Chapter 587: I Know What To Do... Part-1.

The cage that had kept Ellie confined for a millennium was shattered and half-broken when Raika blew Rio away with such force that the space-time fabric collapsed and Rio flew right outside.

That attack alone was so powerful that Ellie felt chills run down her spine.

*COUGH!* *COUGH!!!*

The moment the giant cage was damaged, it brought indirect damage to Ellie’s body, and she collapsed on her knees as she started coughing up large amounts of blood on the spot!

Her eyes went bloodshot, and she felt as if her head was spinning and her mind was collapsing; it was a horrible experience.

The grand cage was connected to the grand seal on the giant door leading to the Sea of Endless Miasma, and since Ellie had merged herself with the seal to survive in the spirit realm, all damage to the seal would also be reflected back to her!

The breaking of the giant cage caused massive damage to Ellie, and her life force plummeted as the grand seal became weaker!

Even before the breaking of the cage, Ellie was already in a perpetual corruption and purification phase; she would constantly get corrupted and purified at the same time.

Due to this, despite being a peak S-rank shadow dragon, she was not physically strong, her life was tied to the grand seal, and she had no powerful attack skills either.

She wasn’t called the shame of the entire shadow dragon race for a reason; unlike her father, she was not a monstrous talent, she was just an ordinary weak shadow dragon who couldn’t even use dragon bloodline magic.

Just surviving till now was already a big feat; there was no way she could deal with a powerful foe like Raika at all.

Rio did tell her that he will help distract Raika and she should think about countermeasures in the meantime, but the problem was that Ellie had no abilities that could deal with such a powerful person.

Raika was giving a hard time to even Rio!

The same Rio who was obviously the strongest and most talented person in their team ’Astra,’ was having a hard time dealing with Raika!

This clearly meant that she by herself was no match for Raika at all!

’Think, Ellie, think! What do I do?’ What can I do to save Liam? I must do it fast!’

Ignoring her own internal injuries and the blood flowing from the corner of her mouth, Ellie stood up with a look of determination on her face!

Although her body was trembling from the weakened and injured vitality, she stood straight with sheer determination and grit!

’I can’t let Liam die or be taken away... I must do something; if I don’t do it, who will?...’

The face of that purple-haired young boy, always smiling and taking care of her, flashed in Ellie’s head as she clenched her small fists so much that they started bleeding!

Ellie looked at her arms, which were fair and spotless just a while ago; now they were covered in dark black spots all over!

Not just her arms, but strange dark patterns were starting to appear on her entire body, and they were expanding at a very fast pace!

Seeing this situation, Ellie knew what was happening: the grand cage was shattered, and massive damage had been caused to the stability of the grand seal!

Although breaking the seal completely was impossible with just this much power, the outer layers of the seal could still be heavily damaged.

And the outer layers of the seal were the ones that Ellie had merged herself with!

As the giant cage broke, miasma rushed in with a much higher momentum, slowly corrupting the outer layers of the grand seal, and the seal was reflecting the same decay and corruption in Ellie’s direction too!

The purification magic of the grand seal was the strongest around the core seal areas; the rest of the outer seals were weaker in terms of purification powers!

’This is not good...’

Ellie looked at the broken cage as she gritted her teeth; she could sense with her shadow element control that Rio and Raika were stuck in a battle.

Although Rio suffered a bit at first, he soon adapted to the situation and started fighting Raika on equal grounds!

[I don’t think I can keep up with this guy for too long! And it seems I can’t forcefully take Liam back from him either...]

[That weird lyre of his is not something I can destroy with my current strength...]

Just when Ellie was getting confused about what to do next, Rio’s voice rang out in her head through long-range telepathy.

While fighting Raika, Rio had become aware of the fact that Raika was just a projection, and it was pointless to try to kill him or defeat him, as he could just come back to full health without much of a problem.

For the time being, Rio couldn’t find any possible methods to permanently deal with Raika; thus, he decided to contact Ellie and tell her about this matter.

Hearing Rio’s words, Ellie felt even more disheartened.

Ellie has been on many adventures with Team Astra, and she knows full well that Rio is the type of guy who wouldn’t admit defeat or say that he was incapable of doing something unless it was really impossible for him.

Usually, he has many types of skills in his arsenal to deal with all kinds of situations, and even if he doesn’t have them, he can still create new ones to adapt to the situations.

But if even he can’t deal with some situation, it means that the problem is really out of the entire group’s reach.

Ellie gritted her teeth as she walked back and forth around the giant door located on the giant hill, which was still unaffected by Rio and Raika’s devastating battle!

The battle between Rio and Raika was getting more and more intense with each passing second, and every single clash of theirs would create powerful shockwaves in the area, and new spatial cracks would open every single time!

With the intensity of the battle being so high, Ellie knew that Rio and Raika were now stuck in a stalemate!

Ellie had to find some way to break this stalemate and bring the victory to her side if she wanted to save Liam.

’What do I do! What do I do!? Ugh!’

Ellie messed up her hair trying to think of some kind of solution to break the stalemate and rescue Liam, but she could not think of anything.

’I can’t do the reverse-summoning again, as Liam and I are both in the same realm right now! Moreover, I have already done it once!’

’It will damage his soul if it tried to do it again!’

Reverse-summoning is a phenomenon a powerful summoned beast can use to summon back their master to their side in case of danger, but it can only be performed once in the entire lifetime of the summoner.

Reverse-summoning summons the summoner’s soul to the spirit realm and places a tremendous burden on the soul; if used more than one time, the best-case scenario would be to survive with permanent soul damage.

And the worst-case scenario would be the total annihilation of the soul due to not being able to survive the burden!
