Chapter 556: The Unstoppable Bard. Part-1.
While experimenting continuously, Rio walked for three days straight; he crossed thousands of kilometers of area while flying at a moderate speed.
As he was causing massive explosions everywhere, there was no way he could keep his stealth up anymore, so he stopped bothering to walk and started flying at a relatively moderate speed.
His destination was very far away, and it was impractical to keep walking anymore, so he decided to fly instead.
’Ugh... this place is so repulsive; I already want to leave...’
It’s already been four days since Rio entered the spirit realm, and with each passing minute, he ends up encountering some new kind of weird and repulsive-looking monstrosity.
There were weird creatures that seemed to have no bones in their bodies, and they were crawling on the ground while crying endlessly.
There were bizarre-looking demonized dogs twisted in the shape of ’8’ and jumping up and down like a football to move; with each jump their body would puncture and spill miasma and then heal again before they could die.
There were crocodile-shaped creatures pumped with so many souls inside their bodies that they were floating in the air just from the inflated soul power in their bodies.
When Rio tried to get a closer look, it blew apart and splattered its sticky blood all over the place, making Rio feel disgusted.
Rio had to dip himself in a pond of miasma to clean the non-existent filth from his body.
And these were just the ones that Rio personally examined from up close; there were dozens of other bizarre creatures too, but Rio didn’t have the time to stop and observe them properly before they blew apart.
Rio tried to use the soul-stealing skill on other evil spirits after his first success, but he failed.
It turned out that Miasma had noticed that Rio was able to take advantage of this ’glitch,’ and thus the ’glitch’ was removed.
Now whenever Rio tried to get too close to any monster or evil spirit, they just blew apart on their own before he could even do anything.
Thus, Rio had no other choice but to observe things from far away so that he could gather some relevant data.
’Err... with how loud I have been lately, I am sure something big will happen sooner or later but I can’t afford to stop experimenting either...’
As long as a random powerful SS-ranker does not get attracted to Rio’s side, he is not going to stop messing around.
Rio can’t practice his miasma-related skills properly in the outside world.
Just using miasma on those criminals got Rio a lot of bad reputation; even though they were such bad criminals, there were quite a few radical people who wanted to support them.
Rio wasn’t a law enforcement officer or a cop or anything like that, so many argued why he was carrying out such brutal and inhumane acts when the law and judgement of criminals should be handled by courts.
There were some people who were even trying to file cases against Rio, but the situation in the nation was desperate at the time, so Raji suppressed them all for Rio.
But if it were normal times, no one could have stopped those people from filing cases against Rio and wasting his precious time.
This is the main reason why Rio can’t afford to train his miasma too much in the outside world.
It’s a power that can easily cause misunderstanding, and even Raji, Ashtel, and others get a bit hesitant when the topic of Rio using miasma is mentioned.
The spirit realm is the best place for Rio to train his miasma-related skills.
’If possible, I want to have a permanent method of entering inside the spirit realm... but I don’t want to stay here for too long either...’
The spirit realm is indeed an ideal place for Rio to train, but it’s not an ideal place to stay for long periods of time, and it’s definitely not a place where you can relax.
You never know what might happen next in this weird place.
Rio even saw an SS-rank evil spirit in the shape of a worm eating itself continuously and rampaging everywhere.
Thankfully, Rio was very good at being stealthy; he bypassed it and then continued his tests and experiments without getting detected.
*BOOOOOM!!!*
"Ugh! Another failure!... sigh..."
Making an artificial and stable miasmic crystal was very difficult; you had to keep suppressing every single strand of miasmic energy individually and hold them in position until the entire crystal was built.
And according to Rio’s estimates, he needed at least a few million strands of miasmic energy to make a fingernail-sized miasma crystal of the lowest grade.
’Well, compared to the first try when I was only able to keep half a million strands stable at one time, I have reached a million now...’
’My miasma control has also improved tremendously; at the current rate of improvement, I will be able to create my first artificial crystal in a month at least...’
SS-rankers can also do similar things and can easily create mana crystals, but there’s only Rio who’s trying to do this with miasma.
Creating condensed crystals is a very complex task, and if you can create high-grade ones, then you would already be stepping into the realm of demi-gods!
’When I am able to create high-grade miasma crystals, I would be just one step away from the next realm... the realm of demi-gods!’
While testing and flying, Rio reached a cliff and had to stop and land on it because his way forward was blocked.
’What the heck is going on here?’
Confusion appeared on Rio’s face as he looked in front of him with bewilderment.
There was a massive barren plain in front of him, and there were hundreds and thousands of different kinds of monstrosities fighting each other on that massive plain.
Rio looked up, and the entire sky was covered in gigantic and bizarre flying creatures battling each other.
There were hundreds of those weird creatures that Rio had seen before, and they were all either biting or scratching each other, or they were ramming their bodies against each other!
’A battlefield?... why are they fighting each other at such a massive scale...’
Rio looked at the gigantic army of monsters and frowned when he noticed that there were dozens of S-rankers, thousands of A-rankers, and more than forty thousand lower-rank monsters and evil spirits!
All of them were fighting each other to death!
All of them were blasting out powerful mental waves in all directions, and those waves of combined mental waves were so strong that the entire ground was falling apart.
The space-time fabric was cracking; the flow of miasma was going chaotic, and the spatial fluctuations in the area were rampaging continuously, killing hundreds in seconds!
Rio narrowed his eyes and looked at the sky, and there were hundreds of spatial cracks and portals throwing out monstrosities in the area to make things even more chaotic and horrific.
Just when Rio was getting more and more confused, the flow of miasma suddenly changed, and hundreds of thousands of monsters tilted their heads at the same time and stared at the hill far away.
Rio immediately got goosebumps all over his body as he sensed such intense and concentrated killing intent from the army of monsters.
There were hundreds of thousands of monsters, and they were all staring at Rio with immense hatred and killing intent, making all of his alarms of danger react at the same time.
Rio’s hand subconsciously went for the flute hanging around his waist as he spoke in a mocking voice.
"Oi oi... I did create a bit of chaos in the spirit realm, but do you really need all that just for me?..."
As Rio brought out his flute and took his stance, all the monsters and evil spirits started rushing toward him at the same time.
"I would have happily accepted this free gift if I had enough time to waste here... if it was any other time and I wasn’t busy, I would have loved to wait continuously fight..."
"But today I don’t have that much time and I am not really in the mood to do a drawn-out battle right now..."
"So, I will have to break through your formation swiftly!"
Without the slightest hesitation in his eyes, Rio swung his flute downwards.
[Sword Intent!]
[Elemental Sword Art: Space Type: Spatial disorder!]
Rio used the spatial fluctuations to create powerful gravitational waves in the weak space-time fabric of the spirit realm and sent them in the direction of the massive monster army.
It was a copied skill that Rio took from Ashtel’s world authority, ’Shockwave,’ and it was so powerful that it sent the space-time fabric into chaos!
The gravitational waves blasted many of the monsters into random directions, and some were even blown apart on the spot; this completely messed up their weak formation.
It was like throwing a stone in the water; the waves created by the impact messed up the entire army, making things more advantageous for Rio.
Seeing the situation, Rio grinned and launched towards the monster tide with a smirk on his face.
"Here I come! Stop me if you can!"
