Chapter 665 665: End of the Match

Chapter 665 665: End of the Match

<Lilith Sutekh: I... I have no idea how to reply to this, Rael. I'm not sure how I feel about it.>

"..."

Well shit.

Rael knew that it was fucked up.

And he knew that asking it was even more fucked up.

But he did so either way.

Yet the response was something he half expected, though he also hoped it would have gone a bit more smoothly.

Either way, he went back and forth with Lilith, trying to see just what her actual intentions with her siblings were, and in the end, before he could get a solid answer, the match ended.

Johan's voice soon thundered through the skies.

"Congratulations to the five of you that managed to make it through. The next match will be tomorrow, so once again, you have a day free all to yourselves. Those who wish to forfeit may do so now."

He waited a little while, but no complaints or forfeits came.

So with that in mind, Johan continued:

"So far, the tournament has been extremely fair, but... I've noticed a Grade 3 has managed to take down a Grade 9. This has never happened in history. No matter demon, human, or whatever this Grade 3 is, I believe there should be some fair grounds set."

Rael stared at the sky, confused.

Fairness?

How could they make this any more fair?

After all, it wasn't like he was overwhelmingly stronger than all of these people.

He had just barely managed to beat a newly ascended Grade 9.

Any more and he'd be fucked either way.

But still...

"For the next match, I will limit every single one of you to using only a single Law. The Law of Hellfire. You may object, and you may be angry at me for this limit. However, do note that with someone being capable of using tens of Laws at once, the spectators can't tell what's happening."

"And in the end, this is supposed to be a performance, not a competition. Clarity is what's important, and clarity is what I seek from you all. Good day to the contestants, and I truly wish you are prepared for tomorrow."

With those words, Johan finally fell quiet.

The moment he did, Rael and the others were teleported, appearing in that very same field as earlier.

There were only five contestants left.

Way less than before.

But also, Johan, who was still nearby, seemed to stare at Rael a little bit longer.

Then, his gaze went over to Reili.

A trace of regret appeared in his eyes.

But just as quickly, that gaze vanished as he slowly walked away.

Rael observed everything and then let out a sigh.

It was clear why he was feeling like this.

After all, Rael not only committed a taboo, he also turned Johan's son into his puppet.

It was a father's worst nightmare, but then again, these beings were ancient.

He really didn't think they thought the same, or had the same values as humans.

But even so, Rael didn't ignore that and simply turned to Reili, then gestured for him to do whatever he wanted.

And the first thing he did was disappear from the field.

Rael couldn't really tell where he had gone, but if he had to guess, Reili was going to try breaking out of his control.

It was impossible.

After all, the moment the Plasma Core entered his body, he had turned into Rael's construct.

Regardless, Rael soon turned over to Lilith, and after staring at each other for a few moments, Lilith took the initiative and stepped forward, grabbed his hand, and dragged him away from the others.

They eventually kicked off the ground and flew out of the capital.

The journey was silent.

Eerily silent.

But when they were halfway back home, Lilith finally spoke.

"Rael... I'm not mad at you for what you did."

"You sound a little mad."

"I'm not mad. I can promise you that much. It's just... it feels a little strange to me that he's now suddenly loyal to you. He tried to kill you not even that long ago."

That was true.

Even so, Rael assured her once again that he was loyal not only to him but also to her.

And of course, he also reiterated that if she so much as wished for it, he wouldn't hesitate to simply kill Reili.

But since she didn't say anything of the sort, Rael didn't do it and instead simply stuck by her side as they finally arrived back home.

"Dinner?" Rael offered.

Lilith shook her head.

"I want to cook something this time."

Oho?

"Sure. I can't wait to try whatever you'll make."

He felt the awkwardness slowly starting to fade.

The two went into the castle's kitchen.

Then, Lilith picked up a few tools and began cutting up onions, tomatoes, and everything else she could find.

Sure, it looked like she knew how to handle the knife well.

But what exactly could she make with so many random fruits, vegetables, and other stuff mixed together?

Maybe she was making some kind of potion?

However, when all the ingredients were finally cut up and on the counter, Lilith suddenly waved her hand over them.

In an instant, the ingredients merged together.

It really was instant.

And now, there was a massive multicolored tomato on the counter.

It was larger than the other tomatoes and definitely much more unique looking.

It wasn't an item either, so he couldn't inspect it.

However, it did look oddly appetizing.

But before he could succumb to his greed and take a bite out of that tomato, Lilith suddenly took out some spaghetti and began boiling it.

She used that strange tomato for her sauce.

Of course, Rael eagerly waited for it.

A few minutes passed, and after nearly half an hour, the dish was finally finished and plated.

They had equal portions.

Lilith smiled at him.

"This is something I came up with after playing around with the Law of Chaos. It should be good, so dig in."
