Chapter 1048: You Have to Take Responsibility for Me
Chapter 1048: Chapter 1048: You Have to Take Responsibility for Me
"Because I like you, I want to marry you." Lian Qingyang stared at her without blinking, just like in the dream. Up close, her eyes were so beautiful, with pitch-black pupils gleaming brightly.
"Like me?"
"You want to marry me?"
Jin Yan repeated absentmindedly, murmuring to herself, her eyes filled with deep disbelief.
"Yes." Lian Qingyang nodded confidently. He leaned forward and asked, "Will you marry me?"
"I..."
Jin Yan blurted out, but just after saying a word, she held back, swallowing the two words ’willing’. She looked defensively at Lian Qingyang, raising her hand to feel his forehead. It was winter, but his forehead was somewhat warm and had a fine layer of sweat.
"Are you having a fever? Did you go crazy?" Jin Yan looked suspiciously at Lian Qingyang. His words seemed honeyed, but usually, Lian Qingyang was rather carefree; who knows if he was just joking?
"No."
The originally nervous and apprehensive Lian Qingyang felt a wave of helplessness rise from his heart upon seeing Jin Yan’s actions. He said, "Jinzi, I’m serious, I’m extremely serious about what I said."
Lian Qingyang grasped her hand and pressed it to his chest.
Jin Yan was scared and wanted to pull away, but Lian Qingyang was too strong, not giving Jin Yan the chance to withdraw.
"Can you feel my heartbeat? It’s restless because of you. Will you marry me?" Ever since Lian Qingyang recognized his own feelings, he had been thinking about how to bring Jinzi home. Knowing Xu Zhi was Jin Yan’s sworn brother and hearing she was going to marry a much older man, Lian Qingyang’s first thought was to confess. If that didn’t work, he was determined to bring her home by any means necessary.
"You, how suddenly..." Jin Yan found it too abrupt; beneath her palm was Lian Qingyang’s pounding heartbeat, and his serious tone made her feel she was in a dream, walking on air.
If Tang Yue were here, she would certainly knock him on the head, saying there’s no romantic venue, no beautiful flowers, no ring. What kind of proposal was this?
"No, I didn’t see my own feelings clearly before." Lian Qingyang used to love chatting, but now each of his words seemed delicate as poetry, flowing gently like a fresh breeze. He said, "Jinzi, when I saw Xu Zhi being attentive to you, I felt uncomfortable. When I heard you were to marry an old geezer, I just wanted to grab you back, to possess you."
This was serious.
He was jealous.
Realizing this, Jin Yan’s heart began to race.
"I want to see you every day, to be with you every day, to make you smile only at me." Afraid she wouldn’t believe him, Lian Qingyang said incessantly, "From now on, what’s mine is yours. I will pamper you like my brother-in-law pampers my sister, to make you as happy as she is."
"..."
Jin Yan was stunned, dumbstruck, staring at Lian Qingyang.
Lian Qingyang, anxious for her response, heard silence, so he domineeringly said, "You not saying anything means you agree by default."
"How about we use this place as our marital home? What do you think?" Lian Qingyang had already started imagining the future; he hadn’t thought about marriage before, nor about marrying so soon. Once he started thinking, he immediately wanted a happy family like his brother-in-law and sister, and two adorable children.
"This place isn’t far from my sister’s home, close to the factory, spacious. If we want to stay at my sister’s place, we have our room there too."
Lian Qingyang had thought far ahead. The more he spoke, the more excited he got, saying, "If we get married, the happiest will certainly be my sister and my mom. They’ve been whispering good things about you in my ear almost daily. My mom especially likes you, so there’ll be no worries about in-law problems."
"Wait a minute."
Jin Yan couldn’t help interrupting, "Xiao Yang, you’re thinking too far ahead."
She pulled back her hand, still feeling her heart pounding nonstop. Her eyes were shining, and she thought the picture Lian Qingyang painted was too beautiful, reminiscent of her countless daydreams.
"Not far at all." Lian Qingyang grinned broadly, unsure if it was a hallucination. Why did he find Jin Yan increasingly beautiful?
Her smile, why was it so dazzling?
Mmm, just like the her in the dream that day.
"You’re bleeding from your nose." Jin Yan saw blood trickling from his nostrils and quickly shouted loudly, frantically searching for tissues.
Lian Qingyang wiped his hand with blood, quickly tilting his head up. As Jin Yan rolled a tissue into a paper stick and stuffed it into his nostril, seeing him at that moment, she let out a soft laugh. It was the first time she had seen him so embarrassed.
"You’re laughing!" Lian Qingyang felt extremely awkward, wanting to impress her a moment ago, but...
"Were you thinking about something you shouldn’t have?" Jin Yan leaned closer, playfully blinking.
Lian Qingyang reached up and pulled her closer.
Jin Yan, unprepared, fell right into his arms.
"Xiao Yang!" Jin Yan raised her fist to pound his chest, but alas, her little strength was nothing but tickling to Lian Qingyang.
Lian Qingyang held her hand and said, "Marry me."
"Do you think I’ll marry just because you ask?" Jin Yan looked up, her face full of smiles. She pursed her lips and said, "I haven’t decided yet."
Jin Yan pushed him away, but Lian Qingyang didn’t give her a chance, saying, "I gave you my first kiss; you should be responsible for me."
Jin Yan, both shy and angry, widened her eyes and said, "You have the nerve to say that!"
That happened years ago; now using it as an excuse, didn’t he think it was too late?
"Why shouldn’t I say it? You kissed me, so you should be responsible. Besides, you do like me, don’t you? If you don’t marry me, will you marry that four-eyed fellow?" Lian Qingyang boasted, "Compared to that four-eyed fellow, I’m leagues ahead."
"What four-eyed fellow?" Jin Yan recalled the guest at home, looking at his conceited manner, she said, "Xiao Yang, you can’t just talk your way into marrying me."
"Hmph!"
Jin Yan pushed him away and dashed out of the villa. Once at the gate, the cold wind blew, her face still feeling hot. Her lips unconsciously curled upwards as she hailed a taxi and left.
"Don’t go!"
Lian Qingyang hadn’t recovered, seeing Jin Yan run away, he rushed to chase after her.
Jin Yan dashed home, worried the previous event might upset Grandpa. She hurried back to explain.
"You’re back?" Grandpa Jin sat in the living room, leisurely sipping tea, while Dad Jin and Mrs. Jin were on the couch, bearing expressions of a third-degree interrogation.
