Chapter 782: Island Maria and The Seal. (Rio X Lia).

Beast Archipelago, Island Maria.

"So, this is Island Maria... or should I say, it was Island Maria?"

Standing in the sky, Rio looked at the completely flattened and charred mass of land barely holding itself intact in the face of the fierce ocean waves with his usual expressionless look and felt quite disappointed in his mind.

"It looks as if someone has detonated a high-grade mana bomb on this island..."

"There’s nothing left of the fortress that existed on this island now... I can’t even sense living insects on it; the mana is chaotic too..."

"The area has become a forbidden zone for anyone below rank S now..."

Hearing Rio’s words, Lia nodded her head and spoke in a calm voice.

"The strings of destinies are mostly intact in this place; it looks like Raika didn’t mess with them here... only some of them are broken... these must be the ones that were connected to his seal..."

Seeing Lia talk in such a quiet voice, Rio felt very uncomfortable.

"Err... If you aren’t feeling well. Uh... how about... how about resting a bit?"

Rio wanted to ask if he should wipe out those memories of hers that were troubling her so much, but he just couldn’t bring himself to say those kinds of words, as he would rather not reveal his power of manipulating minds.

Rio knew that Lia would likely not feel scared or anything after knowing that he had these kinds of shady powers.

But if there was even a shred of a possibility that she would feel a bit unnerved by his powers, Rio would feel sad, and thus he would rather not gamble on such a possibility either.

But if Lia’s memories were really bothering her this much and if it was really necessary, Rio had no other choice but to help her out even if it meant revealing his deepest secrets to her.

"No. I want to keep these memories."

"They have made me realize how things could have gone, how lucky I am right now, and how different the world could have been for me if not for you..."

"I don’t want to forget any of this... I just need a bit of time to collect myself and come to terms with these memories..."

Hearing those words, Rio nodded his head and replied with a slight smile.

"Well, if that’s what you wish for, how can I disagree? Just know that I’m always there for you if you want me for anything."

Rio held Lia’s hand with his own hand tightly as a way of reassuring Lia, who was in an emotionally weaker state at the moment, and spoke.

"The atmosphere in the cities of the Beast Archipelago right now is not appropriate for making a recovery; the entire world is drowning in sorrow..."

"This island is empty right now, as most of the residents got wiped out and whoever survived has already been moved away..."

"We can spend some alone time here while also doing something interesting, hehe~"

Hearing those words, Lia’s eyes shone a little as she asked back in confusion,

"Something interesting you say?"

Rio nodded his head as he replied in a calm voice,

"Let’s go down; it would be better to just show it to you directly instead of talking about it here..."

Rio and Lia descended on the charred island surface, and a look of curiosity appeared on Lia’s face.

Something that Rio would call ’interesting’ is definitely not ordinary, and it piqued her interest.

"As I told you before, Raika, the Crown of Endless Realms was originally sealed beneath this island by King Allen Von Reinhart at some point in time during the thousand-year war..."

"He managed to break through the seal with some external help from the Demon King Nebo Dahaka and made his way to us..."

"The seal that had bound him for almost a millennium was no ordinary seal; it was powerful, and from the looks of the situation here, the seal was broken in a rough and incorrect way, thus causing a massive backlash..."

"That backlash was likely the reason everything on this island has been destroyed, and the island itself is now on the verge of collapsing..."

As Rio explained all this to Lia, he led her to the massive crater located in the center of the island and descended into the giant hole leading to the underground area where Raika was sealed beneath the island.

"Originally I didn’t know about this, but after reading a bit of memories from the crown that I got after defeating Raika, I have realized that the seal created by King Allen was quite extraordinary..."

"He likely used some kind of power of the ’law’ of ’luck’ and the ’law’ of ’cosmic order’ to create this seal."

As the duo exited through the underground tunnel and flew downwards, they arrived at a massive open area beneath the island.

Most of the area was completely charred black and crystalized from the explosion caused by the backlash, and debris was everywhere, but that wasn’t what Rio and Lia cared about.

The moment they entered the open area, Rio smiled and raised his hand towards the center of the area where the crown should have been sealed before.

As Rio used the power of the crown, his hand shone with the purplish aura of miasma, and the strings of destinies and broken threads of luck became visible to the naked eye.

In the dark underground area, the brightly glowing threads and strings of fate and luck shone with golden brilliance and formed an extremely beautiful artwork of a lady holding a bracelet in her hands and healing a man fainted on the ground.

This scene depicted the moment when Astra saved King Allen’s life after he was driven to a half-dead state by the betrayal of his comrades, the shadow dragons, and the sinister plans of the crown and the demon king.

This moment signified the sacrifice that Astra had made back then to save him by creating a powerful life-saving artifact with a part of her soul!

That same bracelet went on to be used by Riya to awaken Ashtel and Jin too!

"A spectacle like this made from the strings of destinies... the effort that the creator of this would have needed to put into making something like this is insane!"

The usual brightness in Lia’s eyes returned as she finally came out of her depressed state and stared at the beautiful spectacle with a surprised look on her face.

"A painting made by using the very strings of the destinies of the world as a canvas and colour!?"

"This is! This is a masterpiece!"

The art piece was broken in many places, as the seal had already been destroyed by Raika and the Demon King, but it still looked extremely stunning!

"The power of the ’laws’ of ’luck’ and ’cosmic order’ is extremely concentrated here; we both can use this broken seal as a practice material to enhance our ability to control the strings of destiny..."

"I am not sure if I can do it, but you can likely make a similar art piece soon if you learn from this..."

Rio smiled at Lia as he asked,

"So... How did you like the surprise? Is it interesting?"

Hearing Rio’s question, Lia giggled lightly as the usual smile returned on her cute face.

"I love it! This is a wonderful surprise! It’s extremely interesting, and I am going to go learn how to make a painting like this right away!"

"I will make a similar artwork for us both too! hehe~ Thank you for showing it to me!"

With that said, Lia lightly pecked on Rio’s chin and then ran off to study the artwork more closely.

Rio was stunned by the sudden kiss and smiled happily after seeing her return to her usual self.

’Sigh, maintaining a relationship is hard work... but I am kind of starting to like this hard work...’

While wiping the non-existent sweat from his forehead, Rio took a long sigh of relief and flew down.
