Chapter 1325: Old Shan
Chapter 1325: Old Shan
…
Several moments later…
After coming to terms, Leah signed an official contract with Leah.
The content of the contract was simple. Izroth would help introduce Leah to someone who could fix the magic circuits in her body before she graduated from Aeritentiam Academy.
In return, once Leah graduated, she would spend three years working for Izroth as part of the Mystical Realm Palace.
Izroth would also provide a space of her own at the Mystical Realm Palace, along side a generous budget for her magic research. She was even able to request extra funding as long as it was within reason.
Leah would retain credit for her work; however, she would share the findings of her research with Izroth and the Mystical Realm Palace.
It was during their conversation while ironing out the details of the contract that Izroth learned more about the innerworkings of the World Magic Organization.
Everything Izroth knew about the World Magic Organization came from the books he read. But, there was always a lot of information and nuances that could not be learned from books alone.
Besides wanting to prove those who looked down on her wrong and blow past their expectations to have the last laugh, there was another reason why Leah did not want to graduate as a Yellow-rank student.
A graduate from Aeritentiam Academy would be welcomed among virtually any organization or kingdom in the Seven Kingdoms. Even a Yellow-rank student would be eagerly recruited. That’s just how influential Aeritentiam Academy and the World Magic Organization had.
However, the situation was different when it came to the World Magic Organization itself.
Nearly every graduate of Aeritentiam Academy had the goal of joining one of the three divisions of the World Magic Organization. That’s because, if one truly wanted to pursue magic at the highest of levels, there was no better place to do so than one of the three divisions of the World Magic Organization.
The most popular division was the Seekers of Truth. This division specialized in the study of magic theory and forgotten magics. The next division was the Circle of Magic, who focused on practical applications or magic. The last of the three divisions was the High Tribunal, who took upon the role of an enforcement agency within the World Magic Organization. The High Tribunal were also responsible for the political connections maintained between the different kingdoms and organizations in the Mortal Realm.
As someone who liked studying forgotten magic, Leah’s goal was to join the Seekers of Truth. However, while a yellow-rank graduate was enough to impress those outside of the World Magic Organization, to those from the three divisions, they were considered the lowest of the low.
A yellow-rank graduate would be considered lucky to be taken in by one of the three divisions. And, even then, in the most cases, they were only given the status of an intern with no guarantees or real benefits. In truth, the best of them were treated as servants and the worse as practically slaves grasping on to a last bit of hope that would likely never come.
Of course, there was always the possibility that someone could climb up from the status of intern and officially join one of the three divisions as a yellow-rank graduate. However, the number of people who managed to do so were exceedingly rare.
Regardless, there was a reason why Leah and many other graduates who could not move past the yellow-rank still took on such a huge burden and risk.
The World Magic Organization had been around for centuries. Even setting aside all the talented and experienced mages in its ranks, there were magic, books and research materials that could not be found anywhere outside the walls of the World Magic Organization.
If one wanted to avoid missing out on all that the World Magic Organization had to offer, they needed to earn the right to directly join one of the three divisions. This required one to be at least a red-rank student upon graduation.
Unfortunately for Leah, despite her best efforts, reaching red-rank was impossible with her damaged magic circuits. That’s because if one wanted to reach red-rank, they were required to master at least one A-rank spell or higher and complete their first magic cycle.
While Leah had long since completed the spell mastery requirement, with her damaged, or rather sabotaged, magic circuits, she could not overcome the barrier of having to complete her first magic cycle.
“There is still some business that I must finish up in Danaharpe before we depart. I will send word to the Kroma Family estate when it is time to leave. Are you sure that the Kroma Family will be alright with your sudden departure?” Izroth asked.
“Graduation day is still three months away. Since I still need to make the trip back to the academy and confirm my rank at the final ceremony, as long as my magic circuits can be fixed within two months, there should not be any problems.” Leah confirmed.
She then added, “Also, I have already finished my original work request at the Kroma Family estate. The only reason why I remained here was at their request for the sake of Lady Harpe. However, since you have solved that matter, there is no longer any reason for me to stay here.”
Not long after Leah finished speaking, the doors to the room opened.
Quicksil had returned and was accompanied by three other people. Two of them, Izroth had already met before. One was the Head of the Kroma Family, Mithron. And, the other was Elder Argenthea.
As for the third person, he was a skinny old man with thin ashen gray hair and hazel eyes. From the casual way the man was dressed in simple dark green tunic that seemed one step too large for his skinny body, one could easily mistaken him for a commoner elderly man who lost his way in the Kroma Family estate.
However, Izroth knew that if someone were able to set foot this deep into the Kroma Family estate, their identity was not simple. More importantly, this old man was positioned at the front of the group and walked ahead of even the Head of the Kroma Family himself.
Izroth used his Divine Appraisal on the old man; however, he received a series of unexpected alerts from the system.
〈System Alert: The skill «Divine Appraisal» has failed! The selected target is protected by a strong divine power!〉
〈System Alert: Due to the title «Miracle Healer», you have been somewhat acknowledged by an unknown strong divine power!〉
〈System Alert: The strong divine power has permitted the partial use of «Divine Appraisal»!〉

~Appraisal~
‘Oh? Besides the Holy Saintess of O’Tohelm, he’s the only other person who has been protected by a strong divine power when I try to use my Divine Appraisal. Though this divine power seems a bit friendly because of my title. Then, is it a divine being related to healing or life? Either way, despite being a bit friendly, it certainly didn’t permit much.’
Besides the old man’s name, there was nothing else to look at.
“So, this is the young man who healed the Grand Duke’s treasured daughter where others twice and thrice his age failed. Indeed, the younger generation shall surpass the older without fail.” Old Shan said as he abruptly appeared next to Amelia’s bedside.
‘This old man might seem defenseless, but he’s dangerous. I couldn’t any sense changes to the surroundings when he moved.’
Leah was startled by the sudden shift in locations of the old man. However, since even Mithron did not say anything or make a move, Leah understood that this old man was special.
Old Shan placed his index finger on Amelia’s forehead. At the same time, the color of his eyes turned from hazel to light gold.
A few seconds later, Old Shan moved his finger from Amelia’s forehead as his eyes returned to normal.
“The life energy in this child’s body has increased several fold since the first time I checked on her. But, there are no other changes that can be detected within her body.” Old Shan stated calmly.
“Then, the young lady-” Mithron started, but was quickly cut off.
“Aye, it’s not what you think. It’s faint, but I can sense traces of what used to be. Supreme Elder Izroth, since you were the one who faced it, it’s best if you explain the details yourself.” Old Shan commented.
“Forgive the late introductions. Supreme Elder Izroth, this respected elder goes by Old Shan. Old Shan is the eternal benefactor of my Kroma Family. His words can be seen as my own.” Mithron stated.
“Eternal benefactor my foot. I just did your great grandfather a favor back then and that old man refused to let it go without talking about repaying me.” Old Shan said as he brushed it off casually.
“If you never saved by great grandfather’s life back then, the bloodline of the Kroma Family would have been cut off forever, respected elder.” Mithron reminded.
“Aye, enough of old things. Supreme Elder Izroth, go ahead.” Old Shan urged on.
