Chapter 1049: I Haven’t Agreed Yet

Chapter 1049: Chapter 1049: I Haven’t Agreed Yet

"Grandpa, Mom, Dad." Jin Yan’s eyes were full of joy, and even though she tried to suppress it, it was still visible in her eyes and at the corners of her eyebrows.

"Shouldn’t we have a proper talk about what just happened?"

Mr. Jin had a stern expression on his face. Tang Yue had explained things earlier and Grandpa Jin was quite satisfied. He had always liked Lian Qingyang. Although young, he was promising and had become more mature and steady over the years, making him Grandpa Jin’s ideal choice for his granddaughter’s husband.

But Mr. Jin was not pleased. His daughter was precious to him, and he couldn’t pamper her enough. Yet he thought highly of the person she brought today, a university professor, who was attentive to Xiao Yan as well.

"Mom." Jin Yan leaned toward Mommy Jin. At home, her mom was the most gentle, her grandpa spoiled her the most, and her dad... well, he was the most serious one, and when he put on that stern face, Jin Yan didn’t dare meet his gaze.

"Sweet talking won’t help."

Mommy Jin held Jin Yan’s hand and asked, "Tell me, where did he take you just now?"

Realizing she couldn’t dodge the question, Jin Yan touched her nose and quietly recounted where Lian Qingyang took her, and she even mentioned his proposal.

"Good, good, good."

Grandpa Jin repeated the word ’good’ three times and chuckled happily, "This lad has good taste. I knew my excellent granddaughter wouldn’t go unnoticed!"

"Yes, our Xiao Yan has finally found her happiness." Mommy Jin was genuinely happy for Jin Yan, aware of her daughter’s feelings. There were several times she wanted to talk to Lian Qingyang but held back.

Every generation has its own destiny. If this relationship is meant to be, it will be. If not, forcing it would never make it sweet.

"What’s so good about it?"

Mr. Jin said grumpily, "Just because he gave you a nice look and proposed, you’re this happy?"

Mr. Jin looked at Jin Yan with frustration. His daughter was so outstanding, and though she didn’t attend university, she was no less accomplished than those who did. From a young age, she had been by Grandpa Jin’s side and had developed a keen sense for fashion design.

Especially after being with Tang Yue for so many years, the entire Jin family wore clothes designed by Jin Yan herself, making Mr. Jin immensely proud.

However, a couple of years ago, he found out that his daughter secretly liked Lian Qingyang, which didn’t sit well with him. He wanted to confront Lian Qingyang, questioning why he had to take away the daughter he had raised.

Later, learning that Lian Qingyang wasn’t interested in his daughter made Mr. Jin feel that Lian Qingyang lacked good judgment.

Mr. Jin tried to arrange blind dates for his daughter. With such an outstanding daughter, there were many suitors at the door.

But Jin Yan refused, and finally, after discussing with Mommy Jin, they agreed to give her a few years.

Several years had gone by, and just when Mr. Jin had managed to convince Jin Yan to agree to a blind date, which he thought was a perfect match—a university professor whose family had been friends with theirs for generations—it was ruined by Lian Qingyang.

"Dad." Jin Yan pursed her lips and quietly scooted closer to Mr. Jin, gently coaxing, "Dad, I haven’t agreed yet."

"Really didn’t agree?" Mr. Jin asked skeptically.

Jin Yan nodded confidently, raising her hand to swear, "Dad, I’m telling the truth; I really haven’t agreed."

"Why didn’t you agree?" Mommy Jin anxiously asked, having eagerly awaited this moment for Jin Yan to receive Lian Qingyang’s proposal, only to hear her refusal.

Grandpa Jin sat quietly, observing Jin Yan’s expression. Seeing the smile on her face, he knew she was genuinely happy inside.

"Why should she agree?" Mr. Jin glared at her.

Mommy Jin glared back at him fiercely, toning down Mr. Jin’s voice considerably.

Mommy Jin earnestly said, "Xiao Yan, I hope you decide to marry not because of any pressure from us, but because you both truly love each other."

"No way is anyone marrying my daughter." Mr. Jin muttered quietly. Despite his stern face, he was ineffective against Mommy Jin. He sighed, feeling that after raising his daughter to this age, some young lad would take her away. If someone wants to marry Xiao Yan, they must pass through many hurdles.

"Do you want your daughter to never marry?" Mommy Jin glanced at Mr. Jin, who raised his hands in surrender, saying, "Alright, alright, I won’t say anything, okay?"

Mr. Jin pressed his lips into a tight line.

"Mom, I don’t want to get married yet." Jin Yan playfully leaned into Mommy Jin’s arms, her beautiful eyes smiling as she looked at Mr. Jin.

Jin Yan’s features resembled Mommy Jin’s closely; they looked like sisters.

Mr. Jin watched his wife and daughter with pride, listening attentively to their conversation.

Mommy Jin, full of motherly affection, said, "Silly girl, what girl doesn’t plan to get married?"

"I want to spend more time with you." Jin Yan said sweetly.

Mommy Jin: "Xiao Yan, be honest, why didn’t you agree?"

"I..." As Jin Yan began to speak, looking into Mommy Jin’s eyes, she couldn’t express the reasons she had prepared and instead leaned into her shoulder, lowering her gaze and saying, "I’m afraid he proposed impulsively, and besides, I haven’t even dated yet, how can I jump straight into marriage?"

"Exactly, exactly," Mr. Jin agreed, then covered his face, blinking and signaling with his eyes to Mommy Jin that he wouldn’t speak again.

Mommy Jin stroked her long hair, saying, "Xiao Yang, I’ve come to know him well too; he’s not an impulsive person."

If he were truly impulsive, with his status, he would have a long line of girlfriends, but Lian Qingyang keeps himself clean, never having a single girlfriend. Whether at work or at home, he never behaves ambiguously with other women.

Mommy Jin liked Lian Qingyang as a potential son-in-law and had met Zhang Hualian several times, who always praised Xiao Yan. Moreover, Tang Yue and his wife were deeply in love, and marrying into such a family would ensure Xiao Yan’s happiness.

The only mismatch between the Jin and Lian families would be their backgrounds. The Lian Family had a vast business empire, successful in both Sea City and Jing City. Even Lian Qingyang’s own company, Xincheng Computer, was very successful. While the Jin Family was well-off, compared to the Lian Family, they were like dwarves before giants.

"Mom, I think it’s better to wait and let him think it over." Jin Yan feared this was just a dream, an illusion that would vanish when daylight came.
