The main reason Fade Crest eventually managed to defeat Ashtel Rex was because he fought a heavily nerfed version of Ashtel Rex whose ’Path’ had been destroyed.

His world authority was weakened, and his heart was shattered from the betrayal of his son.

By the time he fought Fade and his comrades, Ashtel was at his weakest point in life, as he had lost not just his dreams and his loved ones; he had lost everything!

The more Link watched the scene play out, the more perplexed he became, and panic settled in his heart.

As if ignoring Link’s predicament, the scene changed; the young Link found himself confronting Fade in a duel.

Everyone was cursing at Link and booing at him for even showing his face in the academy after what he had done.

By now, Link had become one of the most hated people in the entire nation, as his past sadistic tendencies had become even more intense and his behavior had gotten even worse.

"Today I will bring justice to this world by putting an end to the evil you have spread in this world, Link Rex!"

Fade, who was ushered in everyone’s praise and already had a harem of three girlfriends, smirked as he belittled Link in front of everyone.

And with Link already being out of his mind, he obviously couldn’t take those insults quietly.

The duel started right away, but to Link’s shock, Fade had already become extremely strong by now.

With Rio not being a part of this timeline, Fade managed to get all the powerful skills and talents that made Fade insanely overpowered even for Link!

The powerful ’Limitless’ talent alone was strong enough to suppress Link, and with his ’System,’ Fade had the advantage of adding ’Exp’ points and becoming stronger at a much, much faster rate than anyone else.

The duel went on for almost half a day; eventually Fade won the duel as Link’s already unstable mentality became completely haywire after seeing that Fade could go toe-to-toe with him!

But even in this heavily nerfed state where even his mind was not stable and his heart was shattered to pieces, Link was still the indomitable and insanely talented Link after all.

He immediately used his overload ability that had already caused a rampage once before and injured Fade severely.

One of the heroines tried to save Fade’s life as she noticed that Link was not going to stop attacking, but to her dismay, Link turned around and attacked her instead and smashed her head into meat paste on the spot!

Ashtel Rex would go in seclusion as Fade would start stirring trouble with the elf nation soon afterward.

By the time the human-elf war begins, Ashtel Rex will come out of his seclusion and start chasing Fade to try to kill him so as to put his son’s soul to rest.

Although Ashtel had told Link to disappear from his sight, he still cared for Link until the end.

Alas, with plot armor on Fade’s side, Ashtel Rex will soon meet his demise and will soon be forgotten by most of the world, as everyone would label him the father of a horrible criminal.

As the scene finally came to an end, a broken string of destiny floated to Link’s side and transmitted a message directly into his head.
