Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 1033: None of Your Business

Chapter 1033: Chapter 1033: None of Your Business

Lian Qingyang stood by the window, the cold wind blowing in, cooling his heated heart.

He worried that the strong wind might make Jin Yan in the ward sicker, so he only stood there for a short while before returning to the ward. He sat on the neighboring bed, his eyes fixed on the water in the IV drip, gradually calming down.

Cooled down, Lian Qingyang tilted his head in thought, looking at Jin Yan sleeping soundly on the hospital bed, and muttered to himself: It’s all that dream’s fault!

"Nurse, the IV drip is empty."

When Lian Qingyang saw the IV drip was empty, he called the nurse. Though Jin Yan slept sweetly, Lian Qingyang’s stomach started to sing "The Empty City Plan".

It was already six in the evening. Walking through the corridor, the aroma of food mixed with the smell of disinfectant wafted through. Even someone as germophobic as him couldn’t help but want a bite of hot food.

Sister, dear sister, you haven’t forgotten about me, right?

Lian Qingyang frequently glanced at the door, hoping to see Tang Yue’s celestial-like face and thinking about the fragrant dishes she cooked, causing his stomach to keep rumbling.

Mr. Tang’s braised beef shank!

Lian Qingyang couldn’t help but lick his lips at the thought of the braised beef shank, imagining himself gnawing on the tendons, savoring the marrow inside, making his stomach growl even more.

I can’t take it anymore; my stomach’s completely empty.

Lian Qingyang stood at the ward’s door, looking back and forth, muttering to himself but daring not to leave. Though there were no more drips, who knew if there might be something else later?

Leaving a girl alone in the ward, lonely and uncared for, isn’t what a man should do.

"Xiao Yang?" Jin Yan’s weak voice sounded.

The ward was very quiet, and Lian Qingyang’s stomach growling had woken Jin Yan.

"Gold, you’re awake?"

"Does your head still feel dizzy? Is there anywhere else uncomfortable?"

Lian Qingyang turned around and walked over, seeing her usually spirited and lively self now weak, which truly made her look pitiable.

Lian Qingyang reached out his hand to her forehead, still a bit warm, but much cooler than before.

Jin Yan dumbfoundedly looked at Lian Qingyang, as his concerned words and slightly cold hand landed on her forehead, carrying his unique scent with a faint hint of smoke.

She must be infatuated, as even the faint smoke smell on him fascinated her.

"Did the fever make you dull?" Lian Qingyang leaned down, looking at Jin Yan’s silly appearance, couldn’t help muttering: "Gold, is there anywhere else you’re uncomfortable? What number is this?"

Lian Qingyang held up one finger.

Jin Yan: "..."

"What’s this number?" Lian Qingyang held up two fingers.

Jin Yan gave him a glance, without saying a word.

Lian Qingyang jumped up, shouting: "Oh no, you’ve really become sillier from the fever."

"Doctor, I need to call the doctor."

As he said this, he ran outside, looking as if the sky was falling, making Jin Yan unable to help but twitch her mouth as she shouted at Lian Qingyang: "Xiao Yang, you might not care, but I still do."

Last time when her period came, and the cramps made it seem like she was miscarrying because of Lian Qingyang’s actions.

Today, he brought her to see the doctor, who thought she had some severe illness.

If Lian Qingyang told the doctor she had become dull from the fever, she felt she would never return to this hospital.

Her embarrassment would be taken all the way to her grandma’s house.

"You’re not dull?" Lian Qingyang stopped his steps, turned around to look at Jin Yan, and her words took her quite some effort.

Jin Yan side-turned on the bed, caught her breath, and said: "I’m not dull, you are dull. Where’s Sister Xiao Yue?"

"My sister had to leave for something but should be back soon." Lian Qingyang responded: "Then, should I still call the doctor?"

"Why should the doctor be called when I’m alright, are you hoping for me to be more seriously ill?"

Jin Yan glared at him fiercely, having already taken the medicine, she was only feeling a bit dizzy now, with nothing else wrong.

"No." Lian Qingyang shook his head quickly, saying: "I know you don’t want me to take care of you, but my sister is busy lately, so don’t mind."

Jin Yan: "..."

"Oh, my braised beef shank, Mr. Tang must have made it, but I didn’t have the chance to eat it, what a pity."

Lian Qingyang muttered, thinking of the braised beef shank made him feel even hungrier.

"You can go back, I don’t need your care." Jin Yan looked at his reluctant appearance, feeling half cold-hearted.

Lian Qingyang sat on an empty bed beside her, saying: "If I leave, my sister will scold me harshly."

"My sister is something else, not coming to deliver dinner so late." Lian Qingyang craned his neck to look outside.

"I’ll tell Sister Xiao Yue, you can go back."

Jin Yan couldn’t help but close her eyes.

Lian Qingyang fell silent, his eyes shifted outside, wanting to leave but feeling bad.

Lian Qingyang hadn’t had time to shake his head, asserting himself as a man, not leaving Jin Yan alone there, when the ward door opened, and Tang Yue’s voice said: "Lian Qingyang, is this how you take care of someone?"

"Sister, I took great care!" Lian Qingyang looked towards Tang Yue with a face full of grievance.

"Hmph."

Tang Yue snorted coldly at Lian Qingyang, damn kid, wasting her efforts for nothing.

"Xiao Yan, don’t pay him any mind. He is just saying one thing and meaning another, obviously caring about you." Tang Yue explained.

Lian Qingyang’s lips moved, wanting to explain but not knowing where to start, he simply directed his gaze at the food Tang Yue brought, and asked: "Sister, did you bring something delicious for me?"

"Did Mr. Tang’s braised beef shank get packed? Just thinking about it makes me drool."

Tang Yue brought out two large insulated lunch boxes that looked like they contained a lot.

"Always thinking about food."

Tang Yue glanced at him, taking out the insulated lunch boxes, laying them out layer by layer. The dishes were light but looked delicious. Three dishes, a bowl of rice, and a bowl of soup.

"Sister, what about me?"

Lian Qingyang looked at Tang Yue arrange all the dishes from the two insulated containers, yet none were for him, shocking him into statue-like stillness.

Tang Yue didn’t even lift her eyelid and answered, "None."

"Sister."

Lian Qingyang drew out his tone, rubbing his empty stomach, pitifully.

Supporting Jin Yan in sitting up, Tang Yue thoughtfully set up a table on the hospital bed, placing delicious dishes in front of her, gently saying: "Xiao Yan, I know you might not feel like eating with a fever, but please try to eat some."
