Chapter 1026: First Impressions Matter
“Well, he’s definitely living frugally, isn’t he?” Eve pointed out. “I would assume he’s on some kind of drug, but I doubt it. Perhaps he’s just really, really, really bored. Don’t you think?”
Rael stared at her for a moment, then shrugged. “He’s your husband, not mine. Figure it out.”
With that, Rael turned around, glancing over at Lilith, who wasn’t as interested in the whole ordeal, as she was more interested in the reunion instead.
After all, it had been so long since her parents had last seen each other. For all she knew, they might just hate each other.
However, that wasn’t the case at all, since the moment they stepped foot on this planet and made their presence known, William had already figured out they were here.
But he couldn’t recognize Eve’s presence. Sure, he had felt it before, and while it did give him a sense of déjà vu, the amount of power she had now, coupled with her body enhanced beyond belief, made her a whole different entity altogether.
So of course, William didn’t think much of it at first. In fact, the first thing he seemingly did was contact Lilith. Rael intercepted that connection and heard what he was saying.
[It hasn’t even been a full day since I disappeared, and you already came looking for me? Lilith, you’re quite a foolish child, aren’t you? Why bring such a big group too?] he asked.
And Lilith soon replied:
[A big group? You don’t remember her, huh. Well, well, well. I guess it’s to be expected. It had been a few hundred years since you last seen each other. Or rather, a few million years if you count the time we spent in that frozen space.]
Hearing that, William paused for a moment. He couldn’t understand what she was getting at, or rather, he felt like she was just messing around with him for leaving like he did. That seemed the most likely, and so, before she could talk any more nonsense, he hit her with the obvious.

Rael couldn’t really believe it. Was he ignorant, stupid, or blind? One look behind him would tell him all that he needed to know. But evidently, he was just that ignorant.
Regardless, he went ahead and continued doing whatever he was doing, until eventually, Eve had enough.
“This oaf. You dare to turn your back to me and ignore me? Do you think just because you ran away from that shit show that is the Demon Realm, all is excused? Turn around now, and I might just spare your life,” Eve said menacingly.
Yet her familiar voice, coupled with the mana that she had begun to exude, made William recognize her in a heartbeat.
He abruptly turned around, startling all the nearby workers.
Then, he stared right at Eve. For a moment, he thought that his eyes were deceiving him, but no… They weren’t. She really was here, and more importantly, she seemed to still hold him somewhat dear in her heart, since he was sure that if she hated him, he’d have a sword piercing straight through his chest right about now.
Therefore, he decided to take it slow.
“You’re still as feisty as I remember. It’s just that you have a lot more strength to back it up now.”
“Yeah, I can’t say I liked it when you kept calling me a pushover. It did piss me off ever so slightly,” Eve replied. “Also, I can probably beat your ass in a fight now. So do you want to spar?”
He shook his head. “Not at all. I’m done fighting. Also, ladies should act eloquently, not crassly. Plus, with that stance, you look like you’re about to beat someone up.”

“Well, because I am.”
Then, before he could react, Eve dashed at a ridiculous speed, her hand tearing straight through his chest, grabbing his heart and yanking it out. Though, despite it seeming deadly, it was anything but.
If anything, it did sting a little, so he had to give credit where credit was due.
Despite that, he took his heart back from her, and after putting it back where it belonged, he let out an annoyed sigh.
“You’re far too impatient, Eve. Now, sleep.”
Before she could even fully process his words, he went ahead and snapped her neck. Not to kill her, of course, but to gently knock her out.
And so, it worked like a charm as she fell backward with no idea of what had actually happened to her.
Rael and Lilith, on the other hand, weren’t as amused. Both of them had expected some kind of nice couple reunion, but… Well, that happened.
“Do you think it’s a good sign or a bad sign that they fought?” Rael asked.
Lilith shrugged. “It’s a terrible sign, if I had to guess. I just don’t know what I could’ve done differently for them to have a slightly nicer reunion.”
“Well, maybe this is a nice one for them. Who knows. Ah, right. I forgot to mention, but I also met my parents.”
She turned to him with a slightly confused look. “You did? Did you bring them back?”
Rael shook his head. “Nope. I knew that bringing them back would’ve done nothing. They might’ve lingered around a little, but that’s about it. I didn’t want them to see my children and criticize every breath they took, you know?”
She surprisingly gave him a few pats, and afterwards just stared at her father in silence as he went ahead and inspected Eve, who had face-planted directly into shit.
…It was an interesting reunion, to say the least.
