Re-Awakening: I Ascend with a Legendary class

Chapter 566: New Cards, Trapped?

Chapter 566: New Cards, Trapped?

Almond and Lily rested against a rock. Facing them were Saffa, Clovelle, Fraisea, Gopu, and Ainen.

"The food was heavenly..." Almond sighed in amazement.

"And we got buffs. I think we should take some action," Lily said as she looked at her deck. "To break through to Tier-2, we need two more Inspirations and to fill our deck."

"Indeed. We are also short two cards to fill our decks, so let’s do it and break through to Tier-2. Then we’ll go check the town," Ainen nodded.

"Sounds good." Fraisea stood up.

"Rawr!"

The group moved deeper into the wilderness.

They stayed together because they had seen a Tier-3 aggressive monster earlier, and there were more around. It was better to deal with trouble as a group lest they get ganged up on by strong monsters.

After killing some Tier-1 and Tier-2 monsters, the group found a fast-flowing river and followed it.

But just as they were moving, something gigantic slashed out of the water and overshadowed them.

CROAK!

Thud!

A giant frog with horns lit by blue, watery flames croaked loudly.

"Careful!"

The frog opened its mouth and instantly attacked. Its tongue was blindingly fast, striking Saffa instantly and shooting her away like a ragdoll as she crashed onto a boulder, bloodied.

"You heal her. We’ll get the frog!"

Almond waved his hand as twenty Grimblades suddenly appeared. All twenty released various kinds of slashes as they struck the frog.

One Grimblade suddenly shattered as Almond broke it into pieces using his Pulse. Those pieces shone and transformed into a new Grimblade, evolving and becoming stronger.

Almond used his second card on it.

[ Grim Severam ]

Card Quality: 4-star

Effect:

—> You can apply a desired ’Sever’ on a blade, which applies that Sever to the target. On top of that, increases the selected Grimblade’s power by 100% + 10% per Will stat. Using this card on a Grimblade will reduce its durability to zero after 24-hour.

Almond applied ’Defense Sever’ to the blade and struck the frog, since it had a tough exterior and high Constitution.

On the other hand, Lily summoned nine exotic Dreadlings, all of them unleashing their skills on the frog.

However, her strongest Dreadling, which she had evolved using a Tier-2 resource, Wolfen Dreimitch, glowed and transformed as she used her second card on it.

[ Dreadling Gear ]

Card Quality: 4-star

Effect:

—> Transform a Dreadling into equippable gear with a basic attack, two skills, and one ultimate skill.

The Wolfen Dreimitch Dreadling transformed into an exotic gun with a meter-wide crescent barrel at the front, capable of firing crescent saw projectiles as its basic attack.

But Lily used its ultimate attack. It unleashed a spinning circular saw that grew larger the more it spun, striking the frog’s massive legs and tearing all four off along with part of its belly.

With Almond stripping away its defense, Lily’s attack dealt devastating damage to the Tier-3 being. Moreover, Wolfen Dreimitch was 3-star, equivalent to a peak Tier-3 monster in terms of stats, as she had fed it multiple resources and evolved it.

Under their combined assault, the frog was instantly overwhelmed and ensnared despite the difference in raw stats.

Clovelle angrily used a card as a giant icy hammer, twice the size of the frog, manifested and slammed down on it.

The dragon Gopu grew larger, his eyes reflecting a card as a raging sun of flames appeared above his head, releasing a terrifying beam that burned the frog.

Fraisea used a card and conjured a bow, unleashing an arrow that exploded in the frog’s eyes before expanding into a cone-shaped icy spike that drove into its head.

With all those attacks combined, the Tier-3 Jobalt Shell Frog died.

Meanwhile, Saffa opened her eyes after Ainen gave her a healing soup.

Her broken ribs, shattered bones, torn skin, and damaged organs visibly mended at a rapid pace.

"Nasty bastard," Ainen snorted as he looked at the frog. "That was a nice surprise attack."

"If you don’t want to cook it, we’ll use it." Almond smiled. "I can make a Grimblade, and Lily can make a Dreadling."

"Sure. Take it. I ain’t gonna cook this bastard."

"Roar!"

The group continued moving.

After five hours, they ate again purely for the taste, then sparred with one another, getting familiar with their cards and seeking Inspiration.

In the end, through cycles of sparring and meditation, they eventually gained Inspiration over the next few hours, acquiring the third card in their decks.

"It’s unfortunate that we didn’t find any Tier-2 or higher resources," Almond smiled wryly. "I think people in the town must have scoured these nearby areas clean."

"Yeah. If we want resources, we’ll need to go deeper, but that would be unwise," Ainen said with a nod.

"Let’s just roam, fight, and brainstorm without going too deep. We only need one more card to break through," Lily said.

"Sounds good." Fraisea nodded. "I can’t wait to go to the town, but we need Tier-2 for safety."

Ainen checked his deck. "How is everyone’s deck experience progressing?"

[ Limitless Matrix Chef ]

Rank: Tier-1 (99%)

Card Draw: 10 Pulse per star of the card

Card Pile: [3/4 — 0 Inspiration — 0 Insight]

Instant Preparation (2-star) Chef’s Blessing (4-star) Matrix Scan (2-star)

"I’m at 95%," Almond checked his deck.

"I’m at 92%," Lily smiled.

Everyone else was between 80% and 90%.

"I’m just 1% away from ranking up my deck. I wonder if we’ll get any additional reward aside from the card pile capacity increase."

"Darling, just finish that 1% quickly by cooking a small feast, and we’ll find out," Clovelle grinned.

"Yep, good idea. Everyone sit tight and wait."

Almond and Lily exchanged looks and grinned.

They could not say no to this food.

On top of buffs, it was the tastiest flood of sensations they had ever experienced. Pure bliss for both soul and body.

But just as Ainen began cooking, Almond and Lily stood up.

The dragon and the fox girls followed immediately.

"Are we surrounded?" Ainen blinked.

They were in a forest clearing with trees all around. It was night, the sun long set, but the group had illuminated the area well.

Then the air flickered, as if a veil had lifted, and everything became visible.

They were surrounded by twenty-six figures. All of them Tier-2 or Tier-3.

They were not humans.

They were vampires with bat wings. Some had human ears, others elven.

"The dwarves were right, haha. Hello there," one of them said. "I would advise against resisting, because we really don’t want to kill you. Otherwise, your value will drop to becoming food for certain people."

"Eaten and shat."
