Chapter 1258: The Anchor of the Circle ( 1258 )
After a while.
Mimi was already seated at the table, reaching for the first large slice of roast meat from the platter, while Liana stood by the bedside, helping Gracelle eat her porridge.
"Stop looking at the Holo TV and focus on your meal first!" Liana scolded.
"Eeep! Okay!" Gracelle quickly turned her attention back to her bowl.
"Nyahaha~ She’s getting scolded too," Mimi chuckled softly, reaching for another slice of meat with her hand, dipping it in the sauce on the side before munching it happily.
"Mm~ Delicious, nya~" Her tail swayed contentedly, one palm resting on her cheek as she chewed with pure bliss.
Gracelle glanced at the catgirl on the table, who was happily devouring the meat, and swallowed hard.
That looks so delicious...
She looked down at her bowl of plain porridge and sighed softly.
How can I taste at least one small slice?
She glanced to her side, where Liana was busy arranging something on the table.
But she’s here.
I can’t slip off this bed without her knowing.
And if she finds out I tried to sneak a bite, I’m sure she won’t just stop at scolding. She said earlier that she would tell Javier about how stubborn and disobedient I am... That would ruin my chance to be with him before I even properly join his circle.
She bit her lower lip, her eyes lingering on the meat for a moment longer before she reluctantly turned back to her porridge.
I should behave... for now.
She was about to take a spoonful of porridge but paused when she noticed someone standing on the other side of her bed.
She put down the spoon and glanced up.
"Nya? Is it tasty?" Mimi tilted her head while munching her meat, her other hand holding a plate full of roast meat and a small saucer of special sauce to dip. Her tail swayed lazily as she glanced at Gracelle’s porridge.
"Mm... this is also good," Gracelle smiled weakly, but her eyes were fixed on Mimi’s plate.
Ah... I want to try it.
I wonder how long it’s been since I last ate meat?
Just a small bite. All I want is one small bite.
She swallowed hard.
Mimi tilted her head, still munching. "Ne~ ne~"
"Hmm? Yes?"
"What’s your name?" Mimi asked, her tone casual and friendly.
Gracelle smiled faintly. "Gracelle. Just call me Gracelle."
"Gra... celle... Gracelle...?" Mimi tested the name slowly, her ears twitching.
"Mm." Gracelle nodded.
"Oh..." Mimi nodded back. "Mimi is Mimi, nya! Just call me Mimi!"
"Mimi..." Gracelle mumbled softly, her eyes still locked on Mimi’s plate.
Mimi noticed Gracelle’s gaze fixed on her food. "Want some?" Mimi extended the plate toward her, offering a slice while still chewing on another piece.
"R... really? I can?" Gracelle’s eyes widened before she glanced nervously at Liana, then back at Mimi.
"Nya? What’s wrong? Don’t you want it?"
Gracelle was about to reach for the meat but flinched and paused when she heard a sharp, low voice from behind.
"Don’t you dare."
Gracelle swallowed hard at Liana’s warning before turning back to her porridge.
Meanwhile, Mimi flinched in panic when she saw Liana’s sharp, scary, intimidating glare. She quickly hid the plate behind her back, pretending to look innocent as she took a slow, careful step back.
Liana gave another sharp, terrifying glare at Mimi and began scolding her.
"If you feed her even one tiny bit of meat and something happens to her, you’ll be eating nothing but vegetables for months! No sauce, no meat, nothing!"
"Eeeppp!!!" Mimi’s tail stiffened in panic. "I don’t want that! I promise I won’t feed her anything, nya!"
"Then go back to the table and eat there!"
"Okayyyyy!" Mimi rushed away from the bed and hurried back to the table, sitting down quietly without another word.
Gracelle swallowed hard and quickly began eating her porridge, not daring to look at Liana’s terrifying gaze.
Uwa... she’s so scary...
I better just eat this and behave for now.
Gracelle coughed hard when she turned and felt Liana’s intimidating aura.
Liana exhaled and reached for a glass of water, handing it to her before patting her back gently.
"Eat slowly."
"O... okay..." Gracelle mumbled softly after drinking.
Gloria, who watched everything unfold, just smiled.
Mm~ That girl needs to learn how scary Liana can be and why she’s so suitable to become Javier’s first wife. She’s strict but caring, protective but fair, and she knows how to handle everyone, from the Young Master to his future wives. She’s the anchor that keeps the circle stable.
She noticed on the Holo TV that the wedding vows were done, and Aelius and Athine were exchanging their rings. After the vow, they leaned in, their lips meeting in a soft, passionate kiss. A moment filled with love, tenderness, and the promise of a lifetime together.
"Ah~ Prince Aelius and Princess Athine are now officially married~"
Liana smiled when she heard Gloria’s comment.
"Yes. They are now husband and wife. Their love has finally been recognized and blessed."
Gloria smiled.
"And soon it will be our turn too, right, Liana?"
Liana smiled softly and glanced at the Holo TV, watching as Javier stepped down from the wedding altar after completing his duties as best man.
"Mm... let’s hope so. I believe he will make it official once the Maid Beauty Contest is done, right?" Liana glanced at Gloria.
Gloria chuckled softly.
"Mm~ I believe soon enough, my votes will surpass yours, and I’ll take the first place."
"My, my~" Liana smiled sweetly while crossing her arms. "I don’t think you’ll be able to, Second Wife. Don’t forget Lady Mother has extended the voting to the people of Armand and Arjam, not just the officers, staff, soldiers, and guards."
"Arara~ Feeling confident, are you, First Wife?" Gloria smirked. "Don’t worry. I’m sure I have my voters too. And when I win, I’ll make sure to ask a special reward from Young Master~"
"My, my~ We’ll see about that, Miss Second Wife."
Mimi tilted her head and glanced at them before shrugging, continue eating her meal.
Just as the spark of rivalry flared in Liana and Gloria’s eyes, the door opened and Delya’s head peeked in.
"Mimi!" she hissed. She noticed Liana and Gloria and quickly stepped inside, still hugging her chocolate jar, and bowed slightly. "Big Sis, Sis Gloria."
"Ah, Delya. What’s wrong?" Liana asked.
"Mm? Nothing, Big Sis. I was just wondering where Mimi had gone since her seat was empty."
"Oh." Liana nodded. "So how did you know she was here?"
"Ah... I asked one of the maids, and they said they saw Mimi coming toward this room."
"Oh... okay."
Delya moved toward Mimi while still clutching her chocolate jar. "Why did you leave your seat? Felicia Nee-sama is looking for you!" she hissed.
"E... eh?" Mimi’s ears perked up, her tail stiffening before she darted her glance toward the door. "Where is she?"
"She’s coming to this room." Delya mumbled softly before taking a seat on a nearby cushion.
"Ehhhhh!?" Mimi rushed up, grabbed her plate while still biting a large slice of meat, and ran to hide behind Liana.
Liana exhaled, just as she was about to say something.
The door opened, and Felicia stepped inside.
"Where is Mimi?" Felicia’s voice was graceful but carried an edge of cold authority, her eyes scanning the room.
Liana shook her head. "Why? What happened?"
"How dare she register my name to make a speech after the vow! It’s lucky I came prepared and managed to deliver a short speech. Now, where is she!?" Felicia’s eyes scanned the room, her gaze sharp and unyielding.
