Chapter 1015 - 1019: This Is Truly a Timely Rain
Yunyi knew that when Camp Commander Feng returned and got the news, he must have been extremely worried. Not being able to be by his wife’s side when something happened would certainly make him feel guilty, which was why he spoke like that.
She couldn’t help but look at Jiang Jingya.
Seeing her mother-in-law nod slightly at her, she said, "Alright, then I’ll accept these things. Just wait a moment while I clear out a cloth bag for you."
Camp Commander Feng didn’t think much of it. Seeing the things they were holding, he asked, "Are you setting up a coal stove?"
Wan Ruhua laughed, "Ah, this is perfect timing. If you’re not busy, help us set it up quickly."
Camp Commander Feng couldn’t refuse, so he hurriedly took the job.
Yunyi looked at the things in the cloth bag: two cans of malt essence, two bags of packaged milk powder, and two boxes of luncheon meat. She considered giving some of it to Camp Commander Feng to take back for Zhang Xue, but in the end, she gave up.
When she came back out, there was a ten-year-old ginseng in the bag. She had plenty of ginseng of this vintage in her storage, so she didn’t mind using it as a return gift; it was more than fitting.
With Camp Commander Feng’s help, the stove was quickly assembled and lit up.
Jiang Jingya helped fetch water for him to wash his hands: "Thank you so much. Without your help, we would have been busy for a long time."
Camp Commander Feng waved his hand dismissively: "We’re neighbors, and besides, madam, you’ve been good to my family. If you need anything in the future, just call for me."
After saying this, he prepared to leave.
Yunyi handed over the cloth bag: "Camp Commander Feng, inside is a gift for Feng Xue. Please give it to her to keep."
Camp Commander Feng took the bag but didn’t feel any weight difference, so he didn’t think much of it: "Alright, madam, I’ll hand it over to her when I get back."
Wan Ruhua stayed a while longer: "It’s getting late, I should head back."
As she left, she called out to her son: "Xiaowei, I’m going back, are you coming with me or not?"
Yunyi quickly went into the house and came out with half a pack of milk candies: "Come, come, you all really helped madam just now. Madam will share some candies with you."
Wan Ruhua smiled broadly: "They just carried one smokestack each, but it was a big help. Only you would spoil them like this."
Yunyi handed out the candies, laughing: "Without their help, it would have been hard to bring it back. It was indeed a big help."
Yuan Zining and his friends each got a small handful of milk candies, and they all smiled happily, saying in unison, "Thank you, Auntie/Madam."
Wan Ruhua saw how much Yunyi gave them: "Oh my, just one or two pieces would have been fine. Why give them so many?"
Yunyi smiled at the kids and said, "Only one piece a day, eating too many will spoil your teeth, remember that, okay?"
The little ones replied readily, but whether they would remember was another question.
Having gotten the candies, they didn’t stay any longer. They quickly ran off with Sister-in-law Lü, who was heading home.
Jiang Jingya checked the time: "Yiyi, I’m going to make a call."
Just as she was about to make the call, the driver who had originally brought her returned, accompanied by a middle-aged woman: "Auntie Jiang, this is Sister-in-Law Su, sent by my grandfather."
No further explanation was needed, Jiang Jingya understood immediately: "This really is a timely help. Xiao Jin, please thank your grandfather for me."
Geng Zejin nodded: "Auntie Jiang, if you need anything, just call. I’m leaving now."
Jiang Jingya knew that anyone sent to her by Uncle Geng was reliable: "Sister-in-Law Su, can I call you that?"
Sister-in-Law Su waved her hand: "Before I came, Old Master Geng already said you’re three years older than me."
