Chapter 485: Confronting People Directly

Chapter 485: Chapter 485: Confronting People Directly

She busied herself in the space for a good while. Drawing from the original owner’s memories, she made Mr. Chu’s favorite Three Fresh Ingredient dumplings.

She fried some peanuts and also prepared a bottle of Moutai she had previously stored from the supply and marketing cooperative. She picked a few oranges, apples, and bananas, placing them all in a basket; these items wouldn’t attract attention if taken out during winter.

Once everything was ready, she left the space.

However, she hadn’t even stepped out of the house when two uninvited guests arrived.

Seeing the Qin father and son standing outside the main gate, Yunyi couldn’t help but scorn them. She knew without asking why they had come,

but still deliberately asked, "Grandfather Qin, Uncle Qin, what brings you here?"

The expressions of the Qin father and son were somewhat awkward. After all, not much time had passed since Mr. Chu’s death, and the Qin family had broken off the engagement with the Chu family. Coming to plead now was truly inappropriate. However, they felt they had no choice, as Qin Lijuan, though a foster daughter of the Qin family, was still tied to them.

Old Master Qin knew the young lady before him was not to be underestimated. Thus, he got straight to the point. "We hurried over because we indeed have a request."

Upon hearing Old Master Qin’s words, Yunyi stepped aside. "Please come in first."

She wanted to see what they would say.

After leading them to the living room, she poured two glasses of water, placed them before the Qin father and son, and said, "Please have some water."

The moment they sat down, she took the offensive. "I didn’t expect you to be so well-informed. I had just returned, and you found your way here already. So, tell me, what is it?"

They were all intelligent people. Old Master Qin knew well that the Ye family certainly hadn’t kept Qin Lijuan’s actions a secret from her. "Yunyi," he said, "we only recently learned of what Qin Lijuan did. Regarding her mistakes, we are truly sorry."

Hearing this, Yunyi’s lips curled into a mocking smile. "’Her mistakes?’ Grandfather Qin, you seem to be using the wrong word. She didn’t make a mistake; she committed a crime. Even someone as unworldly as I understand this. Surely Old Master Qin wouldn’t be ignorant of that."

As soon as Old Master Qin heard Yunyi’s change of address, he knew things had gone awry; he had been too presumptuous. "A slip of the tongue, a slip of the tongue. What she did indeed broke the law."

Yunyi didn’t want to waste any more time with them. "Please state your business directly. What do you need from me?"

The Qin father and son exchanged troubled glances. Qin Hongling, the eldest of the Qin family, spoke up, "Yunyi, we know you are the victim, and we shouldn’t be approaching you. But what’s done is done. Even following due legal process can’t undo what has happened."

Yunyi’s expression darkened. "So, what are you suggesting? That I should let her off, as if nothing ever happened?"

Before the Qin father and son could say anything more, Yunyi retorted directly, "If I’m not mistaken, you are both Communist Party members, are you not? Where is your party spirit? With what kind of mindset do you come to me, the most innocent victim?"

Old Master Qin knew Yunyi was not simple, but he hadn’t expected her to speak so bluntly and sharply. "Yunyi," he said, "please don’t misunderstand. We have no other intentions."

Yunyi stood up, her face indifferent. "I’m sorry. I don’t think we need to continue this conversation. The law will determine Qin Lijuan’s guilt or innocence. I have neither the authority nor the desire to interfere. I suppose she never imagined that the arm of the law is long and justice will eventually be served."

Old Master Qin left the Chu family’s house, his face livid. They knew they shouldn’t have come. They never expected to be rendered speechless and humiliated by a junior.

Watching them depart, Yunyi rolled her eyes at their retreating figures. Truly shameless.
