Chapter 486: A lost ’Traveler’ in a Forgotten World. Part-2.

Fade wanted to blame someone for his actions and get an excuse to validate his own ego, but he could not find anyone to blame.

His neglect caused his parent’s death; his own neglect caused him to not notice that the girl he liked and cared about was slowly succumbing to miasmic corruption.

He didn’t care about anything or anyone; he kept thinking that everything in the world was for his sake and nothing could go wrong at all.

He kept thinking that he was the ’chosen one’ and everything in the world would keep revolving around him.

The thought that his loved ones were suffering never even came to his mind as he was busy thinking about how to woo more girls and make a harem for himself.

He was busy thinking about how to take advantage of others and how to improve himself without needing too much effort.

His ’EXP’ gaining mechanism also works in a very selfish and cruel way.

A person does not simply just get stronger randomly and get his talent increased.

What actually is that so-called ’EXP’? Fade had asked that question to his system once.

And the answer was,

’EXP,’ or experience points, are the ’Destiny’ that is stolen from those he kills.

In other words, by killing someone or something, Fade could take their ’destiny,’ ’luck,’ and their life span, which they should have been able to live if he hadn’t killed them.

Fade could take all these things, and they were all collectively considered his ’EXP,’ which he could use to enhance his own ’Destiny,’ ’Luck,’ ’Life Span,’ and ’Strength.’

He was merely exploiting the lives of others to enhance his own existence.

The system is not omnipotent and omniscient after all; even the system needs to use some kind of ’resource’ or some kind of ’energy’ to help Fade improve.

And that energy was the price of others’ lives.

The so-called system is not a tool of a saint; it’s a life-harvesting mechanism that uses the strings of destiny as its way of cruelty.

Unlike Rio, who is an anomaly and is capable of interfering with the strings of destiny due to his capabilities as an exception.

The System works with the ’laws’ of the ’world’ itself, it bends the strings of destiny and creates a perfect plan for it’s host by manipulating the strings of destiny of others.

It makes others get killed an untimely death at the hands of the host and then uses their string of destiny to enhance its host.

Fade knew all this, but at that time, he was too busy caring about his own inflated ego and his endless hunger for strength, so he never cared about such details.

In fact, he was even more tempted to kill humans and other intelligent creatures after knowing about the actual mechanisms of the system.

After all, unlike monsters and beasts who barely have a mind and have a weak string of destiny, humans and others are intelligent beings, with each of them having a ’unique’ string of destiny.

In simpler words, you can get more ’EXP’ by killing humans of the same rank as a monster because they are more intelligent and more unique.

Fade was tempted to do something like that, but he always stopped because he felt that the time wasn’t right.

After all, there were people like Rio, Ashtel Rex, and other strong people in his way.

If he had decided to go on a killing spree, he would have received severe backlash, and he couldn’t have survived Ashtel Rex’s wrath.

Due to this reason, he decided that he will try risky things when he becomes stronger and has more leeway for mistakes.

In the original novel, why did Fade Crest grow up so fast?

Compared to the Fade Crest of the original novel, the current him is just a worm who hasn’t even learned how to crawl forward.

In the original novel, Ashtel Rex, Link, Raji Croft, and many other strong people died one by one, causing Fade to become free.

He could do whatever he wanted, and people had already crowned him as the ’Hero,’ so he could get away with anything, even if he used a city or two as his ’EXP’ farm.

He could just say that those cities were destroyed by demons, and no one would question him, as he could easily prevent anyone from knowing the truth.

With this much freedom, it’s possible to create hidden ’EXP’ farms where people could be kept in captivity and would then be used for the purpose of creating new life, which Fade could kill and farm ’EXP’ over and over.

Why do you think the original Fade Crest rose to rank SS so fast? Where do you think he found so much ’EXP’ despite the fact that the demon war only happened around the end stages of the novel?

It was obvious where he got it all; his fate was built on a pyramid of cruelty and oppression.

...

’Please... please let me die already... I have nothing to live for...’

Fade banged his head on the sand, but there was no one to give him salvation.

He realized his mistakes, but there was no one to acknowledge them. He finally came to his senses after doing many bad things, but there was no one he could ask for forgiveness either.

When he still had the chance to be better, he never became better, and now that he has lost the chance, he’s trying to acknowledge his mistakes. It’s truly ironic.

’How did I even end up in this place... I don’t want to be here at all...’

Dry winds carrying sand hit Fade over and over as if to slap his face with harsh reality, and Fade could do nothing against it.

He was blasted off to an unknown place and didn’t know what to do anymore; he couldn’t stop crying and couldn’t stop begging for salvation in this desperate moment.

Kira’s betrayal and his parents’ death kept flashing in his mind over and over, and he could find no salvation in this abyss of despair.

Although the heavenly luck has abandoned Fade, the world is not inherently a cruel existence.

It gives a final chance to everyone, even if they are far too deep into the abyss and are far too corrupted to be considered worthy.

Riko Embeth received a final chance to prove herself and get her revenge, and Jin Walt received a final chance to ascend higher and save his love.

The ’World’ decided to give a final chance to the broken soul that was already on the verge of endless despair.

*hhhhrrrrraaaaaaaaa!!!*

A powerful voice of a monster rang out, and a gigantic flying bird crashed down and hit the boulders on the ground.

Its entire body bent at various angles, blood and broken organs splattered everywhere as the gigantic bird instantly died on impact.

Just when Fade was shocked at this sudden change, three massive griffins came flying and descended from the sky, and the most surprising fact was that there were three half-orcs sitting on the backs of those griffins.

Those half-orcs were wearing primitive clothing and were carrying crudely made weapons.

They jumped down from the back of the griffins and rushed over to the giant bird’s side, and they immediately noticed Fade sitting nearby with his entire body covered in wounds.

The half-orcs all looked at each other and communicated with each other in some unknown language.

Just when Fade was feeling more and more anxious, he reached the verge of exhaustion due to crying and staying under the extreme heat of the sunlight and fainted on the spot.

His mind could not keep up with the sudden change, and he was out of energy.

The leader of the half-orcs saw this and finally came to an agreement with the other two and decided on something before heading towards Fade’s collapsed body.
