

— Heal = 50% Constitution + 50% Arihanta.

— By charging it up, the slashes gain enchants that give buffs.

Buffs: Enhanced Healing, Stat Boost, Elemental Resistance, Physical Resistance.

"A healing blade?" Lily blinked.

Almond laughed. "Now that’s interesting. But only if I can control the blades without touching them."

He threw the Grimblade upward, and his eyes glinted. The blade paused midair.

"Great, it seems I can control it with my mind." Almond threw another blade and controlled both of them. "I feel a minor strain. It seems controlling blades depends on my Will stat."

The blade began glowing as he charged it up.

Lily had also used her card, Dreadgate Spawn, as a palm-sized Dreadgate manifested on a tree trunk at mid-height. It could really be placed anywhere, at any point she wished.

For now, the gate was pulsing, and she could feel it taking in various energies in the atmosphere.

"Five seconds to fully charge it with all four buffs." Almond shot the blade at Lily.

It struck her and caused her body to glow briefly before returning to normal.

"Interesting. All my stats increased by 10 percent, and I can feel the other buffs."

"That coral monster’s piece had some unique properties and had Pulse in it. In that case, if I use Grimblade Creation on something that I craft or concoct using multiple resources..." Almond’s eyes glinted with excitement. "I should be able to make a very powerful and high-ranking Grimblade."

Lily nodded and looked at her Dreadgate. "So it is kind of similar to my Dreadgate. If I feed it resources, it will generate stronger Dreadlings."

"The first one’s coming." Lily’s eyes glinted as she felt it.

The Dreadgate blinked, and from it, exotic particles flowed out before transforming into a glowing blue jellyfish with a crimson red gemstone in its body, spreading crimson patterns across its form.

Its tentacles pulsed with purple glows, with occasional blue and red sparks blinking within them.

"That looks creepy and beautiful at the same time." Almond chuckled.

"See what it does." Lily grinned as she shared its details with Almond.

[Dreadling Duaradox]

Rank: 3-star | C

Beam Attack: 50% Arihanta per beam.

Details:

— A dreadling that shoots three types of beams from its tentacles.

— It can shoot up to three beams per second from three tentacles at once.

— Blue Beam: Deals damage and inflicts Frostbite. At five stacks, freezes the target.

— Red Beam: Deals damage and inflicts Burn. At five stacks, blasts the target.

"Nice. A long-range beam attacker with freeze and burn." Almond raised his eyebrows. "Three beams per second is pretty good."

"Yeah. Though unlike you, I can only have ten Dreadlings at once." Lily waved her hand as the Dreadling vanished. "Yep, I can store them inside the Legion space within my consciousness."

Almond snapped his fingers, and his Grimblades also vanished. "Yeah, I have something similar."

Lily smiled. "It’s interesting how our first cards are paradoxically opposite. You can have unlimited Grimblades, but they can be destroyed once to evolve, and then destroyed forever. Meanwhile, I can only have ten Dreadlings at once, but I can revive them without limit."

"Haha, that’s cool." Almond laughed. "I have infinite beginning and finite end. You have finite beginning and infinite end."

"Well then, we should build our power so we can have infinite beginning and infinite end." Lily grinned. "Let’s search this atoll to get resources."

"Speaking of atolls, how is being in the middle of the sea considered a novice area?" Almond wryly smiled as he looked at the ocean.

Lily laughed. "True."

Rustle.

Rustle.

"Ghnnnnn!!"

Almond and Lily looked back at the Gentlebuck Reefspawn and saw it surrounded by six wolf-like monsters.

[Aquafang Blood Wolf]

Lifeform: Perishable | Tier-1

Threat Rating: High

Nature: Bloodthirsty

Stats:

— Pulse: 500/500

— Constitution: 50

— Arihanta: 42

— Will: 28

"Let’s deal with them and save the gentle giant first." Almond summoned his Grimblades. "Using their bones might make for a good Grimblade."

"Yep." Lily summoned her jellyfish. "Feeding their parts to the Dreadgate might spawn something good."
