Chapter 878 - 500th Floor
Chapter 878: 500th Floor
When they arrived at the 495th floor, the first people they were met with were none other than Zafira, Lilith, and lastly, Nyx. All of them seemed pretty bored, though their expressions underwent a change when they spotted the two of them.
After all, every single one of them hated Lucien nearly equally. If anything, Rael was the one who hated him the most just because of the things he had experienced and seen.
Though, the cherry on top was the fact that Lucien was now trapped inside a bubble. After Rael told the women that exact same thing, they raised their brows and shared the same uncertainty he had.
"Can’t he escape?"
"Yeah... If he’s inside her inventory, doesn’t he have access to the Law of Space and Time?"
At Lilith’s words, everyone turned to her, so she elaborated.
"The inventory is just a space created by the Law of Space and controlled by the Law of Time. Everyone can have it, and everyone can easily expand it."
Oh? I thought that was the case. But it’s pretty neat to hear it so straightforwardly, Rael thought and turned to Gaia.
Of course, Gaia had already thought it through.
"You don’t have to worry. I’m not an idiot. He’s isolated completely."
"If you say so..." Nyx chimed in with a cough. "Anyways, it’s time for the 500th floor, right? I’m kind of nervous."
"Well, you shouldn’t be that nervous, since I’m the only person going up there," Rael said.
Nyx nodded. "Yep. I know, it doesn’t make it any less nerve-wracking though. What if you get hurt, or what if someone just ambushes us after you’re gone?"
Noticing what she was doing, Zafira scoffed. "Stop trying to act like a damsel in distress when you’re stronger than us."
Nyx clicked her tongue. Afterwards, she just crossed her arms and didn’t say anything else.
Still, the chat continued as they talked about just what else could be on the 500th floor. After all, Rael already knew some tidbits about the floor, due to the help of none other than Lindros.
For one, Rael was aware that the statue one would normally use to switch floors wasn’t exactly what you used on that floor. Instead, you’d need to climb into the fountain that was in the place of the statue.
Though... That fountain was pretty well guarded, so Rael would need to act like a sly bastard if he wanted to bypass all the guards. Not to mention, he had this feeling that someone was just waiting for him up there.
Maybe someone who had a very high affinity over the Law of Fate?
Either way... Rael was as ready as he could be. After all, if he grinded the High Tower for at least a couple more days, several decades would pass on the outside. As he had already said, Rael didn’t want that long to pass.
After all, while he did believe in immortality, he didn’t believe in infinite bonds.
Maybe I’m just being too optimistic and safe with all of this... It’s not like me being gone really changed much in the outside world. It’s just me being very reminiscent of the past... Maybe?
Rael was starting to hesitate and second-guess his decisions. He knew it wasn’t smart to do so, but he still couldn’t help but feel like he should just step forward and leave the rest in the hands of those that were still left in that universe.
"..."
Maybe not.
Either way, Rael glanced over at the others, and then approached the statue. He was planning on breaking it instead of going through the boss floors, since he didn’t want to walk through four floors.
So with that in mind, Rael focused his killing intent on the statue, and once only he and the statue remained, he quickly shattered it.
In the next instant, Rael felt his muscles relax, followed by a strange sensation of warmth washing over his mind. It felt weird, and Rael was sure that it wasn’t that normal. After all, one person in particular didn’t experience this.
That person was none other than Lindros.
Still, Rael waited patiently until this sensation vanished, and the moment it did, he found himself standing not too far away from a fountain.
Soon, the chirping of birds resounded. He spotted several dozen skyscrapers in the distance, and even some floating islands, all of which were inhabited by very powerful beings that Rael could feel even from here.
But even then, he didn’t come here to stargaze. Instead, he came here to prestige. So with that in mind, Rael glanced over at the fountain, prepared to just walk over to it and brute-force his way to his prestige.
Yet before he could do so, a certain figure suddenly appeared beside him, and that figure was none other than Renoir. Rael wore a surprised expression, not expecting Renoir to make it this far up this fast. Not to mention, from the few wounds on his body, it was evident that he had struggled somewhere along the way.
As if that wasn’t enough, his bloodied appearance managed to attract a lot more attention than Rael had wanted him to. And of course, the guards that had been tightly guarding the fountain suddenly turned toward them and immediately grouped them as a shared threat.
"Halt! You two, don’t even try to move."
But Renoir didn’t really care much as he glanced over at Rael, his eyes widening.
"Wow... I didn’t expect to see you as well. What’s up?"
Rael scoffed. "Nothing. Also, I met your wife. She’s a pretty chill woman, all things considered."
At Rael’s nonchalant words, Renoir’s brows twitched. "You met my wife? Where? When?"
"A couple hours ago back on the 75th floor. She’s coming up here as well, I reckon, so you might be able to meet her soon. Though... There’s a very big problem, and it’s the fact that every single person on this floor can one-shot us."
Rael smiled.
"So in short, we’re both fucked."
