Chapter 753 753: History
"Sure..."
Rael summoned two chairs for both of them, and after the two sat down, Nyx continued.
"You see, after the death of everyone he cared about, Lucien was surprisingly unaffected. Sure, he had a loving family and all, but he always had something wrong with his head. I knew that much after talking to him a few times."
Letting out a sigh, she said:
"However, when he realized that the person who had killed everyone suddenly vanished, he became desperate. He tried to look all around the universes, even turning to the Higher Gods for help. Yet nothing worked, as no matter how much he looked, the Supreme Beast was nowhere in sight."
That made sense.
If the Supreme Beast hid out in the open, just about anyone would find him.
But if it was the Void Realm, coupled with a nearly unreachable area, then it was no surprise that no one could find him.
After all, to even enter the Far Lands, one must go through the Depths first.
It was a very bothersome process, and had Rael not found it out by accident, he was sure that he would still be searching.
Anyhow...
"So he got stronger?"
"He started to, yes," Nyx replied. "By the end of the Shattering, he was Grade 7. With his arrogance pushing him forward, he thought that he could take down the Supreme Beast. Of course, once his new subordinates showed him the way, he kind of snapped out of it."
Rael let out a chuckle.
"He seemed like a genuine but stupid kid."
"That he was." Nyx smiled. "But that's about the only good thing that I can say about him. You see, ever since the Shattering happened, the Ancient Primordials began reviving one by one. His family was excluded, and yet, through some strange means, he was able to fetch the broken soul of his sister."
She met his eyes, and after a brief pause, delivered a bombshell.
"Solenne was reborn, and with no knowledge of her past life, Lucien convinced her that he was her father, not her brother. It was... something to behold. It was both scummy and wrong, but his subordinates didn't say anything, and Solenne didn't know much either."
"In the end, Solenne simply began training with Lucien's help and eventually got enough strength to be considered a threat to the universe."
She let out a sigh.
"After that, she became the menace that you know. A being who has a religion the size of several multiverses. An information network that could find just about anyone in an instant... all because Lucien didn't want a repeat of what happened before."
Nyx adjusted her legs and added:
"By before, I mean him not having any knowledge about the Supreme Beast. Had someone seen even the shadow of the Supreme Beast, he would've been happy."
Rael's eyes widened slightly.
Although he hadn't realized it at first, that would explain why Solenne was so insistent on getting into the Depths.
Even by utilizing the system that she had somehow manipulated, she was still unable to do so.
But if her goals were actually Lucien's goals...
In the grand scheme of things, it really did seem like Solenne was just the puppet of Lucien, held together by his ability to manipulate thoughts and people.
As sad as it was, and as much as Rael tried to empathize, that didn't change the fact that she had nearly ruined his life.
Solenne was an enemy in the same manner Lucien was someone he had to kill no matter what.
So with that in mind, a determined look appeared on Rael's face as he stood up.
"I think that's enough."
"You sure?" Nyx tilted her head. "I can tell you a bit more about Lucien's childhood if you want. I did some digging."
Rael shook his head.
"I doubt I'll actually get any valuable information. To me, it seems like whatever he used to do in the past is something he doesn't do now. He strikes me as smart, so any childhood habit was likely already taken care of."
If not, then he really was a fool.
Nonetheless, Rael adjusted his clothes slightly and then glanced over at Astaroth and Victoria.
The two of them were eating very peacefully, except it seemed like their dinner had turned into a fight.
After all, with Astaroth being so greedy and Victoria being so prideful, the two of them tried to one up each other even when eating.
Though right as Rael was about to approach the two, Nyx suddenly coughed, getting his attention.
"Lucien used to visit the graves of his family very frequently in the past. That's where he spent all of his time, actually. I'm sure if you were to go looking for him directly, you'd be able to find him there."
"Hmm..."
"Noted."
Of course, Rael had no intention of going to search for him now, since he was sure that if Lucien and him crossed paths, Lucien would beat the ever-living shit out of Rael.
After all, despite him being a Grade 10, the ability to...
Hold on just a second.
"Don't I fully counter him with my Cosmic Damage?"
A faint smirk appeared on Nyx's face.
"Finally. It took a while for you to clock that. Yes, you do, but if he's someone like Rei, then you need some practice."
Rael tilted his head slightly.
"Practice? You mean I need to practice how to bypass their weird immortality?"
Nyx nodded.
"Obviously. Despite you countering Rei, you weren't even able to hit her once or deal any considerable damage. You lack the fundamentals when it comes to fighting beings on such a level, so, as a being on that kind of level, I should probably guide you a little, hm?"
Rael stared at her for a moment, then let out a sigh.
"You know you could've helped me back when I was fighting Rei."
"Help you kill my friend, you mean?" Nyx replied.
A brief silence fell between them, but Nyx just shrugged it off before pointing outside of Victoria's throne room.
"Let's go outside. I shall give you a demonstration."
