Chapter 569: Breaking Through, Information of Layer 2
Chapter 569: Breaking Through, Information of Layer 2
Almond, Lily, Ainen, Saffa, Clovelle, Fraisea, and Gopu entered the town for the first time.
"We’ll finally break through to Tier-2." Lily smiled.
Almond nodded.
The dwarves had told them they would break through to Tier-2 once they completed their first deck, but they had already done so, and nothing happened.
So they knew they lacked something. But instead of entering the town right away, they had decided to roam around the wilderness, train, and evolve all the cards of their decks before going into the town.
Just the day before, they were going to the town, and they got a message from the town chief.
Soon, they entered the Town Chief’s mansion as the guards readily let them go before they even said anything.
"Please welcome!"
The person whose avatar they had seen in the message last night abruptly appeared before them.
The group was surprised.
They had only seen his upper-half body in the holographic message, but he had a lower-half body of a snake.
"Haha, we’ve been eagerly waiting." Tofen smiled.
"Yep. It’s obvious from your face." Saffa chuckled.
Tofen grinned. "Please follow me. I’ll lead you to the town chief. Don’t worry. We won’t waste useless words. The first thing you’ll do is break through, which I assume you want to do the most."
"Correct." Lily nodded.
The group followed Tofen inside and arrived on the terrace of the mansion, which was a garden.
The town chief sat on a mattress there, sipping tea.
Seeing Almond and the others, his eyes lit up.
"Hahaha, welcome, welcome! Please sit."
Ainen raised his right eyebrow. "That face... he’s planning to eat us."
Gopu growled.
Town Chief Rombe laughed out loud. "I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to do that even if I wanted to."
The group sat down on the mattresses across from him while Tofen sat next to Rombe.
"Alright, I shall not withhold this any further." Rombe grinned. "You have met one of the two requirements already by completing your first deck. The second requirement is simple. Kill yourself."
"..."
"Yes. I am not joking." Rombe added. "Tier-1 rank is called Perishable Lifeform precisely because of this requirement. Because you are in this higher-dimensional world with your old body."
"To become Tier-2 rank, which is called Adapt, you must die only after completing your deck. This will trigger the pulse of this world to spark you anew, unchaining you from the previous bindings and making you adapt to this world. Hence, Tier-2 is called Adapt."
"You can do this one by one, so you can be on the lookout for each other."
"It’s fine. With Lily’s pets here, it’s impossible to hurt us." Clovelle giggled.
Lily snapped her finger. Instantly, ten overpowering auras manifested around the group.
Tofen and Rombe felt the aura and couldn’t help but sweat.
"And if that’s not enough, nothing survives Almond’s blades." Ainen chuckled.
Almond smiled, his eyes flickering.
Instantly, the rays from the sun became extremely thin.
Rombe and Tofen looked up, and almost pissed themselves.
The sky was filled with blades in a storm-like manner.
Hundreds of blades!
The people of the town were also shocked and wondered what was going on at the chief’s mansion.
And there were many Tier-5 auras among those blades!
’Told ya, boss! These people are insane! I think it wouldn’t even take ten seconds if they want to completely ravage this town.’
Rombe nodded, his eyes practically shining.
"Our cards’ effects won’t disappear if we die briefly, right?" Almond asked.
"It won’t." The Town Chief shook his head and grinned. "Rest assured. I won’t let anything happen to you all. I need all of you to keep living and get stronger. The stronger you all are, the stronger I am."
"Alright, let’s start," Fraisea said and closed her eyes. In the next moment, her heart stopped, and she fell to the side.
Gopu put on an unwilling expression, but still dropped dead after a second.
Soon, everyone was dead.
And then, they began waking one by one after choosing their decks.
[Please choose the next True Concept you want to utilize to manifest your second deck.]
Almond had already decided. His eyes couldn’t help but glint in reminiscence. ’It’s time to return home, folks, in a new form and new life.’
He chose the True Concept—Oblivion Ark.
The True Concept that was the basis of his Spirit Lords’ creation.
Although he couldn’t manifest them again back in the Grimverse, this world was different!
And he had stored all of their True Spirits within him, so they would have the same memories and personalities, just different forms, which he didn’t know how would develop as it depended on his card usage and card evolution.

Next to him, Lily also opened her eyes as she checked her new deck.

’Interesting. This card reeks of fun and chaos.’ Lily’s eyes glinted.
"Now then, since you all have managed to break through, I shall give you some more information before sending you away to one of the Layer Two dimensions." Rombe grinned and waved his hand.
A magical hologram showing a stack of disks appeared.
The bottom one was glowing.
"This is Layer 1. There are myriad dimensions here. Layer 1’s ceiling is Tier-5. In short, once you reach Tier-5, you must go to Layer 2, or you won’t be able to manifest your third deck."
"Wait, so the third deck won’t manifest after we reach Tier-3?" Ainen asked.
"Nope." Rombe shook his head. "The third deck will manifest once you break through to Tier-6. Anyway, the requirement to enter Layer 2 is merely breaking through to Tier-2, so you all are ready to go there."
Tofen chuckled and added, "Indeed. Strong people like you have no business here anymore. The above layers are way more fun. And, well... dangerous. That’s why we are living in peace here, haha."
"Now let me continue." Rombe cleared his throat. "Layer 2’s ceiling is Tier-10, but to enter Layer 3, you only need to reach Tier-6. And once you enter Layer 3, you can return to the other side at your leisure and come back here. The process only requires unbroken focus for 60 seconds."
Almond and the others nodded.
John said they would be able to return once they reached a certain level, and that level was reaching Layer 3.
"Well, I have no place to return to." Ainen laughed. "This other side is our new home."
"That’s fine as well. It’s the same for us." Rombe grinned. "Now, let me tell you how to enter Layer 2, and what you can expect there."
"Layer 2 is completely different from this. It’s a layer of entertainment. No matter who it is and what Tier they are, once they enter Layer 2 for the first time, they’ll be inside a game. You can choose the game you wish to enter, and it’s better to enter separate games."
Rombe’s expression turned somber. "And every single being inside Layer 2 will have something called Anchor Points. Everything costs Anchor Points there. And the only way to earn Anchor Points is by playing games."
"And if your Anchor Points hit zero... You will cease to exist completely."
