Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets

Chapter 1034: Blind Date

Chapter 1034: Chapter 1034: Blind Date

"Thank you, Sister Xiao Yue." Jin Yan smiled softly, looking up to see Tang Yue’s gentle demeanor. After so many years of knowing each other, Jin Yan truly sees Tang Yue as her real sister. No, even those with blood relations like cousins aren’t as close as she is with Tang Yue.

Illness struck quickly, and with Jin Yan feeling more sentimental than usual, especially at a time when her grandparents and parents aren’t around, only Tang Yue is there to care for her. Jin Yan felt touched, and the corners of her eyes seemed to glisten with tears.

"The soup is delicious." Jin Yan took a sip of the three-flavor soup. The light, fresh soup still emitted steam, smelled fragrant, and tasted even better.

Even though Jin Yan didn’t have much of an appetite, she couldn’t help but drink more.

"If it’s good, have some more. There’s plenty of other dishes too, eat as much as you can."

"Getting your health back on track is what’s important."

Tang Yue’s gentle voice kept sounding.

Lian Qingyang swallowed hard. Smelling the fragrant aroma of the three-flavor soup, he only felt even hungrier.

"Sister, there’s really none for me?" Qingyang asked again, not convinced.

Tang Yue glanced at him.

Qingyang looked at her pitifully and with grievance.

"Yours is right here."

Wu Xin came in carrying two insulated lunch boxes.

"Sister, I knew you wouldn’t leave me out," Qingyang said with delight, looking at the two lunchboxes — one full of stewed beef shank, cut into smaller pieces for easier packing.

The aroma of stewed beef shank made Qingyang take a deep breath in. He found a small table, sat down, and started gnawing away.

The other lunchbox contained rice and vegetables. After finishing the beef shank, Qingyang began eating the rice, mixing in a little beef shank soup — the taste was amazing.

Lian Qingyang cleaned out both lunchboxes completely.

*Burp*

Qingyang let out a satisfied burp, saying, "Sister, Mr. Tang’s beef shank is truly delicious. Even the flavor of the broth was excellent."

Qingyang couldn’t help but lick his lips. Not only the beef shank but he even finished rice soaked in the broth.

"Once you’re done eating, head home early. Mom’s preparing to make dumplings, remember to lend a hand." Tang Yue handed all the lunch boxes to Qingyang.

Qingyang looked at Tang Yue, then at Jin Yan resting on the bed after eating, feeling that the Tang Yue who used to try pairing him and Jin Yan together is pushing him away unusually early today.

"Why, do you want to stay?" Tang Yue raised an eyebrow.

Qingyang shook his head and said, "Sister, you stay and take care of Gold. I’ll head back now, maybe I’ll even catch mom making a few dumplings."

Qingyang grinned and walked away with the lunch boxes.

Wu Xin’s job was to protect Tang Yue, so since Tang Yue hadn’t left, neither would Wu Xin.

"Wu Xin, there won’t be any issues with the doctor." Tang Yue didn’t want Wu Xin to get too tired.

Wu Xin said, "Xiao Yue, there’s nothing for me back home anyway. There are two beds here, I’ll ask for an accompanying bed, and we can keep each other company."

"Just treat me as invisible."

Wu Xin added.

Tang Yue shrugged, letting Wu Xin rest beside her, not bothering about her again. She stayed with Jin Yan at the hospital, chatting, mostly about design matters.

Jin Yan repeatedly expressed she didn’t need Tang Yue’s company, but Tang Yue firmly stated, "Xiao Yan, being alone at the hospital is too lonely. Don’t worry, I’ll stay with you for a day. Once you’re stable, it’ll be alright."

"Sister Xiao Yue."

Jin Yan felt moved again.

Listening to Grandpa’s advice years ago, staying by Tang Yue’s side was such a wise decision!

"You call me ’Sister,’ it’s only right I accompany you when you’re ill." Tang Yue smiled gently.

Knows Tang Yue might have something to say, Wu Xin purposefully suggested going for a walk and buy some fruit.

Tang Yue didn’t refuse. She considered Wu Xin hers, but Jin Yan, having a thin skin, might feel embarrassed if Wu Xin was there to hear what she had to say.

Once Wu Xin went out, Tang Yue looked at Jin Yan and said, "Xiao Yan, with no one else around, let’s speak frankly. It’s high time you and Xiao Yang stop dancing around; let’s break this silence once and for all."

Jin Yan anticipated what Tang Yue might say and was about to explain, but Tang Yue interrupted, "Xiao Yan, you like Xiao Yang, don’t you?"

"Don’t deny it."

Tang Yue didn’t give Jin Yan a chance to speak, adding, "Mom and I both like you. Xiao Yang’s feelings for you, while he might not realize it himself, are clear to us outsiders — his feelings for you are special, there’s emotion involved."

Jin Yan’s expression revealed a slight bitter smile, saying, "Sister Xiao Yue, maybe we misunderstood."

Jin Yan didn’t deny her feelings, this secret admiration had nearly drained her emotionally.

"No." Tang Yue walked up to Jin Yan, sitting in front of her hospital bed, stating earnestly, "Xiao Yan, the feelings he has for you are definitely romantic. He just hasn’t figured it out or understood his own heart."

"Sister Xiao Yue, maybe..." Jin Yan lightly leaned against Tang Yue, saying, "Maybe we’re genuinely not meant to be."

"Xiao Yan, do you trust me?" Tang Yue suddenly asked.

Jin Yan, not understanding, lifted her head to look at Tang Yue. Tang Yue was so beautiful, beautiful enough to make Jin Yan sometimes marvel, even as everyone says she’s the pretty one, Tang Yue’s beauty radiates from within.

"Xiao Yan, if you trust me, focus on recovering. After some time, I’ll arrange for you to meet someone."

Jin Yan looked at Tang Yue with disbelief at her words.

Tang Yue smiled warmly and continued, "Just a meet-up — if we don’t take drastic steps, my silly brother might only focus on his career, forgetting all about feelings."

"If he misses out on such a good wife, I’ll have to give my silly brother a good thrashing." Tang Yue was pleased with Jin Yan, and it was evident Qingyang had special feelings for Jin Yan. Otherwise, Tang Yue wouldn’t be meddling in matchmaking without a reason, and the only obstacle was Qingyang himself.

Her silly brother, truly emotionally dense.

"But, will this work?" Jin Yan was unsure.

Tang Yue held her hand and said, "Don’t worry about it, surely I want to try?"

Indeed.

Jin Yan responded strongly in her heart, and she couldn’t pinpoint when she placed Qingyang in her heart. She only knew that when she wanted to erase Qingyang’s shadow from her mind, she couldn’t anymore.

"Don’t worry, I’ll make arrangements — I promise you won’t suffer any grievances." Tang Yue comforted Jin Yan, saying if even this couldn’t provoke Qingyang, then it’s better not to hold up such a fine young lady as Xiao Yan.
