Chapter 603: Delivering the Message
Chapter 603: Chapter 603: Delivering the Message
As soon as Yunyi arrived at the field headquarters, she saw Xiaoliu repairing a bicycle: "Director Liu, is Chief Qiao here?"
Xiaoliu looked up and saw it was Yunyi: "Oh, it’s Doctor Chu, the Commander is in the office. What do you need from him?"
Right after asking, he realized he was being nosy: "You can go in, Qiao Tuan is inside."
Yunyi just reached the office door and was about to enter when she remembered she still had a basket on her back. She quickly stepped back a few steps, set the basket aside, and then entered the office.
Qiao Shaoguo had already heard Yunyi’s voice and, thinking about the special circumstances of the past few days, stood up when he saw Yunyi coming in: "Yunyi, what brings you here?"
There were reasons related to the Ye Family, and also because Yunyi and his nephew got along well. Plus, Yunyi’s past heroic act of saving the cafeteria people and helping rescue hostages made Qiao Shaoguo regard her like his own junior.
Yunyi glanced inside the partition, saw no one, and then lowered her voice to explain the situation up on the mountain: "Qiao Tuan, it’s urgent. Please arrange it quickly and you have to personally notify the Public Security and the Armed Forces Department."
Qiao Shaoguo understood the seriousness of the matter: "Alright, I’ll go notify them right away."
As Yunyi left the headquarters, she happened to pass by the Zhiqing Point on her way back to the health clinic, so she took the opportunity to visit Wei Zijia’s dormitory. It would also help explain her hurried rush to the health clinic later.
Wei Zijia had just returned from work when she saw Yunyi coming over: "Yunyi, you’ve been such a help."
With matters weighing on her mind, Yunyi didn’t say much. She went inside and carefully checked the room’s condition, inspecting for a long time, and realized it was indeed as she thought—not fleas.
After all, the bumps on Wei Zijia were flat and large, whereas flea bites should be the size of a grain of rice, appearing in clusters, the bumps redder and with a noticeable central puncture.
Later, she found gnats in a bunch of flowers in a wicker basket against the wall. Gnats mostly inhabit shaded places like thickets and weeds. It seemed they had brought back branches with insect eggs when picking flowers, which was causing their trouble.
She pointed to the wildflowers in the wicker basket: "These flowers brought gnats back. Just dispose of them and sprinkle the insect repellent powder I gave you."
Wei Zijia leaned closer to take a look; there really were bugs, although she didn’t know what gnats were. She only knew that Qiao Xiaoxiao’s partner had given them to her a few days ago. To preserve them longer, he had even sent a jar to fill with water for the flowers, not expecting they’d be causing harm.
Since it had already happened, and they didn’t mean it, there wasn’t much else to say: "Thank you, Yunyi."
Seeing the problem solved, Yunyi waved her hand: "It’s nothing, as long as we found the cause. I’ll be leaving now."
Leaving the Zhiqing Point, she hurried to the health clinic, set the herbs to dry, and asked Sister Cui in logistics to keep an eye on them and help bring them in before sunset.
Only then did she head to Doctor Qiu’s office, whispering a few words to him before getting up and leaving the health clinic.
She didn’t want to wait anxiously at the clinic; she wanted to find Huo Jingrui, in case she could lend a hand if something happened.
She returned to her small courtyard, packed the pickles made in the kitchen a few days ago into her space, and then turned to head up the mountain.
As she made her way up the mountain, she multitasked, entering her space mentally to cook a pot of tea eggs in the stone house’s kitchen, thinking it would be handy for a quick nourishment in case she couldn’t come down from the mountain anytime soon.
