Chapter 670: Learning It
Chapter 670: Learning It
"Hmm..."
Rael paced around the Prophetic Realm, rewatching the same scene over and over again.
There was no clear indication of how Johan activated this technique.
It just kind of happened.
And that was what confused Rael a little, since in that case, just how exactly was he supposed to figure this out?
Regardless of that, he continued on and on, looking for clues, until eventually, another figure appeared inside his Prophetic Realm.
It was Gaia.
"Do you want a hint?" she asked.
Rael glanced back at her, unsure of how to respond.
On one hand, he wanted a hint, and on the other... he kind of felt like that would be cheating.
If Gaia was a spectator all her life, she definitely knew the answer.
"..."
"Maybe later," Rael replied with a slight smile. "I’ll try to get it by myself first, but if I see it’s a little too much for me, I’ll call you."
Gaia stared at him for a moment, then nodded.
But instead of heading back inside the Mind Realm, she simply sat down on the ground and summoned a few flowers all around her.
And as she began playing around with the flowers, Rael just chuckled and returned to analyzing the technique.
A week flew by in an instant.
Only now did Rael begin to see how the technique worked.
It was like...
Johan completely erased his presence in an instant, but before that, his expression turned slightly hollow.
Was it some kind of technique that focused on emotions?
Another week flew by.
Rael was on the right track.
Emotions were the backbone of this technique.
But so was mana control.
If he completely isolated his mana inside his heart, and didn’t let it escape in the slightest, then he could slightly replicate Johan’s technique.
Albeit... from what Gaia told him, he wasn’t really vanishing like Johan.
That meant he needed to become even more emotionless.
The moment Rael reached the one-month mark inside his Prophetic Realm, he finally got the hang of the technique.
All he needed to do was lock away his emotions and mana.
Mana, by simply isolating it.
And emotions... he thought it would be more difficult, but it felt more like a toggle.
It took only a single thought for him to disable his emotions, and that was most likely because of his proficiency with Mind-based stuff.
Still... since he didn’t like that feeling too much, Rael simply showcased the technique to Gaia, and after getting her approval, he was ready.
"Hold on a minute," Gaia suddenly said.
Rael tilted his head. "What’s up?"
"I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but that William person acts oddly similar to you," she pointed out.
He did notice that.
But...
"So what?"
Gaia’s brows twitched.
"So you should pay more attention to him, because if my suspicion is correct, I am fairly sure he’s someone who’s capable of controlling shadows."
Well... he was called The Demon of Shadows for a reason.
Though as that thought crossed his mind, Rael suddenly halted.
"You realize it too now, don’t you?" Gaia sighed and finally stood up.
She approached him, stopping just a few feet away.
"When you got rid of your shadow, it didn’t just get deleted. It vanished and reappeared elsewhere. My best bet is... it happened to appear right on William’s doorstep."
Rael had realized this too.
That would most definitely explain how he was able to mimic Rael’s fighting style.
That’s also very likely why he managed to get this far in the first place.
It was because he leeched off Rael’s shadow and learned some of his abilities.
But just to what extent did he learn his abilities?
Clearly... the fighting style was the same.
Could he have learned some perks too?
"I don’t think you need to worry too much," Gaia said. "The shadow you gave him is your weakest form in a way. He couldn’t have learned much, because, well... you were way too weak to give him anything valuable."
"Premium Override doesn’t seem too invaluable. If he steals one of my main skills, I won’t be too happy, you know?" Rael grumbled, and then turned around.
"Anyways, I’ll deal with him later."
With those words, Rael finally left the Prophetic Realm.
In an instant, he reappeared in the arena.
Yet just as everyone began to sit down and start learning the technique, Rael suddenly took a step forward.
Their eyes widened, and before they knew it, Rael was already gone.
They glanced around in earnest, and yet, none of them could find him.
On the other hand, Rael was right behind one of Lilith’s siblings.
He was very tempted to just rip this guy’s spine out and kill him.
But when he realized that Johan had been tracking him this entire time, Rael held back.
Killing his son right in front of him might not be the smartest decision Rael could make at the moment.
And then again, so long as they lived, Rael had other opportunities to kill them.
So Rael simply walked over to Johan whilst performing that technique, and when he was right in front of him, Rael finally released it.
All of the remaining contestants glanced toward him in an instant.
But by then...
"I see..."
"I guess I should have expected something like that from you," Johan said, narrowing his eyes. "I am not sure how much time passed in whichever realm you were practicing, but in the grand scheme of things, you seemed to have learned that technique in less than a second."
Hearing that, the crowd burst into cheers.
Or was it disdain?
Either way, they were both booing and cheering him on, and while Rael didn’t care that much about the crowd, he was kind of curious about what happens next.
However, he felt like he should have prepared a bit more inside his Prophetic Realm and perhaps checked the future out a little.
Because he most definitely didn’t expect Johan’s next words.
"Rael, would you like to have a spar?"
