Chapter 488: Changes in the Strings of Destiny. Part-2.
Aurora bowed her head and was suppressed instantly.
A blurry shadow was standing in the direction she was bowing to. That dark shadow seemed extremely fragile, and it was even swaying like an unstable existence, which might break apart easily.
Yet, the aura it was emitting was horrifyingly powerful and strong.
’A projection... thankfully, he’s not here in person...’
Aurora heaved a sigh of relief in her mind after she noticed that shadowy figure.
Meeting the demon king in person is completely different compared to meeting his mental projection.
This blurry shadow-like figure is just a weak mental projection created by the demon king, and it’s already strong enough to suppress a peak S-ranker like her easily.
Meeting him in person can even cause mental breakdowns in weak people, and that’s the main reason why weaker demons don’t ever get to meet the demon king in person in their entire lifetime.
Just seeing him once can lead to serious mental damage and even mental collapse.
"I am no longer a demon... so I cannot stay in this place..."
Aurora slowly said those words with great difficulty, as it was really difficult to talk when she was already gasping for air due to that powerful suppression.
She tried to be as respectful as possible, as she would rather not offend the other party in the slightest.
Even if it’s just a simple projection, she knew better than anyone else just how powerful the demon king was.
She has visited the demon king along with Alverto many times and has even seen him in action.
Aurora knew that this is the same being who could go toe-to-toe with beings like ’Ashtel Rex’ and the dragon king.
It would be foolish to underestimate someone like him; perhaps his projection alone might obliterate her in a single breath.
That’s why it’s better to be careful.
"Hmm... Alverto. He really managed to achieve it... I cannot sense any miasma from you anymore... This powerful purification ability... it’s almost similar to what the legends say about ’Astra’..."
Once, Astra was the greatest nemesis of all demons; she could even purify peak S-rank demons, and even SS-rank demons were affected by her overwhelming purification powers.
Just her name alone was enough to induce nightmares in the demon race, as she used to work with King Allen.
She used to purify and weaken powerful demons, and then King Allen would finish them off instantly.
It was a tactic they both liked to use on the demon race a lot, and many SS-rank demons died to that same tactic in the demon extinction war.
Legends say that even the Demon King was killed off in a similar manner.
Obviously, the current demon king also knows about all these historical records, as the demon palace has a lot of historical records stored in it.
"He almost succeeded..."
The demon king’s voice became slightly surprised and slightly amused.
"No wonder... no wonder I felt that the strings of destiny were being tempered with... no wonder things keep going in a different trajectory than pre-determined..."
The Demon King’s projection suddenly looked towards the direction of the human continent and spoke in an amused tone,
"A new ’Anomaly’ has appeared in the world... no wonder Alverto failed despite reaching so close to victory..."
Aurora could not understand what the demon king was talking about or what an ’Anomaly’ was.
This is the first time she has heard about something like that.
Before she could ask anything, the demon king asked in a voice filled with curiosity.
"How many ’fragments’ did Alverto have before he tried that suic*de mission of his?"
"Don’t tell me he never told you about ’fragments’?"
Aurora was even more confused, and she shook her head at those words.
"I-I don’t know anything about that..."
The blurry shadow nodded its head and spoke in a calm tone.
"Well, he was type to not share his secrets with others; he must have thought that telling you would make things complicated..."
"But if he summoned the ’Spire of Ascension,’ he must have had at least three ’fragments’ on him..."
The blurry shadow stopped glancing in the direction of the human empire and glanced towards the sky.
Aurora did not know what he was looking at, but she instinctively felt that she shouldn’t ask about it.
"The ’Sea of Endless Miasma’ has changed again... things are moving faster than determined before... the destiny of the world has been changed in completely different direction..."
"I have decided... I will have to meet the source of this disturbance; I will need to confront that ’Anomaly’ myself..."
Aurora couldn’t put a finger to it, but she felt that the demon king was very amused by his own thoughts and was planning to do something.
She did not want to get involved in this trouble and just wanted to leave this place.
"I will not bring any harm to the demon continent; I will leave in silence... I ask for permission to leave..."
Hearing Aurora’s words, the blurry shadow sneered and said,
"You were already going to leave if I hadn’t come here; no need to pretend to ask for permission..."
"But it’s also true that by purifying you, Alverto has proved that his plan indeed had a ’possibility,’ even if it was just a slim possibility..."
Alverto’s plan included obliterating more than half the creatures of this world, but it indeed had a theoretical possibility of success.
Aurora is the living proof of that possibility; she survived, and her demonification was purified, making her become free of miasmic corruption.
"Go, I have a feeling that letting you go will bring a better outcome... the strings of destiny have changed; it’s better to work along with the new changes..."
The blurry shadow waved its swaying arm, and a powerful aura surrounded Aurora.
Not only did that aura completely conceal her presence, but it also lifted her from the ground and started working like a transportation carrier.
Aurora bowed deeply toward the blurry shadow as a gesture of thanks and farewell as the powerful aura took her away.
She flew at an extreme speed and shot towards a direction where humans and elves won’t be able to interfere with her life anymore.
Standing on the glacier, the blurry shadow watched her fly away as it whispered.
"A New Era is coming... the time of the great change is slowly approaching..."
"Rio Flash... The Rising ’Dark Star’?... I wonder what kind of new Era will you create for this universe..."
The Demon King’s voice carried solemnity and a chilling calmness.
"It’s always so amusing watching the dawn of a new beginning... I never get tired of it..."
