Chapter 674: Star Mayhem Mountain, Brewing A Dangerous Plan

Chapter 674: Star Mayhem Mountain, Brewing A Dangerous Plan

The main villain of this warfare event had made a move.

The announcement rang through the perception of every member of every participating force across the entire ocean at once, a presence that bypassed sensors and walls and depth and arrived directly in the awareness of every soul bound to the event.

[On the mainland, within the dominion of the Doom Monarch, a Star Mayhem Mountain has reached the point of ripening. The Mountain is a convergence of cosmic resource and raw chaotic potential, and its ripening releases an abundance of materials and a reward of significant value to whoever claims its defense.]

[The Doom Monarch’s army marches to seize the Star Mayhem Mountain. Should the Doom Monarch claim it, his strength and the strength of his Dread Doom Army and Doom Monster Army will increase to a degree that the four remaining island alliances cannot withstand. He will launch an offensive that eliminates all remaining forces, and the Warfare Event will end in total failure for every participating kingdom.]

[Objective: Prevent the Doom Monarch’s forces from seizing the Star Mayhem Mountain. Repel the Doom Army and hold the Mountain.]

[Contribution from all participating forces will be measured. The alliance that contributes the most to the defense and repulsion of the Doom Army will be awarded a Virion Iridant Tree Embryo, a Tier-70 resource. Unlike the assets recovered from the ocean depths, the Virion Iridant Tree Embryo may be carried beyond the boundary of this Warfare Event upon its conclusion.]

The notice faded.

For a moment, no one in the test chamber spoke.

Then Aryan exhaled slowly. "A resource we can keep. Outside the event. That changes things."

"It changes everything," Rudra said. "Everything we have recovered in this event stays in this event. Geneline artifacts, depth resources, the blueprint, all of it stays bound to this world when we leave. A Tier-70 resource we can carry out is the first thing in this entire event worth taking home."

Natalia was already pulling up the projection. The map of the warfare event world expanded across the chamber, and for the first time since the alliance had arrived, it showed not the islands but the mainland, the vast continental mass to the far north where the Doom Monarch held dominion. A single point on the mainland pulsed with a deep, layered light that the projection rendered in shifting bands of color it had no proper name for.

The Star Mayhem Mountain.

Around it, the projection showed movement. A tide of darkness was already flowing toward the Mountain from the heart of the Doom Monarch’s territory, vast beyond easy counting, a march of Doom Army and Doom Monster Army units that stretched across the rendered landscape like a stain spreading through cloth.

"He moved fast," Marcus said.

"He moved the instant it ripened," Rudra replied. "So do we."

Almond studied the projection in silence for a long moment. The Mountain. The march. The reward. The contribution measure.

"This is the first event objective that puts all four remaining alliances on the same field at the same time," he said slowly. "Not against each other. Against the Doom Monarch. But the contribution measure means we are still competing. Whoever fights hardest gets the prize, and everyone will be watching everyone else."

Lily smiled faintly. "So we fight the Doom Army in front of three rivals who would each love an excuse to learn what we have actually been building."

"Yes."

"And we have just finished building weapons that we have spent two months hiding, that none of them have ever seen, that would tell them exactly how strong we have become the moment we used them in the open."

"Yes."

The leadership looked at one another.

The choice was clear in the way the worst choices always were. Win the prize, the only prize in this entire event worth carrying home so far, and reveal the Discord Bloom weapons to every rival on the ocean in the process. Or hold the secret, fight conservatively, and watch a Tier-70 resource go to Thalmyr-Ronethis or Virexion-Kezryx.

Rudra crossed his arms. "We do not have to decide everything now. We have time to plan how much of ourselves we are willing to show."

"And how much we keep hidden," Almond agreed.

Vorth Kessaline, standing at the edge of the chamber beside the Discord Bloom weapons her dead kingdom’s research had made possible, spoke for the first time since the announcement.

"If you want my opinion," she said, "and you are free not to, I would point out one thing. The Doom Monarch is not a rival. He is the actual enemy of this entire world. If he takes that Mountain, every one of you is finished, secrets or not. There is a point past which hiding your strength stops being clever and starts being suicidal."

Lily nodded. "And there is a chance that this event was triggered because of the Tier-100 blueprint development. If the event is flexible, then this is a test."

"That’s highly possible." Almond narrowed his eyes. "But we will not show the weapons just yet. I have an idea."

"If we succeed, we can sweep this event in one go. It will be risky, but it’d be worth it." Almond looked at everyone before looking at Vorth. "I need top-tier projectile-shooting weapons of this Discord Bloom System, you are free to modify them for monster hunting."

Rudra’s eyes glinted. "That’s a brilliant plan."

"Oh, darling. That’s an exciting plan." Lily grinned.

"Don’t tell me..." Natalia’s eyes narrowed. "Shit, if we succeed-"

"Then we’ll end this event well before its deadline." Marcus laughed. "Let’s do it."

By now, everyone understood Almond’s crazy, ambitious plan.

"We will have to execute it flawlessly." Ainen’s eyes glinted. "Because if the others find out about it, we will no doubt face a full and final outburst of the other four forces because we’d be basically cornering them towards guaranteed elimination."

"We will have to move as fast as possible. Speed up the specialized weapon production of twenty weapons, and get ready to dive with us." Almond looked at Vorth and the team. "You will also come with us, but your job will be to harness and provide energy."

"Godspeed." Rudra nodded and vanished.

Everyone started working.
