Chapter 776: Quick Spar
Chapter 776: Quick Spar
"A walk? Okay."
At Uriel’s answer, Rael simply smiled and waved ahead.
Then, Rael abruptly kicked off the ground, crossing hundreds of meters in an instant.
But since he held back so much, Uriel was literally right behind him with a wide smile on his face.
Rael let out a chuckle and continued on, until eventually, he left the Dralgur Continent, crossed the vast ocean, and arrived at one of the coastal cities on the Eastern Continent.
It was one of the largest continents on this world, filled with plenty of powerful people. It was also one of those continents that couldn’t be accessed until the players reached level 500, which was definitely a bargain considering the enemies here were at least level 1,000.
Anyhow, the coastal city was filled with visitors and delicious food, so after setting his sights on one of the rooftops, Rael landed.
A moment later, Uriel landed right beside him and nearly fell off the roof because of the speed he was moving at.
"Have you never pushed your body to the limits?" Rael asked, puzzled.
Uriel tilted his head.
"Mother never let me. She told me that if I practice like father, I’ll become a musclehead."
"..."
Fair enough.
It was definitely Vatyra alright.
Rael vowed to himself to get some payback later, but until then, he just ruffled Uriel’s hair and turned toward one of the stalls down below.
There were some boiled lobsters being sold, and so, Rael decided to buy one, jump back to the roof, and then split it in two, sharing the other half with Uriel.
Just like that, the two began eating in silence, and Rael wasn’t really sure what to say or do, considering he had pretty much missed this kid’s whole childhood.
After all, Uriel grew faster because he was an angel.
"..."
"Say, Uriel. Is there anything you want?"
He thought it over for a moment, then nodded.
"Maybe some dipping sauce?"
Rael rolled his eyes.
"No, I mean like a wish. Do you wish for anything in particular?"
"...No. I don’t think so," Uriel replied, lowering his head. "Mother said there’s a lot to explore in this universe."
"So maybe exploration, then?" Rael said. "You could wish to explore the whole universe?"
"Hmm. Maybe?"
Yeah...
Rael didn’t really know where he was going.
Still, the two of them soon finished eating, and instead of heading down, they jumped from one rooftop to another, until eventually, the two of them arrived in front of a large arena.
Sketa Online wise, this was considered the PvP arena, meaning the players could duel each other without actually dying, and then get prizes if they win.
Rael thought of ignoring it and moving aside, but Uriel coughed, and said:
"Father, should we spar?"
"Spar? I mean... Sure? Did Vatyra teach you how to hold back?"
Uriel nodded.
Seeing that, Rael felt like he had no reason to refuse.
After all, it most definitely beat just walking around and doing nothing.
So with that in mind, the two of them flew into the arena, and after making sure this place was completely empty, they stood a few meters from one another.
Both of them had fighting stances.
Except Uriel’s fighting stance was wonky, and it didn’t really look like anything.
In the end, Rael guessed Vatyra didn’t teach Uriel any combat techniques.
Letting out a sigh, Rael nodded at Uriel.
"Don’t use any Laws, and restrict your strength so you don’t destroy this arena, or the world, for that matter."
"Okay."
"Good. Then, count to three in your head and start."
Having said that, Rael smiled and began counting to three.
Uriel did the same.
The moment the three seconds were up, the ground cracked underneath their feet as they abruptly kicked off, arriving in front of one another.
Since Rael didn’t want to outright hurt Uriel, he decided to just check what Uriel would do.
And as expected, Uriel, who had no actual technique, merely ran forward and tried to strike Rael with a kick.
Even though Rael matched his strength to Uriel’s, he didn’t feel like giving Uriel the satisfaction of getting a hit in, so with that in mind, Rael went ahead and leaned under Uriel’s attack, then swept his other leg, causing him to fall flat on his ass.
But instead of stopping the spar there, Uriel suddenly spun his body around and perfectly replicated Rael’s leg sweep.
It was scary how perfect the leg sweep was, though that didn’t change the fact that Rael had just taught him that technique.
And so, after jumping over the leg sweep, Rael brought his foot down on Uriel’s abdomen, slamming him down into the ground and causing the arena’s ground to shatter.
A gasp escaped Uriel’s mouth, followed by some blood as his arms quickly went limp.
Realizing what he had just done, Rael quickly removed his leg and crouched down beside Uriel, prepared to heal him if necessary.
Yet to Rael’s surprise, Uriel decided to use that to deceive Rael and make him lower his guard.
After all, when he placed his hand in front of Rael’s face and shot out an enormous amount of light mana, he had already expected it to be over.
But it seemed like the tables were turned, as Rael had tanked the attack without budging, and once the light mana faded, Rael simply raised his hand and abruptly lowered it, bonking Uriel on the head and ultimately knocking him out.
With that, Rael stood up and let out a chuckle.
It was a fun spar, albeit a short one.
He could also tell Uriel was pretty creative, and that he had a lot of potential to learn combat, since he could basically replicate everything he saw perfectly.
In a way, Rael wanted to train him, and that was probably what he would do.
But how could he do it without making it seem like he was preparing Uriel for war?
After all, he wanted Uriel to protect Zafira and Lilith. He didn’t want him anywhere near the frontlines.
"..."
What a drag.
