Chapter 1009: Refusal

Chapter 1009: Chapter 1009: Refusal

"Aunt Blue Eyes."

Upon seeing Aunt Lucy, Chenchen was instantly captivated by her bright blue eyes.

From then on, whenever Chenchen saw Aunt Lucy, he would call her Aunt Blue Eyes.

"Chenchen, you’re still as beautiful as a doll." Aunt Lucy adored Tang Yue’s two children; their looks were simply too stunning, especially Chenchen, with those large, round eyes, so animated.

Even though Aunt Lucy had her own child, she still liked Chenchen.

"Auntie is beautiful too." Chenchen grinned happily; although young, she felt pleased when praised by others.

"Hello Aunt Lucy." Zaocao greeted Aunt Lucy while reading a book, then continued her reading.

Holding Chenchen, Aunt Lucy’s gaze fell upon the book in Zaocao’s hands. From afar, she thought it was a classic, but upon closer inspection, it was indeed a classic, though not a Chinese version, but an original English edition.

"Zaocao, can you understand it?" Aunt Lucy’s pretty blue eyes were on Zaocao, who was dressed in a simple shirt and shorts, yet on his five-year-old frame, exuded an outstanding aura with an undeniable nobility.

Aunt Lucy was secretly amazed; so young, yet so composed and extraordinary. Such a boy, once grown, would surely be exceptional, not to mention backed by the Meng Family and Lian Family, and Tang Yue, a renowned designer, as his mother. Who knows how many girls will fall for him in the future.

It’s a pity she didn’t have a daughter.

Just as she felt a pang of regret, Aunt Lucy thought to herself that she could still strive; what a boon it would be to have such a son-in-law.

While Aunt Lucy was lost in thought, Zaocao began reading the classic aloud in pure English pronunciation.

Zaocao’s reading wasn’t like a monk’s chanting; it rose and fell, mesmerizing to hear.

Just as Aunt Lucy was enjoying it, Zaocao suddenly stopped.

"Why did you stop?" Aunt Lucy asked.

Zaocao glanced at Aunt Lucy with his dark eyes, then continued reading.

"Ahem," Tang Yue cleared her throat, stepping in to speak for her son, "Zaocao doesn’t read aloud often; he usually reads silently to himself. He loves all kinds of books."

"Reading is good."

Aunt Lucy realized quickly too; Zaocao was responding to her question through his reading. She had asked if he could understand, and Zaocao showed he could by reading aloud. Why would he continue reading aloud once he had already proven he understood?

"Chenchen, look what nice things I’ve brought for you." Aunt Lucy awkwardly changed the topic.

Most of the items in the box were for Chenchen: clothes, pretty hair clips, and lovely Barbie dolls. For Zaocao, there were two outfits; boys don’t have as many favored things.

"Pretty."

"I like it."

Chenchen clutched the pretty princess dress and immediately ran to her room to try it on. Layered white princess dress matched with Chenchen’s cute doll-like face—utter adorableness.

Tang Yue also got into the mood for fashion, and together with Aunt Lucy, styled Chenchen’s hair. They placed a golden wig on her, turning her straight black hair into golden curls, combined with a pair of white leather shoes.

The precious little look immediately captured Tang Yue’s heart.

"Xiao Yang, you’re back just in time. Where’s the camera?"

Tang Yue called out as soon as she saw Lian Qingyang return home. Although they had phones now, the camera function was almost useless. Therefore, Tang Yue still used the camera more often.

"I’ll go get it."

Lian Qingyang also noticed Chenchen’s adorable look, and snapped pictures of her with the camera.

The second outfit was a British-style black-and-white checkered short skirt, giving Chenchen yet another different look.

Tang Yue and Aunt Lucy were busy changing Chenchen’s clothes, hair clips, and shoes, while Lian Qingyang handled photographing—three adults happily entertaining one child.

Zaocao looked up briefly, then continued reading without much interest, as he was accustomed to this scenario.

"Xiao Yang, remember to print two copies of these photos, one to keep and one for us to view." Tang Yue instructed, assuming the photos were all good.

"Xiao Yue, please save some for me too," Aunt Lucy shamelessly requested.

"Okay." Tang Yue agreed without hesitation; there were quite a few photos of Aunt Lucy with Chenchen taken.

"Got it, sis, don’t worry." Lian Qingyang patted his chest and assured her, "Oh, sis, I wanted to tell you something. I’m returning to Sea City for about half a month or a month in the upcoming days."

"Did something happen?" Tang Yue asked. "Is it about the Lian Family?"

"No, it’s just that there’s plenty to do at the Lian Group, so I need to go handle it." Although Lian Qingyang didn’t travel often, sometimes it was necessary.

"Stay safe." Tang Yue said, adding, "Oh, I’ve made some outfits for Grandfather, you can take them with you."

Tang Yue went to her studio to retrieve the clothes and handed them to Lian Qingyang.

After returning to his room, Lian Qingyang realized the clothes were not only for Grandfather but also for his father.

Dad will surely be delighted to see this, Lian Qingyang couldn’t help but think to himself. The next day, Tang Yue brought clothes for Aunt, and the kids. Even Lian Qingzhi and the two children had outfits to take along.

Seeing the two boxes of clothes, Lian Qingyang couldn’t help but say, "Sis, don’t you usually mail things to them? How come there are so many here!"

"Aunt loves those clothes. I planned to mail them, but since you’re going to Sea City, it saves on postage." Tang Yue explained.

Lian Qingyang: "..."

Postage isn’t that costly.

Alright, Lian Qingyang resigned himself to it, and obediently carried the luggage back to Sea City.

"Xiao Yue, shall we discuss the business now?" Aunt Lucy handed over an invitation card.

Zaocao and Chenchen had been taken out to play by Zhang Hualian, leaving only her and Tang Yue at home.

The gold embossed invitation card read ’Tang Designer’. Holding it, she couldn’t help but say, "Lucy, the fashion show is just over two months away, less than three months now, and I’m unprepared."

Though her previous design garnered fame, Tang Yue wasn’t keen on rushing it.

"Xiao Yue, I believe you’ll manage." Aunt Lucy had great confidence in Tang Yue.

"No, I’ve considered it and decided to participate in the winter fashion show next February to March. That way, I’ll have ample preparation time." Tang Yue had contemplated this decision for a long time, as it was her first year preparing for a fashion show, naturally requiring thorough consideration.

The fabric selection and the transition from design draft to finished product would require slightly less than half a year, otherwise it wouldn’t be feasible.
