Rebirth: I became rich by farming

Chapter 689 Seafood (1/2)

Chapter 689: Chapter 689 Seafood (1/2)

Let’s not talk about others. Even Lai Xixi herself hadn’t seen Yong Yan for two months. Communication wasn’t as advanced as it would be later, so it wasn’t particularly easy to video chat or anything like that. This led to the tragedy that unfolded when the two of them met again after two months, Lai Xixi was dismayed. She knew she had gotten a tan, but she didn’t expect to turn this dark. Moreover, her initial thoughts were exactly the same as Mei Mengzhen’s; they both firmly believed that Yong Yan must have gone to get a beauty treatment.

However, that wasn’t the case.

Yong Yan had indeed spent the past two months just sitting in the office. But Yong Yan was also very busy with work, having not only to get up early but also to work overtime every day continuously for these two months, and without getting any sun, he naturally got paler.

Yong Yan, somewhat embarrassed, comforted her, "It’s okay, you’ll get your fair skin back."

Lai Xixi replied coldly, "It took an entire winter for my skin to recover from the tanning during military training, which means if I want to get fair again, I’ll have to wait until this winter is over, right? So, is there any point in saying that?"

No, there certainly wasn’t any point, but saying nothing wouldn’t work either; Lai Xixi would get even more upset.

Just as she finished her rant, Mei Mengzhen had already opened the cake and now even the candles were in place. Surrounded by everyone singing, Mei Mengchen’s 6th birthday was celebrated with great liveliness.

The dishes were the same as always, all delicious, but it was the atmosphere that was truly warm and joyful. The only regret was that Pei Ziyu and Tan Jia, who hadn’t had time to come back, were missing.

After distributing the cake, Mei Mengzhen turned to He Yiran and inquired, "Sister Tianhua, how much do you know about the legal case they’re in? How long will it take for them to finish? I feel like it’s been half a year already."

He Yiran was quite annoyed as she replied, "It’s only been half a year. These lawsuits take 2 to 3 years to finish. There is however a period of break after one phase ends. Brother Pei and Brother Tan should be almost done. What’s up, are you upset? Don’t be, it’s nothing to be angry about. At least you spent some time with Brother Pei. Tan Jia and I had just started."

"No, I was just asking. I don’t know much about these lawsuits, so I was just curious." Having said that, Mei Mengzhen added, "Also, I just miss him a little bit."

He Yiran pursed her lips with a sense of resignation. It’s the same for everyone, but they are both fresh graduates who value their careers, which is understandable. Moreover, there were many bonds between them which wouldn’t break easily, so they would eventually have time to accompany them; there wasn’t much to regret. "Alright, if you miss him, just give him a call."

"We call each other every day. If the webcam was clearer, clear enough to even see the freckles on the face, I would have video chatted with him a lot more."

Fu Rui didn’t quite understand why it had to be that high definition.

Then Mei Mengzhen cheekily said, "I don’t have any freckles on my face; if any show up in the video, they’re someone else’s, but high definition shows off my beauty, so naturally, I want it high definition."

Just talk about being cheeky, but the key is, the cheekier she was, the more endearing she became – what’s that all about?

The birthday party ended successfully, and since there were young children present, everyone went their separate ways after feeling full and happy.

Upon returning home, Mei Mengzhen took her younger brother straight to their own home, and Tianhua didn’t even ride the elevator with them, going directly to her own home in the neighboring unit.

Before leaving, Tianhua made a special reminder, "Zhenzhen, I’ll come to your place to get my clothes tomorrow. I’m so tired today; I’m heading back first."

Before Qi Yongwang could react, the four of them had taken the elevator. Only after they had gone did Qi Yongwang dare to ask, "This, Brother Tianyu, are Zhenzhen and Sister Tianhua..."

Fan Tianyu answered, "You’re right. Actually, we all have our own houses. We only squeezed into my place because of Qiuhe’s visit. Now that Qiuhe is gone, there’s no need for us to cram together any longer."

Fan Tianyu moved back to the master bedroom, and there was no need for Qi Yongwang to relocate. After all, it was just one week. He stayed in the guest room, but it took him all night to slowly digest this news.

Finally back in his own home, Mei Mengchen was both happy and unhappy. He was happy that he could finally return to his own home, but unhappy that he would have to sleep in a different room from his sister.

Mei Mengchen was a bit reluctant, "Sister, Chenchen has to sleep alone?"

Having not returned for nearly two months, the bed sheets had to be changed before they could sleep. Mei Mengzhen was changing them while she replied, "That’s right, Chenchen can finally have his own space. Are you happy now?"

"Happy."

She didn’t hear any joy in Mei Mengchen’s voice. Mei Mengzhen said, "Is Chenchen just not used to sleeping alone all of a sudden? It’s okay, your sister is just next door, and you’re a big boy now. Do you really need your sister to accompany you to sleep?"

"Right, Chenchen is a big boy, I’ll sleep by myself."

After putting her brother to bed, Mei Mengzhen finally had time to tidy up her own things. After lying down, Mei Mengzhen started exploring the cultivation of marine life in her Spatial Mall.

She didn’t have any marine life in her space, so there was no marine life in Xiyuan. But she knew marine life needed to grow in seawater, so the stream in her space was out of the question. However, she could certainly dig a space and fill it with sea water to cultivate marine life.

Since a lot of goods had been cleared out and placed elsewhere, an empty plot of land was now available, which is where her little wooden cabin used to be. Mei Mengzhen used her thoughts to dig out a large area and then purchased a sufficient amount of seawater from the Spatial Mall to fill it up. As for whether she could manage to cultivate marine life, Mei Mengzhen really wasn’t sure, so she simply added a barrel of Spiritual Spring Water to it, reckoning that marine life in the seawater would survive now that it was mixed with Spiritual Spring Water.

Mei Mengzhen didn’t know which seafood thrived in shallow areas and which in deeper zones. She simply bought all the marine life seedlings she knew of and threw them into the seawater.

The seawater was calm without a ripple. When she used the net to scoop up the seedlings she had thrown in, there was no change in them. She wasn’t in a hurry; after all, not everything grows instantly. Besides, since the sea area was her own creation and didn’t come with an instruction manual, slowly figuring things out through trial and error was acceptable.

After finishing these tasks, Mei Mengzhen took a bath with Spiritual Spring Water before going to sleep.

After a good night’s sleep, the first thing she did upon waking was to check on the situation in the seawater within her space. The sea surface was still as calm as ever. She took out the fishing net and scooped again, but this time, not only did she fish out a lot of things, they had all grown significantly.

In just one night, they had grown so much and the growth rate was not slow at all. The shrimps that she had cast into the water the day before were less than an inch long, but having scooped them up again, they had grown so much. If they continued to grow like this...
