Chapter 518: Awake!

Rio rolled his eyes at Ashtel’s words and didn’t bother arguing with him.

"Talking about vacations... I really did not expect the situation to end up like that..."

"I had in fact accepted my death in that battle... little Riya saved my life along with the elven queen; I am quite grateful for that..."

Rio was surprised by Ashtel’s words.

"There was something so powerful that you nearly died from it? That’s unbelievable..."

Hearing Rio’s question, a look of hesitation and awkwardness appeared on Ashtel’s face as he scratched the back of his neck while smiling wryly.

"At that time... I was closest to death I have ever been; I never got beaten up that badly ever since I became an SS-ranker..."

Rio was even more shocked, and the teacup almost fell from his hand.

"You got beaten up!? You!? What!? Bullsh*t!"

It was almost near impossible to defeat Ashtel in a head-on battle unless the other party was someone with a world authority level way beyond him or was above the realm of SS-rankers.

Rio himself knew that he was also very very far away from reaching the level where he could confidently say that he could defeat someone like Ashtel Rex.

It’s simply unbelievable that someone beat him up and nearly killed him.

"Err... I didn’t get beaten up one-sidedly, you know... Hmm... how do I say... oh! Right, I managed to drag the opponent down with me to hell!"

"That’s the right statement... I was almost about to cross the gates of hell but then my cute daughter-in-law simply dragged me back to the world while the opponent couldn’t come back..."

Rio put away the teacup, and a serious look appeared on his face.

Rio had barely reached rank S back then and didn’t even have a solid foothold in the realm yet; he possibly wouldn’t have been able to withstand even a single blow from such a being even in a weakened state.

It was fortunate that Ashtel managed to deal with him.

"Who was this opponent-"

Just when Rio was about to ask Ashtel about the matter in detail, both of them suddenly sensed a familiar aura spread out, and they immediately rushed back to the hidden room where Ashtel and Jin were placed before.

The other sleeping beauty was about to wake up, so obviously they had to rush back.

Jin felt a terrible headache constantly hitting him hard in waves; he opened his eyes, and everything around him seemed blurry as if his eyes were having difficulty adjusting to the light.

"Ugh, my head... I feel like I have had the sh*ttiest hangover of my life..."

With a deep frown on his face and a hand rubbing his temples, Jin sat up from his bed.

His head was spinning, and it took his eyes a few seconds to adjust to the light in the room.

"This place is?"

Before Jin could understand anything, Anna, who was sitting beside him, suddenly started crying while smiling at the same time.

"Y-you... you are finally awake... You idiot! I was so worried about you! You absolute idiot! Why are you always like this! You are such a dumb man!"

Jin could not understand what was going on; Anna jumped on him like a lion and hugged him tightly with tears and snot all over her face.

"ahhhh, sob, sob... You are awake; I thought you would never wake up! I was so worried; I thought you were gone forever!"

Tears fell endlessly, and it took Jin quite a while to understand the situation as his memories slowly brought him back to his senses.

"Oh! I was fighting that d*mn Demon Prince! I think I lost to him... ugh, is this the afterlife?"

Jin had already sacrificed his everything and had even burned his soul by forcefully using the power of a law to deal tremendous damage to Alverto and cut his connection with the Spire of Ascension.

He himself knew that he likely didn’t have any chance of survival, and that’s why he could not comprehend the current situation.

"Idiot! Idiot! You dumb f*cker! This is not the afterlife! You are alive; you make me worry so much! Why did you have to go and do such a reckless thing!"

"You barely managed to survive! What would I have done if you were gone!"

Seeing Jin in that confused state, Anna cried even more as she spoke in a stuttering tone.

All the emotions, all the sadness, and all the helplessness from the past half a year had finally found a way out.

Anna remained strong and unbroken for the past half a year to keep herself from breaking apart, but today, things have changed.

Now that Jin has finally woken up, she can’t keep all these emotions hidden in her heart; she cried her heart out in Jin’s arms.

Jin hugged Anna into his arms as he tried to console her.

"Uh... Sorry, I was quite reckless... err... You know the type of guy I am; I am always quite reckless. you don’t have to be so worried, you know..."

Anna grabbed Jin’s shirt’s collar at those words and shouted with tears flowing from her eyes,

"I f*cking love you, idiot! How do you expect me not to worry about you!? How can you be so reckless all the time!!"

Jin was shaken by Anna’s resolve; he was shaken by her words.

It turns out, the time the two spent apart caused Anna to think everything through; she finally figured out her feelings and became capable of saying them out loud.

"Er... I-I love you too, you know..."

*Clap!* *Clap!*

Just when the two were fighting, other uninvited guests entered the room with wide grins on their faces.

"Finally, the day has come! Ah, we used to pray for times like this~"

"Congratulations on waking up, and accepting each other’s proposal too... I hope you get married soon!"

The first one was Raji; she clapped her hands while wiping non-existent tears from her eyes as if she was feeling proud that these two troublemakers were finally being honest with each other.

"Ahem, cough... this is the Rex Mansion; you two youngsters can go home first if you want to be so passionate about each other..."

"By the way, congratulations on waking up... Send a formal invitation to the Rex mansion when the date for the wedding is decided..."

Ashtel wasn’t too far off, and his words made the two lovebirds feel shy.

"Uh, congratulations on waking up, Professor Jin. I am glad you are okay..."

The last one was Rio.

Jin smiled at everyone’s congratulations and nodded his head as a greeting to each of them as he wiped Anna’s tears with the sleeves of his shirt.

"Truthfully speaking, I was not expecting to wake up again... but I am very thankful everyone; it must have been hard to heal me and bring me back from such a difficult situation..."

To those words, Ashtel shook his head and replied,

"Don’t worry about it; we have a very talented healer. there’s no way that proud girl would have allowed you to die a worthless death like that..."

Ashtel looked at Raji and Rio before saying,

"Err... I think we should give the two some space; they have a lot of things to discuss after all..."

With that said, Ashtel left, Raji nodded at Jin and Anna and left too, and finally Rio waved his hand to say bye-bye and gave them two some space to spend some alone time.

"So... How about a kiss first then?"

Seeing that Jin was still flirting in such a situation, Anna pouted her face and refused to talk to him.

"Hmph! Die, idiot, I don’t want to talk to you!"

To that, Jin could only smile wryly and scratch the back of his neck in awkwardness.
