Chapter 1326: Connections of Ignorance or Greed?

Chapter 1326: Connections of Ignorance or Greed?

“Then, I’ll explain in detail…” Izroth said as he went on to explain how he treated Amelia and what occurred during her treatment.

Of course, this also included the presence of shadahi blood that had somehow invaded Amelia’s body.

When Izroth mentioned the shadahi blood, everyone’s expressions became serious. There was not a single person present who did not know the dangers of the shadahi.

“Shadahi blood?! Supreme Elder Izroth, are you certain it was not something similar?” Mithron asked, hoping that Izroth was somehow mistaken.

However, Izroth shook his head and confirmed, “There were a few strange things about it that made it different from typical shadahi blood. But, without a doubt, the core of it was shadahi blood itself. Of this, I am certain.”

He then continued, “From this moment on, I am no longer speaking strictly as a healer invited to the Kroma Family estate, nor as the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion, but as the Commander of the General Support Unit Special Unit. Whatever is going on in Danaharpe, I believe it is tied to the League of the Eidolon and the shadahi. And, whether they are merely doing so out of pure ignorance or intentionally—the Duvelle Family is also a part of this.”

Quicksil was taken aback by Izroth’s words. He was not alone. Mithron also seemed surprised that Izroth mentioned those three names together.

The League of the Eidolon worshipped the Netherworld Monarch, while the shadahi worked on a strict hierarchy that was built into their very being. After all, all shadahi originated from one being—the eternal darkness.

It was common knowledge that the Nether Realm and Mortal Realm never got along with one another. It had been that way longer than anyone could remember, as if it had always existed that way. However, it was also common knowledge that the shadahi did not ally itself with anyone.

Of course, that was until the kingdom of Tempest unleashed that horror upon the Mortal Realm once more and somehow convinced the shadahi to work with them.

If the shadahi were willing to ally itself with Tempest, who was to say that the League of the Eidolon and Nether Realm were out of the possibility?

“Since you are speaking in the capacity of a Commander of the General Support Unit, I am sure you understand the weight of your words. I am not fond of how the Duvelle Family carries itself in Danaharpe; however, they are still a noble family of Amaharpe. To accuse them based on accusations alone without any solid evidence—it is no different than challenging the honor of every noble of Amaharpe.” Mithron commented.

Mithron never liked the way the Duvelle Family carried themselves so arrogantly in Danaharpe. Or, how they tried to use money and connections to spread their influence recklessly throughout the city. But, since the Kroma Family did not involve themselves in the politics of Danaharpe, they never paid it any mind. That said, it was different if the Duvelle Family was actively cooperating with enemies of Amaharpe and its allies. Even if it were unintentional, they would not be able to avoid the consequences that followed.

“I already have someone working to gather solid evidence of the Duvelle Family’s involvement. If the Kroma Family is willing to lend a hand in the investigation, we should be able to yield results faster. Be if the Duvelle Family’s innocent or stupidity.” Izroth stated calmly.

He then continued, “According to the investigation from my sources, the Duvelle family wants to use the channels of the Arugant Family to move certain products from the League of the Eidolon. This information was gathered from a secret meeting that was held between Pierce Duvelle and Rivet Arugant.”

Quicksil furrowed his brows and said, “The Duvelle Family’s influence in Danaharpe has grown over the years. Their relationship with the Arugant Family in particular seems to have developed rapidly over these past couple of weeks. I found it strange since the Duvelle Family has its own supply channels, but if they are eyeing the Arugant Family’s supply channels, their end goal must lie outside of Danaharpe City itself.”

“Unlike the Duvelle Family, the Arugant Family have supply channels that flow out of Danaharpe City to other major cities. They are not grand by any means, but it’s also not something that can be ignored.” Mithron stated with a serious gaze.

“So… It’s the Arugant Family’s supply channel, after all.” A voice sounded from the bed, causing everyone’s gaze to shift.

Amelia, who had just been lying unconscious not that long ago, had awakened and currently sat upright as her back leaned against the headboard.

“Lady Harpe, you’re awake…!” Quicksil exclaimed.

“Young miss, how are you feeling?” Mithron asked as he looked at Amelia with eyes full of guilt.

“Surprisingly, I feel much better than I do when I first arrived in Danaharpe.” Amelia said as her gaze swept around the room before landing on Izroth.

“Young miss, please forgive this old man for failing to protect you properly. Thankfully, Quicksil was able to bring someone like Supreme Elder Izroth to treat you. Otherwise, I do not know if you would have ever awakened. If that happened, I would not have the heart to face your father.” Mithron said regretfully.

“It’s not your fault, Uncle Mithron. No one could have predicted that anyone would be so bold as to launch an attack on the Noble District in Danaharpe City, let alone that I would be the target of that attack. The guards you provided, if it were not for them stepping forward, I may not have escaped with my life back then. I want to make sure all their families are taken care of.” Amelia said as she maintained a calm expression; however, the look in her eyes was sharp and her hands squeezed the bedsheets.

“I have already had Quicksil take care of the matter. Rest assured, the Kroma Family will not let them suffer any more than they already have.” Mithron stated clearly.

Amelia looked over at Old Shan and said, “Grandpa Shan, it’s rare of you to leave seclusion. It is good to see you in good health.”

“Aye, this little girl, whose fault do you think it is that this old man had to drag his weary bones all the way here? What good health? Can’t you see that I’m on my last leg?” Old Shan said grumpily.

Amelia politely covered her mouth and she released a small giggle. She then replied, “You look like you can live for at least another hundred years. I would be greatly saddened if you were the miss the day I become wed. So, you must stay healthy.”

Old Shan could not help but to let out a hearty laugh at Amelia’s words.

“Ha! Yes, yes I suppose I do have to at least live that long. I must not miss the look on the Grand Duke’s face when that day arrives.” Old Shan said as he released another burst of laughter.

Mithron and Quicksil stood there with a look of helplessness. There were few people in Amaharpe who dared to mention the Grand Duke in such a light manner. Of course, Old Shan was one of them.

Amelia turned her attention toward Izroth as she placed the back palm of her left hand onto the palm of her right hand.

“May I know the name of my benefactor?” Amelia asked politely.

“I am called Izroth.” Izroth said in a carefree manner.

“So, it is Sir Izroth. As someone who represents the Grand Duke Harpe Family, allow me to express my deepest gratitude. I, nor the Grand Duke Harpe Family, shall ever forget your kindness.” Amelia said elegantly with clear sincerity.

“I simply kept my part of the agreement that was made. But, your gratitude—I will not turn it away. Miss Dovesing was also of great help in your recovery. Be sure to reward her properly for her efforts.” Izroth stated without hesitation.

Leah nearly jumped in shock at Izroth’s words. Not only did he speak to Amelia in a casual way, but he never asked that she be rewarded for her efforts despite the Kroma Family already offering her a reward.

“This person is too bold.” Leah thought to herself; however, the way Izroth spoke up for her to be rewarded caused Leah to inwardly smile. It was not a bad feeling to have someone stand forward for your sake.

“Naturally, the Kroma Family represents the Kroma Family and I represent the Grand Duke of Harpe Family. How can I be so narrowminded as to not consider the two matters separate? My life is worth at least that much.” Amelia responded.

She then continued, “Rewards aside, I am curious about your earlier statement, Sir Izroth. Is the source of your information reliable?”

“I trust in them and their competence.” Izroth replied without hesitation.

“Since you trust in them, I shall place my trust in the judgment of you, who saved my life. Uncle Mithron, go ahead with the investigation into the Duvelle and Arugant families. If you run into any trouble, I will permit the use of the Grand Duke of Harpe’s name.” Amelia said firmly.
