Chapter 550: It won’t go your way.

Raika didn’t find Rio’s words offensive at all; it seemed as if he had infinite patience, and a smile hung on his pretty face at all times.

He got up and walked towards the ruins and stood a few meters away from Rio.

Now the two were facing in opposite directions; Rio was looking at the sword of promised destinies while Raika was looking at the ruined temple as he asked with a teasing tone,

"Look at this ruin, look at the state of the beings in this place... look at the corruption and destruction spreading everywhere..."

"It’s all caused by arrogance and selfishness, but someone like you who can control miasma can correct them..."

"You have the power to do this, don’t you, Rio? Why not save them if you have the power to do so? Are you sure you will let them stay like that?"

Rio didn’t change his expression at those questions as he replied in his usual emotionless tone,

"I am not a ’hero,’ and I am not obliged to save anybody; It’s none of my business..."

"I do consider their suffering regretful but I am not obliged to destroy my own ’path’ for others’ sake..."

"You yourself are quite strong; why not save them yourself instead of lecturing me about it?"

Raika giggled a bit at Rio’s words.

"You are saying it as if I haven’t tried it... you are naïve... I have tried everything; I couldn’t do it because I am not able to control ’miasma’ after all..."

"You can control it and only can do it; you are the most qualified to walk the ’path’ of a ’hero’ in the entire ’universe,’ you know..."

"Am I wrong, Rio Flash?"

Rio’s eyes narrowed at that question, and he turned his face towards Raika as the other party also did the same.

"How do you know my name? I never told you my full name..."

Rio felt extremely strange interacting with this stranger; the other party seemed as if he knew a lot about Rio.

He seemed like he was very knowledgeable about Rio’s past and everything, and his tone seemed quite confident when he said that Rio could be a ’hero’ of the world.

It was almost as if Raika was aware of Rio’s immense potential.

"I am aware of many things in the universe... trust me, I know more about this universe than anyone can possibly know... except the ’creator’ of this universe itself, I guess..."

Raika replied to Rio’s question with a very vague answer, but Rio felt extremely confused about the identity of this stranger.

’First it was Alverto, and now this guy... what’s going on! The entire novel’s plotline has gone off the track...’

Alverto was also a character Rio never saw in the original novel, and the same was true about this stranger who’s calling himself Raika.

Rio had never heard the name Raika before, but the other party seemed to know a lot about Rio for some reason.

If it was an S-ranker, Rio would have already killed the other party by now; if it was an SS-ranker, Rio would have escaped by now.

But the biggest problem was that Rio didn’t know how powerful this unknown stranger was and what he actually was.

"Well, we will have many chances to interact as long as you are in the spirit realm!"

With that said, Raika disappeared from Rio’s sight.

It was as if he had never existed in the first place and he was never there to begin with; he disappeared completely in an instant!

When Rio uses light elementals to hide his presence, it’s obvious some mana fluctuations happen when he activates that ability and starts controlling the light elementals in the area.

Even when you are teleporting, you need to manipulate the space-time fabric, use the space and time elementals to your will, and precalculate the time and location where you want to teleport.

Obviously, it’s a skill whose mana fluctuations Rio’s sword intent would easily notice.

Rio vented his tension and pressure on the cube to relax his tensed nerves from the confrontation with Raika.

Rio shook his head and looked at the sky.

The miasmic clouds in the sky had become denser at some point, and it started raining soon.

This wasn’t an ordinary rain; it was literal miasmic corruption raining from the sky in condensed liquid form!

Even SS-rankers would have found it difficult to resist this kind of situation; thankfully, Rio was completely unaffected by miasma.

He followed the direction given by the cube and started walking towards his next destination without a shred of hesitation in his eyes.

Rio knew that shadow dragons were the ones that were banished to this place, and if the other party wasn’t a demon, there was a high chance that Raika was likely a powerful and old shadow dragon.

Moreover, he even acknowledged that he knew the location of the shadow dragons in the spirit realm, which makes him even more suspicious.

’Don’t tell me... is he trying to influence me to unseal him or something?’

’Well, if they were banished by a seal, that seal might have been corroded by miasma after staying here for so long... and he knows that I can manipulate miasma so perhaps he wants me to break the seal and free all of the shadow dragons from the spirit realm?’

Rio wasn’t sure about anything, but he was very good at guessing and making plans ahead of time, so he was mentally preparing himself right now.

’If that is the case... My mission to help Liam might become more difficult than I expected... i might even have to fight an entire army of shadow dragons trying to force me to use my powers...’
