Chapter 754 754: Playing Around
Chapter 754 754: Playing Around
Rael followed her out, and once the two of them were decently far away from the Fate Dragon tribe, Nyx suddenly turned to him and raised one finger.
"Try to attack me with your Laws."
"Any select Law you want, or should I just hit you with all of them?"
Her brows twitched slightly.
"You didn't even hesitate...?"
Rael just rolled his eyes at her cutesy attempt to make him feel bad.
Even so, since it didn't seem like she cared much, Rael decided to channel his Law of Infinity, and after a small marble of Laws had formed, Rael just flicked it toward Nyx.
He made sure it was slow enough for her to react and, obviously, do any minor adjustments she might want.
And yet, despite the marble containing the full force of the Law of Infinity heading toward her, she just crossed her arms and grinned.
In the next instant, the Law of Infinity hit.
But instead of piercing straight through her or even damaging her, the marble simply clashed with her mana and then bounced off.
The moment it landed on the ground, it simply dissipated as the energy that was inside the marble quickly traveled back into Rael's body.
He just stared at the sight with a puzzled look.
"What was that about?"
Nyx smiled.
"Care to take a guess? I know you have your Neural Core and you're fairly smart. If you choose to not be lazy and actually use your brain, you might be able to realize what I had done."
Hearing that, Rael just raised a brow.
She was kind of right.
He had a lot of mental boosters, so he could easily do all sorts of equations and deductions in his mind.
He chose not to, because most of the time, the answers he was seeking were already in front of him.
Though...
Why not.
Rael closed his eyes and quickly replayed the scenario that had just happened.
He sent a powerful attack at her, she dissipated it, and then once it hit the ground, the powerful Laws did not even leave a mark.
Obviously, that had something to do with mana control itself, or perhaps reversing some of the Laws that Rael had cast, thus countering them in some way.
But that would not make much sense.
Rael was not overconfident, but he knew that no amount of practice could reverse his Laws like that, because his Laws were just that unseen and powerful.
So there had to be another trick to it.
But what?
Rael looked over the whole situation from different angles, even replaying the attack in his mind, until eventually, he picked up on something interesting.
Right as the attack was about to hit Nyx, a very small amount of mana left her body and enveloped Rael's Law attack.
The mana shifted into a different realm, enveloped his Laws, and then just simply hit Nyx.
She did not suffer any damage, as the whole brunt of the attack was made in the other realm.
In the same manner, once the Laws landed on the ground and dissipated, he was sure that in whatever realm she had sent his Laws, they managed to do a bunch of damage.
And so, after a few seconds of thinking, Rael glanced over at Nyx and nodded.
"Is it some kind of Mirror Realm?"
"Oh? Yes, it is," Nyx replied, slightly surprised. "I thought it would take you a bit longer to figure out. Oh well. So what do you think? Neat, right?" Nyx said with a proud look.
"I mean, yeah, but is that really it?" Rael asked, not fully convinced. "If all it takes to avoid such a powerful attack is to just send it into the Mirror Realm, then why does not everyone do it?"
"Do you think it's that easy?" Nyx said. "If just about anyone could fight while using the realms to their advantage, then everyone would be immortal. Not everyone uses it because the price for something like this is lifespan. You use up a chunk of your lifespan every time you use it, basically."
Oh.
"So since I'm immortal, that does not apply to me?"
Nyx nodded.
"Everyone's afraid of dying quicker, except the immortals."
That was interesting.
"So as long as I can also send my attacks into the Mirror Realm, I'd be able to hit these beings?"
"Yes. It's as simple as that," Nyx replied and raised a single finger.
"Think of the Mirror Realm as a Realm that's the complete reverse of this Realm. If there's light here, there's darkness there."
Rael got the gist of it.
Though the concept of how to get into the Mirror Realm still confused him a little.
And as if noticing his confusion, Nyx smiled.
"The Law of Space is really helpful when it comes to breaking into the Mirror Realm. Once you manage to do it, everything moving forward is far simpler."
The Law of Space, huh.
In that case, Rael decided to try it out right away.
By isolating only the Law of Space, Rael controlled it in front of him, opening up a small spatial crack through which he was able to see the other side.
The other side was just another spatial crack a few meters ahead, though.
At first, Rael tried to compress it, perhaps opening up an inverse portal.
But when he realized that it did not work, he simply tried overloading the spatial crack with mana.
Yet all that did was cause the original portal that had opened a few meters ahead to fluctuate and then vanish.
However, the spatial crack in front of Rael was still there, and it still showed the other side, even though there was nothing there.
Curious, Rael stuck his hand through the spatial crack and found out that even though there was no spatial crack ahead, his hand just kind of reappeared anyway.
It would be easy enough to consider it some sort of glitch, but Rael felt like he was on the right track.
Well...
For at least a moment or two.
"What are you even doing...?"
