Chapter 756: More Practice, And Dragon Gods Approaching
"That key component being an understanding of your opponent and their usage of the Mirror Realm."
"Yeah, I got that part. If someone wants to avoid being hit in the Mirror Realm, all they gotta do is just not go into the Mirror Realm."
Basically, if someone was in the real world, an attack from the Mirror Realm wouldn’t work.
The same was true vice versa.
So fighting on this level also clearly had tiers, since if someone was more proficient in using the Mirror Realm to beat his ass, then his ass would indeed be beat.
Nonetheless, Rael decided to try out some more attack patterns.
Sending a Heavenly Slash into the Mirror Realm, then right as the attack was inside of Rei’s body, he took it out of the Mirror Realm.
But as if she predicted that he would do that, she sent his attack back into the Mirror Realm and made it pass through her body.
It was so effortless.
And really annoying.
He kind of wished he never really found out about this kind of fighting style.
But alas...
"Got any tips?" Rael asked.
Nyx raised a brow.
"Practice? What do you expect me to tell you?"
"Dunno. Aren’t there like some tricks involved here?"
She let out a sigh.
"Two fingers is better than one."
It was Rael’s turn to raise his brow.
"In this context... or?"
BONK!
Once again, she struck his head before he could react, leaving him sprawled out on the ground, nearly unconscious.
"You should act less lewd and more proactive. That, coming from the Goddess of Eternal Slumber, should tell you a lot, you know?" Nyx said with her arms crossed.
Rael rubbed his head, and while grumbling, thought about what she said just now.
Two fingers was better than one.
...She definitely made it lewd on purpose just so she could get an excuse to hit him.
Either way, he interpreted it as two attacks being better than one.
So if he were to simultaneously attack with one attack in the Mirror Realm and the other on the outside, he should be able to hit his mark.
Therefore, Rael decided to test it out right away and cast two Heavenly Slashes, both of which were overlapping one another.
He launched the two of them in unison, and since they were moving incredibly slow, Rael was able to carefully adjust which of the two Heavenly Slashes entered the Mirror Realm and which didn’t.
And so, the attack flew freely, until eventually reaching Rei.
Rael stared at her with high expectations.
But she went far above and beyond, surprising him.
She tapped the air, causing a loud reverberation to resound as it disrupted the speed of one of the Heavenly Slashes.
Coincidentally, that Heavenly Slash was inside the Mirror Realm.
And so, by disrupting it by even a fraction of a second, the same thing happened as last time.
She dodged both of the attacks perfectly and left Rael in awe.
"Your attack in the Mirror Realm is more susceptible to interruptions as opposed to the one in reality," Nyx chimed in.
The moment he turned toward her, she added:
"By that, I mean you have a lot of training to do and a lot of variations to go through. Obviously, not a lot of time... is what I would say if you couldn’t train in stopped time."
True.
True on both ends, actually.
He could take the Premium Simulation buddy inside his stopped time and practice until he got it right.
And it’s not like it would be the first time he did something in stopped time.
Though... it would definitely be his first time training and not just lazing around.
"Are you going to leave right away?" Nyx asked.
Rael stared at her for a moment, thought about it, then shook his head.
"No... I’ll probably wait for the Dragon Gods, wreck their shit, and then after becoming a Dragon God myself, I’ll do some worthwhile training for a few thousand years."
"A few thousand years? That’s pretty bold of you," Nyx said, letting out a chuckle, then pointing to the side.
"As it so happens, you spent quite a bit of time practicing. I feel a couple of powerful people approaching from the distance. They’re still an hour away, but... well, you should probably talk to Astaroth."
Rael nodded at her.
"Good catch. I’ll go down right away then."
Without saying another word, Rael flew back down to the bottom of the Dragon Realm and approached Victoria’s throne room once again.
They had finished eating and decorating, and now they were just sitting on their thrones with bored expressions.
Though the moment they spotted Rael, that all changed.
"I kind of thought you dipped on us," Astaroth said.
Rael rolled his eyes.
"Are you drunk or something? Why would I leave?"
He just shrugged at him.
On the other hand, Victoria thought otherwise.
"What will you do? Will you come with us?"
"Yeah. I want to become a Dragon God," Rael replied.
Victoria hummed.
"Then we’ll take you as our butler. Though... could you wait before doing anything drastic and improper?"
She scratched her cheek.
"You see, we kind of want to become Dragon Gods before anything tragic happens. If you do something... well, stupid, then the Dragon Realm might not even have Dragon Gods anymore."
Rael was a little hurt that she thought so little of him.
Of course, he was planning to wait a little.
Just a little, though.
"Sure. Don’t worry. When it comes to self restraint, I’m perhaps the only person you can count on."
Victoria and Astaroth, especially Astaroth, flashed looks of pity, as if they didn’t believe him at all.
But anyhow, Rael didn’t concern himself with their thoughts any longer as he bought a chair for himself and sat down.
Though when Nyx landed beside him, he bought a chair for her too.
And just like that, the four of them waited and waited... until finally, the presences of several powerful beings were only a few hundred kilometers away from this place.
