Chapter 1257: A Chilling, Sweet Smile ( 1257 )
Liana gave a sharp glare at Gloria.
"You will stay with me to accompany her."
"E... eh?" Gloria stopped laughing and glanced at Liana.
"What ’eh’? Hmm? Since she will become Young Master’s sixth wife, it’s our duty as co-wives to bond with her, welcome her into the circle, and help her adjust. You’re not getting out of this."
Gloria opened her mouth to protest, but the words died on her lips under Liana’s stern gaze. She knew Liana was right, and arguing would be pointless.
"Fine..." Gloria exhaled softly, then glanced at Gracelle, who was already too excited watching the wedding live on the Holo screen. "So this means we should celebrate and eat together here while watching the ceremony?"
"Mm." Liana nodded. "But this brat here still isn’t allowed to eat anything heavy. Ask the chef to prepare some porridge for her."
Gracelle’s eyes widened before she turned her pleading gaze toward Liana.
"Ehhh? Can I at least eat something good? Like meat?"
Liana crossed her arms and gave her a sharp glare. "No. Your body isn’t ready to handle heavy food yet. The doctor’s orders are clear. You’ll stick to light meals until your stomach can handle more."
"B... but..." Gracelle averted her eyes before mumbling softly. "Isn’t the doctor... Javier..."
Liana stood gracefully and walked toward the table, helping Gloria arrange the food.
"Yes. The doctor is Javier De Armand. And even if the doctor is Young Master, his word is final. He gave those orders for your own good, to ensure you recover properly. Until he says you can start eating heavier meals, you will follow his instructions."
She glanced over her shoulder and gave Gracelle a chilling, intimidating glare.
"If you try to sneak any food or insist on eating something that could worsen your health, I will make sure Young Master knows about it."
Liana paused, turning to face Gracelle fully with a sweet but chilling smile.
"And if he finds out you’re being stubborn and ignoring his medical advice, I can always inform him that you might not be a suitable wife candidate after all. Someone who can’t follow simple orders for her own recovery is hardly fit to join our circle, don’t you think?"
Gracelle’s eyes widened, and she quickly shook her head.
"N... no! I’ll listen! I promise!"
"Mm, good girl." Liana turned back to the table with a satisfied smile.
Just then, the door opened and Mimi’s head peeked inside.
"Nya?" She grinned the moment she saw Liana. "Eheheh~ Big Sis~" Mimi giggled before rushing inside and hugging Liana from the side, her tail swaying in excitement.
Liana exhaled while continuing to arrange the food on the table. "What now, Mimi? Why aren’t you at the wedding area?"
"Nya?" Mimi put one finger on her chin, glancing up with a thoughtful purse of her lips. "Nee-sama is there, but the wedding vow is too long and boring. So..." Mimi’s tail swayed lazily, "I got bored. And Big Sis wasn’t there."
Liana exhaled. "So... how did you know I was here?"
"Oh." Mimi grinned sheepishly. "I smelled the roast meat and your special sauce scent. Ehehehe~"
Gloria chuckled softly. "I believe at the wedding area, there’s a buffet table with all kinds of food, from meat to fruit. You could have just eaten there."
"Nya? Yes, but it was boring without everyone there." Mimi glanced up at Liana while still hugging her waist. "Ne~ ne~ Big Sis. Why aren’t you attending the wedding?"
Liana let out a weary exhale and glanced at Mimi before looking at Gracelle. "It’s because she insisted I accompany her."
"Ooh~" Mimi turned her head and glanced at Gracelle on the bed, who was too focused on the screen, before looking back at Liana.
"Ne~ ne~ Big Sis."
"What?"
"She didn’t feel bored listening to and watching the long ceremony? The High Priest’s speech is so slow and serious... I couldn’t stand it for more than five minutes!"
Liana smiled, finishing the arrangement of dishes on the big table. "Who knows? Besides, she just recovered from being bedridden for years. This is probably her first time seeing a Holo screen or any form of live entertainment like this. To her, everything is new and exciting, even a long wedding ceremony."
"Ohhhh~" Mimi puckered her lips, her eyes now fixed on the large slices of meat on the table. She licked her lips and was about to reach for it with her hand.
But was slapped hard by Liana.
"Eeeppp!" Mimi pulled her hand back and rubbed the spot where Liana had just slapped her. "Nyaaa!"
Liana gave her a sharp glare. "Did you wash your hands?"
Mimi rubbed the back of her head and let out a sheepish grin. "I didn’t touch anything dirty on my way here. Ehehe~"
"No can do. You’re no longer a child, Mimi. You’ve already shared a bed with Young Master and become one of his fiancées. Act like a proper lady. Now go wash your hands before touching the food."
Mimi’s tail drooped slightly before she turned and headed toward the restroom. "Mou!"
Liana glanced at Mimi, who was walking slowly toward the restroom, and asked, "Where’s Delya?"
Mimi paused and glanced up thoughtfully. "Umm... I think she’s still at the wedding ceremony, nya?"
Gloria narrowed her eyes and adjusted her glasses. "Don’t tell me you left without telling her?"
"Nya? Mimi got bored with the speeches, so Mimi left the area, nya."
Liana let out another long exhale. "You were supposed to attend as a representative of the Beastkin delegation. As a princess, your presence was expected."
"Eh? But Nee-sama is also there. So I don’t think there’s a problem, nya?"
"Ara~ Someone is going to be scolded hard by her sister after this," Gloria said with a teasing smile.
Liana shook her head. "I won’t be covering for you this time, Mimi."
"Eh!!?" Mimi rushed toward Liana and hugged her from the front, glancing up with pursed lips, her tail swaying desperately. "Please, Big Sis! Just this once! I promise I’ll behave next time!"
"No. I can’t always cover for you, Mimi."
"But..." She pursed her lips, her eyes glistening. "Big Sis always covers for Husband, nya. Why not for me?"
Liana glanced at Mimi’s eyes, then looked at Gloria.
"Ara~ Don’t look at me." Gloria raised her hands in surrender. "You’re the one who always pampers all your co-wives, so don’t act surprised when they come to you for help."
Liana let out another long, weary exhale.
Why do I have to put up with this?
Why are all my co-wives like this?
I was supposed to be serving my future husband, attending to his needs, and supporting him as his first wife. Not babysitting a bunch of grown women who act like children.
She pinched her forehead and glanced at Mimi, who was still staring at her with wide, pleading eyes.
"Just go wash your hands now, and we’ll eat after this."
Mimi’s ears perked up, and her eyes gleamed with joy. "Okay, nya~!"
