The sounds of water hitting the diamond shower resounded as Rael stared at the veil hiding Gaia’s figure.

“You are.” He gave her waist a small squeeze. “I told you, I’m not going to do anything. Relax.”

“I am relaxed.”

Hearing the instant reply, Rael couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“You’re definitely not relaxed.”

She exhaled slowly through her nose. He wasn’t wrong, and they both knew it, which made it considerably more irritating to deal with. She shifted slightly, trying to find a more comfortable position, which only resulted in her pressing further against him.

Behind her, she could feel the faint vibration of him trying not to laugh.

“If you continue to laugh, then I’ll push you off this bed,” she said flatly.

Gaia let out a sigh. “That phrase doesn’t make any sense.”

Rael hummed, completely unbothered. She felt that too — the low vibration of air against her back. It was an annoyingly pleasant sensation.

A few moments passed in silence, and the two of them grew slightly more accustomed to each other’s warmth.

“…Your hand is warm,” she said, hiding her expression.

Rael raised a brow. “Yeah?”

“It’s strange.”

He let out a chuckle again. Just this time, it was a bit more quiet. She appreciated that he was at least making the effort. Not that she would tell him that.

The silence that once again followed was different from the ones before it. She noticed, distantly, that her shoulders had dropped at some point without her realizing. The tension hadn’t disappeared entirely, but it had… It made her feel warm. It wasn’t warmth made out of lust, but more like comfort.

She wasn’t sure when that had happened, or why her body reacted this way.

“Rael?”

“Are you always like this?”

He paused for a moment. “Like what?”

She considered how to phrase it. “So comfortable with people. I… I don’t really know how to explain it.”

Rael stared at her for a moment, and then leaned in, placing a kiss on her forehead.

“I’m only comfortable with those I have fallen for, Gaia.”
