Chapter 540: Aurora, the lazy fox. Part-2.

"Did the demon king order you to do anything for him in return for letting you go free?"

Rio refused to believe that the demon king would have helped Aurora out of kindness.

He’s the king of ’demons’ for a reason; he didn’t even come to save his own child when Rio caused Alverto’s death.

In other words, it’s highly likely that he had a motive to send Aurora to this place.

"I don’t know about it... He was surprised that Alverto’s plan worked out and I became free of miasma’s constraints... aside from that, I don’t know..."

Aurora had crossed hell to reach this place, Alverto had sacrificed his life to save her, and she didn’t want to get involved in any more conspiracies in the future, so she told the truth.

’He found it surprising that Alverto succeeded?... Does that mean he never believed from the beginning that Alverto would succeed?’

Rio felt as if the demon king’s reaction was almost identical to Rio’s own when he first noticed Aurora.

Aurora was originally heavily corrupted with the power of that cosmic being.

And Rio had thought that after dealing with Alverto, Aurora might come to take revenge on him someday.

But she never came to attack him in the past few months, which made him confused.

And today, just when he was heading towards the spirit realm, he met her on the way.

’The dwarf kingdom really is a mysterious place; there are so many things going on here...’

Rio shook his head and stopped thinking about the matter.

He knew that it was pointless to try to predict what the demon king was thinking, as that was a very unpredictable, bizarre person.

Rio didn’t want to get involved with him so early.

’I need to reach the rank SS first... after that I will go and pay him a visit in person...’

Just when Rio was about to leave, Aurora mustered her courage and asked with a pleading look on her face,

"C-can! Can you tell me what Alverto was like in his final moments?"

Aurora knew that the entire ’Spire of Ascension’ had exploded and there were no traces of Alverto left in the world; even his equipment and artifacts were reduced to dust along with his corpse.

There was only one person who got to witness Alverto’s final moment, and that was Rio.

Hearing Aurora’s plea, Rio took a deep sigh and spoke in his usual emotionless voice.

"He was a valiant ’hero’ until his last breath. He kept fighting for his race like a ’Protector’ until the end."

Rio had seen Alverto’s memories; he was greatly in love with Aurora, and it would be unfair to tell Aurora that Alverto had been forced to insanity in his last moments.

Just as Rio was afraid of Lia feeling disappointed in him, he knew that Alverto’s heart was just as fragile when it came to Aurora.

Rio had no grudges with Aurora, so he didn’t mind talking to her.

"But don’t be stuck in the past... he likely wanted you to live a happy life in the future; don’t try to walk on the wrong ’path,’ and don’t try to take revenge on me or you will waste the possibility that Alverto sacrificed his life for..."

Rio’s words made Aurora understand that Alverto wanted her to move on in life and spend her time freely.

She nodded her head, and just as she was about to thank Rio, she noticed that Rio’s figure blurred and he disappeared instantly.

His presence was gone, and it seemed as if he had never even existed.

"Insane..."

That was the only word that could describe Rio’s strength; Aurora could not even fathom exactly how strong Rio was.

’So, you fought a monster like this, Alverto?... Sigh, why were you so reckless...’

Although Rio told Aurora about Alverto’s final moments, she didn’t consider Rio a good person.

As a former high-rank demon who has lived among demons for a long time, she has seen many powerful and cruel monsters and demons before.

But even among demons and monsters, there were no people as ’emotionless’ and ’bizarre’ as Rio.

Only after she was done thinking things through did she remember she had thrown her coffee cup on the ground and it had broken into pieces.

"Ugh! That one was my favorite! I hate that weirdo! My coffee is gone because of him now, ugh!"

Aurora rubbed her temples to stop the headache and started cleaning up the area.

After cleaning up, she leaned her back on the bench while sitting.

’Ugh, I don’t feel like moving at all... I feel so lazy...’

While sitting, her eyes fell on her tail, and she noticed that her fur was in a mess.

"Oh no! That weirdo saw me in my morning look! I hadn’t even combed my hair!"

Thinking about this matter, Aurora felt like a complete idiot!

"I should change my house, yes! I will go somewhere so secluded that no one will disturb me!"

Aurora felt motivated at that thought, but then her confidence disappeared just as fast when she thought that she had no other place to go.

’Ugh, I haven’t even properly explored the world... all I did was stay in the secret base all the time and observe everything around while waiting for Alverto to come back...’

Aurora has always been a salted fish who didn’t like wandering around and exploring new places.

All she did was just stay in one place lazily for a long time.

’Ugh, I just got used to living here and now I have to leave... sigh, I feel so tired just at the thought of moving...’

Aurora shook her head, got herself to move, and started packing her things.

Rio had already warned her to leave this cabin, as it was involved with an SS-ranker, and she didn’t want to get discovered by powerful people, so she had no choice but to move.

She herself had fox-like features, so she might be able to live there more peacefully.
