Chapter 1242: What Lies Beyond ( 1242 )
Chapter 1242: What Lies Beyond ( 1242 )
Garius glanced up at the sky, a faint smile crossing his usually stern face.
"Thanks to your inventions, we have a huge advantage over any enemy. From instant communication and ensuring our people’s safety, to surveillance that our enemies cannot evade, we are far ahead of anyone who would dare to challenge us."
He paused, his expression growing more serious.
"But I’m afraid we will be very busy after this, my youngest son. And we don’t know..." He paused again, his voice dropping into a soft, serious tone. "...what the future holds for Armand. Whether we will continue to prosper, or face trials that will test us to our very limits."
Javier fell silent when he heard those words from his father.
It’s rare for Father to say something like that.
Does this mean the unknown group I saw from the mana satellite surveillance is truly a threat to us?
Even with our strongest army, our elite assassin household, our most powerful special units, and every advantage we possess?
Does this mean, even with our mana cannons, mana missiles, battle drones, drone gunships, Gaasad-1, and all our other defenses... it might not be enough?
I have to know more about this. I need to be prepared for it.
If this enemy poses a massive threat to our nation and our allies, they must be stopped at all costs.
"Javier?"
Javier snapped out of his thoughts.
"Stop thinking or planning about it for now. Focus on your half-brother and half-sister’s wedding tomorrow."
Garius was about to move but paused, glancing over his shoulder.
"Make sure you meet me after their wedding. I think it’s time for you to know... everything. About the enemies we truly face. And about what lies beyond this continent."
Javier watched his father walk back toward the building, with Alf and Erinette following closely behind.
What lies beyond this... continent?
He stood frozen for a long moment, the weight of his father’s words sinking in.
Shit.
Does this mean that Armand, the Human Nation, the Demon Nation, the Beastkin Nation, the Dwarven Nation, the Elven Nation, and the Halfling Nation... are not the whole world?
We’re not just facing a huge problem with the current Human Nation about to descend into civil war, or enemies within this continent, but also... enemies from a place I don’t even know about yet?
But why is there no record of this?
Does this mean those unknown groups I saw from the mana satellite are from another continent?
How big are they?
How vast is their continent?
How many races live there? How many countries?
How advanced are they? How strong is their army?
Javier pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled.
Does this mean they have the ability to summon heroes, just like the Human Nation did before?
He snapped his fingers and pulled out a special notebook from his dimensional storage, flipping it open.
Looks like I need to investigate these unknown groups further.
I need to launch the second mana satellite soon, while also preparing a new type of puppet knight.
But I don’t have enough of the rare white ore to build the strongest puppet knights.
I’ve been using it to construct two hundred Shironii units and hundreds of special white knights that I’ve deployed across the Mathrias Estate to secure this area.
I’ve already upgraded every knight with a mix of mithril and adamantite. All of them are equipped with new mana rifles, upgraded tactical gear, enhanced armor plating, and improved targeting systems. But if we’re facing enemies from beyond this continent... I might need something even stronger.
Something beyond what I currently have.
Something that can match... or surpass... whatever they bring.
What should I build next?
Man... time is limited.
Should I personally go and check on these unknown groups? Or send my remote-controlled knights that I’ve been using before? I could disguise them to look like actual adventurers in full plate armor. They have synthetic voices, realistic movements, and can pass as real people. No one would suspect they’re hollow shells piloted from another city. From Armand, I could control them as if I were there myself.
Mm... that’s one viable plan.
And since I also need to take down the assassin group that caused Gracelle’s illness, perhaps I should deploy the knights for that mission as well.
Javier’s eyes turned serious.
No.
For this assassin group...
I will personally handle it.
And from the look Father and Alf gave me before, I can tell this Mathrias butler has history with them. Father mentioned that even though they were once considered a third-rate assassin organization, we still can’t afford to be careless. They might have grown stronger, or they might have connections I don’t know about yet.
Hmm... I’ll deploy Gaasad-1 Gunship for aerial support, and my battle drones for air-to-ground suppression. That should give me enough firepower and mobility to corner them without risking direct confrontation until I know their full capabilities.
But for now... I need to refocus. Tomorrow is Aelius and Athine’s wedding. After that, I’ll have my answers. And then... I’ll move.
"Young Master?"
Javier turned and glanced at the voice.
Liana approached gracefully, with Buddy following closely at her side.
"Yes?"
"It’s late now. Let’s head inside and rest well. Tomorrow will be busy, not only with your half-sibling’s wedding, but also with transferring Gracelle to the Armand Healing Facility."
"Oh... yeah... right. I almost forgot about that."
Liana chuckled softly. "You? Forgot about what~? The great inventor who remembers every tiny detail of his creations, forgetting something so important?"
"Hey~ Don’t blame me for that. Besides, I’ll be busy after this."
Liana’s expression softened into a calm, serious look. "Is it about another mission? Given by your father?"
Javier smiled. "Sort of. You also know the current situation, right? With the Human Nation facing civil war, and the problems that will follow; refugees flooding borders, political instability, and the chaos that comes with it. Not to mention those organizations responsible for Gracelle’s illness." He smiled in amusement. "And of course, I need to take care of our allies, especially the nation you’re from, Liana."
Liana smiled softly and hugged him, planting a quick kiss on his lips before glancing up into his eyes. "Thank you. Don’t forget, the Elven Nation is also your stepmother’s nation. So it’s not just my homeland, it’s family."
"Yeah. I know~"
Liana smiled softly. "Let’s head back to our room. You’ll need the rest, since you’ll be even busier from now on."
"Okay~" Javier said with a charming smile, taking Liana’s hand and gently pulling her along as they walked toward the building.
Liana smirked, her eyes glinting with amusement.
And I can’t wait to see both of your reactions tomorrow morning~
