Chapter 1031: Lies And Deceit
Chapter 1031: Lies And Deceit
Rael gave him a thumbs up.
“You can trust me. I’m someone who’s known for his trustworthiness throughout the entire universe.”
He thought that this would work, since it usually did, but Uriel wasn’t like the others.
“I’ve been watching you for ages. I know what kind of person you are. You’re perhaps the least trustworthy person in the universe.”
Rael scratched the back of his head. “I mean, when you put it that way, you make it sound like it’s impossible to trust me.”
Skipping all the shenanigans, Uriel decided to just accept his fate, since he knew for a fact that Rael was going to be too lazy to torture him and would just kill him outright.
Therefore…
“I guess the Era before the Akashic Records could be considered the true beginning of the universe. I’ve tried to turn back time to that Era, but it kept pushing me back, as if some kind of invisible barrier was in place.”
Rael raised a brow and sat down a bit more comfortably in his chair. This sounded interesting.
“So you’re saying that someone’s protecting that timeline?” Rael asked. “Or rather, the Era? That does sound like something someone who has something to hide would do.”
Uriel shook his head. “No, I just believe that Era is still currently ongoing.”
Hmm?
What did he mean by that?
“You see, I believe there are Realities, and there are Eras in between those Realities. It’s like… We were separated after some time, and while our time flowed as usual, the people in those Eras were stuck in a loop.”
Hearing that, Rael was immediately reminded of something. And as it so happened, Gaia had suddenly popped up inside his head and said:
[I did something like that too at the top of Yggdrasil. It was on a much smaller scale, only universal. But still, for there to be something on a multiversal scale, locking a whole Era behind it seemed possible, but very, very hard to believe.]
Rael nodded. It seems like it.
“But unlike normal loops, it seems like every now and again, some people slip through and become messiahs,” Uriel added, and then paused for a couple of seconds, his gaze set on Rael.
“During your first ever appearance, that Era fluctuated slightly. And by your first ever appearance, I’m talking about the first ever time your mana entered this universe. It’s… It’s been a long time since then. A very, very long time.”
Rael picked up on the clues immediately and let out an annoyed sigh.
“So you’re saying I’m one of the people who escaped from that Era?”
Uriel chuckled. “You, me, and all the people in the Akashic Records, and before. We’re all from that Era. I’m not really sure what it is, but we’re overloaded with so much potential it’s unbelievable. All of us can achieve such great things because we all share the same source of power, almost like some kind of hivemind.”
Rael narrowed his eyes at him. “Then what about the Rulers of Reality? I assume you watched when I did what I did.”
“It’s a group of people that are chosen and powerful. I don’t quite understand their existence, but it’s not like it matters anymore, does it? You killed all of them,” Uriel replied.
Then, before Rael could stray off topic once more, he continued:
“I really am curious about what’s behind that veil on the other side. Is it some kind of breeding ground for beings like us? Are we just normal humans, but the fracture in time and space gave us such powers? Why does everything happen as it does, and when’s the next being going to pop out from that Era?”
He had a lot of questions and so few answers. Rael was the same in that regard, but he had never even considered such a possibility, since he hadn’t felt the presence of such a thing even once.
So how does one even access it?
Wait…
“The Dream Realm… Did you lead me to that place on purpose?”
Hearing that, Uriel paused for a moment, then sighed.
“What do you think?”
He leaned back even further in his chair.
“I might be dead, but I accomplished everything I wanted. You’ve broken the seal that bound the Era in its infinite loop, so now it’s only a matter of time before the first beings pop into this reality and start wreaking havoc… Or not? Hehe. Who knows what their intentions are, am I right?”
It was a trap from the very start. Rael did know that it was, but to such an extent… He could never have imagined it.
At most, maybe it was an attempt to mess him up and cause a universal collapse. But no… It was a deliberate plan for Rael to get powerful enough to then go ahead and remove the shackles of that Era he supposedly came from.
It was a good plan, Rael could admit that much. Alas, it was his own fault for never meddling with the Dream Realm. Uriel had, so he knew about it.
Welp.
What’s done is done. I need to be careful now and prepare for whatever’s to come.
With that, Rael decided he had heard enough from Uriel, since for all he knew, he was just stalling while also knowing the outcome of what was to happen next.
Therefore, Rael went ahead and stepped up, placed his hand on Uriel’s forehead, and without an ounce of hesitation, he completely erased his form, watching as bits and pieces of his mana floated in the air, then vanished.
With that, Uriel had been killed, and Rael doubted that whatever plan Uriel had set up to watch what happened next would still be in effect.
Letting out a sigh, Rael dusted himself off and manifested himself back in the normal universe. For now, nothing seemed off, but for all he knew, in the next few seconds or so, everything might just change.
