Chapter 610: S-rank Dungeon, A Forgotten Nation. Part-5.
"T-that’s... some really unique way of using a sword art... no, can this even be called a sword art?"
"Aren’t you just swinging the sword around at random without the use of any elemental or any type of skill at all? It’s just brute strength at play!"
Lia was truly baffled by James’s way of fighting; it was like a martial artist was handed a sword and told to fight with it, and thus he was just swinging it around with force alone!
’I guess he awakened to the wrong class... he should have been a martial artist instead of being a swordsman...’
Seeing Lia shake her head in dismay, James smiled awkwardly and replied,
"Of course I don’t just use brute strength! I will show you my precision skills if you want!"
Lia just shook her head and started walking while ignoring,
"Forget it, I have seen enough of it. Rio is better at sword skills anyways; I will learn about it from him instead. just take me to the dungeon already..."
Hearing Lia’s words, James deflated like a leaking balloon and led the way forward while holding his sword with both hands and saying,
"Sigh... am I really that bad at sword art... sigh... Kids these days are so mean; my fragile heart has been damaged severely... sigh..."
Lia rolled her eyes seeing that big muscular man sulk like a kid and pretend to be wronged.
It was especially funny that such a big muscular dude was claiming to be so easily hurt.
Walking on the plateau, the two of them arrived at the edge, and James flew in the air as he spoke.
"We need to cross this lava pool to go to that tunnel on the other side... do you need me to carry you?"
Hearing the question, Lia shrugged her shoulders.
"I can fly too you know..."
[Divine Spirit’s Blessing: Wings of Light!]
Two fairy wings appeared behind Lia’s back and lifted her off the ground in an instant.
The bright light from the wings purified the air around Lia and made the poisonous gases in the area disappear upon contact with the wings!
Unlike other awakeners who needed to reach S-rank before becoming capable of flight, Lia was already able to fly before she even became an A-ranker!
Seeing Lia fly on her own, James shook his head and kept sulking.
’Sigh... my daughter hates me...’
The two of them crossed the massive lava pool by flying above it and avoiding that boiling hot lava that was constantly making bubbles and sizzling noises.
While flying above the lava, Lia got to see many kinds of creatures swimming and living inside the lava.
Some would jump out momentarily like fishes and then jump back in right away.
Some were floating on the surface, and some were hidden underneath, while only a few of their scales remained visible on the surface.
There were lava crocodiles and lava lizards everywhere; it was a complete ecosystem filled with all kinds of organisms.
As mana is present everywhere in the world, many creatures have evolved to become accustomed to extreme environments using mana, and some are so efficient that they don’t even need to breathe!
They can rely on the elementals in the surroundings along with mana to sustain themselves and thus don’t need to breathe or eat at all!
These kinds of creatures are rare, but quite a few of them still exist in this magical world.
Lia had studied about all kinds of monsters that were often found in the world and the dungeons in her three years of academic life; thus, she was not surprised that there were so many varieties of monsters living in this single lava pool.
Moreover, since Lia’s sword art was focused on targeting monsters’ weaknesses heavily, she was the one in Team Astra who was most knowledgeable about monster physiology.
Although she hadn’t seen these lava monsters ever before, she knew their weaknesses and their characteristics, as she had already studied about them beforehand.
Only Riya might be able to compete with Lia when it came to monster physiology, as her work as a healer also involved knowing a lot about the body functions of all kinds of races in the world.
Despite being a total airhead in all kinds of matters, Riya is a top-notch expert in the field of medicine.
’Healing magic... technically... I should also be able to use a little bit of healing magic if I master spirit magic better...’
Lia, being a master of a divine spirit, has the potential to use the power of her spirit to heal herself and others with spirit magic; it’s just that she hasn’t mastered it yet.
"Look, that’s the checkpoint; after we cross it, we can enter the tunnel that will lead us directly to the dungeon..."
Just when Lia was busy thinking about various things in her mind, James’s voice snapped her out of her daze, and she noticed that James was pointing his finger to a stone gargoyle statue stationed near the tunnel entrance.
When James and Lia landed near the entrance, the gargoyle’s eyes lit up with a green light, and it scanned James’s aura fluctuations!
[Scanning For Illegal Entrance... Scan Complete! Match found!]
[Welcome back, Master James!]
"This gargoyle was placed here by me as a guard for the dungeon entrance. The dungeon ahead has been claimed by me as a private property of the Silver Family and the Silver Shadow Guild..."
"Thus, only the people from the Silver Family or the top members of our guild can access this dungeon..."
While talking, James led Lia inside the wide tunnel that seemed to be artificially made with great craftsmanship.
"I came across this dungeon in my younger days when I was on my training journey across the world!"
"This dungeon is very unique; every time you enter it, it always shows you a new and unique area inside!"
"I have come to a conclusion that this dungeon’s interior depends entirely on the person who wants to challenge it..."
James smiled at Lia as he said in a proud voice,
"In other words, this dungeon can mould itself according to what suits as the best challenge for the person entering it..."
"This is the best personal training ground that will be customized according to your personal characteristics..."
The tunnel leading to the dungeon was not too long, and both of them managed to pass it in just a minute or two while talking.
After exiting the tunnel, they arrived at a vast open area.
In a massive circular underground cavity, a gigantic dungeon gate floated in mid-air and spun at a constant rhythm.
Powerful spatial fluctuations blasted out from its spinning rhythm and carved the entire cave into a spherical hall!
James smiled and patted Lia’s head as he said in a smug tone,
"This is the best growth opportunity I can bestow upon you as your father, Lia... I promise you... once you exit this dungeon, you will be hundreds of times stronger than you are now!"
Lia smiled as her left hand unconsciously slid to the handle of her sword hanging near her waist as she looked at that massive dungeon gate.
As if resonating with her excitement, James introduced the dungeon to her.
"This is the S-rank dungeon called ’A Forgotten Nation’!...."
