Chapter 677: Testing
Chapter 677: Testing
Rael glanced through his interfaces, one after the other.
He wasn’t sure if he could do anything directly in those interfaces.
After all, everything had a limit.
But...
What if he just straight up used his Laws on his constructs?
He had many Laws that broke Fate, Causality, and Destiny.
Rael was a little surprised all of those were separate, but either way, he kind of wanted to give it a shot.
"Do any of you want free will?"
Uhh...
"That sounded wrong... My bad."
Letting out a sigh, he quickly rephrased.
"I want to try giving you guys complete control over your own identities. By that, I mean I don’t want you having that urge in the back of your minds to obey me, if that makes sense."
He then glanced over at every single one of the constructs before him.
"I’m not forcing anyone, since this is just a test. But if you are down to try it out, step up."
At first, no one dared to step up.
Not because they were afraid.
But because they just didn’t want to be the first ones to go.
None of them.
Yeah...
Definitely not because they were afraid.
Since that was the case, though, Rael decided to just try it out on some fresh constructs.
But the moment he was about to summon one, out of everyone present, Xavier stepped up.
He was the only one Rael didn’t expect to take such a risk.
"Are you sure?"
"Why not. I believe in you and that you won’t turn me into a vegetable. Do take care of me, since I am quite fragile."
"Right..."
Rael was not that idiotic to just go in without a plan.
So when he placed his hand on Xavier’s head, Rael immediately hopped into the Prophetic Realm and ran a simulation.
The first test was simple.
Rael decided to see what would’ve happened if he just altered Xavier’s physique with the Laws he had chosen earlier.
The result: Xavier exploded.
Unfortunately.
"..."
Gaia, as much as I want to figure this out on my own, do you have any ideas?
[Yes. Infuse the Law of Chaos into your construct,] Gaia replied immediately.
Rael paused for a moment, waiting for her to finish speaking.
But...
She wasn’t really continuing.
Infuse the Law of Chaos into the construct?
That was it?
"Gaia... Are you sure?"
She didn’t respond.
Though, since he was already in the Prophetic Realm, Rael decided to give it a go.
Scrapping all of his earlier plans, he simply focused on Xavier’s forehead and infused the Law of Chaos directly into him.
To Rael’s genuine surprise, Xavier didn’t explode this time.
In fact, it looked like nothing happened at first.
But...
[There’s no grand effect to something like this. Chaos always breaks everything that needs to be broken. Same with Mind Control or whatnot. If you ever find yourself in a bind, just envelop yourself in Chaos,] Gaia said matter-of-factly.
Rael wasn’t sure how to feel about this overly smart Gaia.
But he sure as shit wasn’t dissatisfied.
"So this is it then? I really just need to infuse Chaos into my constructs?"
Gaia suddenly appeared in front of him, and while inspecting the construct inside the Prophetic Realm, she gave him a thumbs up.
"You’re overthinking a simple matter. It’s fine, and don’t hesitate to ask me, as I will forever be open to answer."
"..."
Right.
She would be here forever, wouldn’t she?
Rael didn’t like that.
Not her company, but the concept that she was bound to him this way.
He wasn’t sure where he got the sudden urge from, but...
"Gaia, where is your main body?"
Gaia was clearly not expecting this question, as her eyes suddenly widened.
She looked directly into his eyes, and as if reading his thoughts, her eyes widened even further.
"You don’t mean to bring me back, do you? I have no intention of fighting in these silly wars, Rael."
Rael rolled his eyes and pointed at his head.
"Go back inside and snoop around."
Truth was, he had no such thoughts.
All he wanted was for her to have a body.
And so, after Gaia confirmed it, she soon clenched her fists.
This was the first time he had seen her show some actual emotion ever since she regained her memories.
"I see... In that case, you will have to travel to the core of the universe. I can’t promise a safe path, as I have perished near the Divine Realm. Though I can also promise that if you enter the place of my death, you’ll be able to pass unhindered."
She waved her hand, and in the next instant, a hologram appeared.
It showed a giant tree, and he couldn’t even see the top or bottom.
Though he had read plenty of cheesy fairytales in the past, so he had a subtle idea of what this was.
"Did you die inside of Yggdrasil?"
Gaia shrugged.
"That was the most peaceful place at the time. I succumbed to my injuries, and... well, what I told you last time is still the truth. Evelyn rescued my soul and transferred it into your body."
Rael nodded at her and gave it some thought.
An area near the Divine Realm seemed frisky.
But it was just as frisky having Gaia near the Divine Realm while the war was going on.
For all he knew, they might go into Yggdrasil and chop it down or some weird shit.
Either way, Rael felt like if he waited around, he would no longer be able to have Gaia by his side.
Which also meant he had to postpone his visit to the Dragon Realm.
Though Rael wasn’t planning a very grand visit to that place.
All he wanted to do was enter, wreck their shit, and then become the Dragon King.
Pfft...
If only...
"Anyways... Gaia, you can transmit the location into my mind, right? Can you do that while I give my constructs freedom?"
She stared at him for a moment until a soft smile appeared on her face.
"Very well, Rael. Good luck."
